This HK pre/power combo sounds great... super clean and liquid much like HK's previous vintage of amps and receivers (eg. HK505 & HK670). These are not however as well built as say HK's old Citation 19. 1980 was a turning point of cost cutting and cheapening parts and HK was no exception. However HK did not skimp when it came to design technology and excellent sound. But HK receivers and integrated amps from this series were somewhat bland sounding compared to this HK770/725 combo which sounds alive and wonderful assuming good condition. How do I know?... I use to sell this stuff at a stereo store I worked for back in 79/80.
