a haiku doesn't always rhyme. there are 3 parts there (the first part has 5 syllables, the second part has 7, the third part has 5). as the lady said, "five, seven, then five - syllables mark a haiku - remarkable oaf".
Traditionally haiku shouldn't rhyme. It's pretty easy to rhyme in Japanese so it's more skillful not to. Word play (multiple meanings/puns) is more the goal. Extra haiku random fact I remember from my classical Japanese class. Haiku derives from a poetry game called Renga, which is basically a poetry battle (like what's happening in the episode). If I'm remembering correctly, nobody really knows all the rules anymore, but you'd basically start with a haiku, then the next person would build off of that (taking the last five line as their first) and then continuing on for a set number of turns. There were rules about words you could use and how often you could reuse imagery.
Mako Iwamatsu was Iroh's original voice actor. He passed away during the transmission of season 2. Some said the last thing he recorded was actually that song and he did it when he was in his death bed. Something about the picture of Lu Ten. The text in it is actually readable, it says "General, we'll meet again when we win the war.
