Man, this guy is something else. Been catching up on all his vids. Bro your work ethic is crazy. Love it a lot, today's youth even older men can learn from you.👍🏼
We all sit at our tables to enjoy food or have a glass of milk but we never think of all the efforts that farmers have to make to produce them, this guy works very hard from early in the morning, having to eat standing or sitting back of a tractor, my respects for him and his family, you are admirable and thank you very much for everything you do so that we also enjoy your great sacrifice. THANK YOU
When I give God thanks for the things I have and I ask Him to bless the food I'm to eat, I ask Him to bless the hardworking farmers and the up and coming generations like you. You are everything thing that is right and good with our youth and the myriad of tasks that go into producing 1 gallon of milk or a nice steak can never be underrated. I am a 57 year old widow in Michigan who lives in the country. The smell of the land, the animals, the rivers are the smells of living God's life. I wish I knew your name. The way you explain things and as I said, the myriad of tasks you are so skillful at doing, well, my young friend, it is a treat and an honor to watch you. Being a 10th generation dairy farmer, you must have had outstanding role models - beginning with your mom and dad, who works right alongside of you. I would love to visit your farm for a day or two and just soak in the learning process. Thank you so very much for sharing your family's legacy, giving credit to those who've helped you and your dad (specifically the neighboring small dairyman who does work on your equipment, the fella who came and helped with the silo auger, to name a couple), those you've helped (farming is a very reciprocal vocation). Please keep the videos coming and keep teaching. This country, as a whole, needs desparately to see farming, and specifically, animal farming, in the light with which you present it. Take care, my young friend. May God continue to watch over you and all who provide for us, and may He bless you and your family.
Great video!! I like what you said “ It works for us so we keep doing it” Everybody should apply that logic it would uncomplicate a lot of things 😊 I liked watching you load the corn for planting. You are very organized in your work!! A man on a mission 🚜 Thanks
I love your videos you seem to love what you do and the cows , babies and heifers, l really respect people that care for them. Being cruel is shameful , it seems you truly care and love them , that's the way it should be keep up the great work.
I grew up on a farm and my dad and family still run it, it was a grain farm ONLY. I am in a big city and an office now but still go home to visit and the farm. We never had any livestock on the farm other than cats or dogs, wow I am intrigued on how much MORE work a livestock and dairy farm really is than what my dad does. You are working way harder than grain farmers for sure but I never did see really how a dairy farm worked even though there were some all around us. This is great to see, I did know it was harder work on a dairy farm but this really puts it in perspective.
Super interesting to watch this. Grew up on Prince Edward Island, Canada. Our whole province is essentially one big farm. So neat to see how these machines work.
Love your videos bro. Im taking Agriculture course major In Agronomy. All we have at school is do research. Farmers here lack mechanical equipments. We do farm labors manually. It take times.
Eric, good video & explanation. If your process worked in the past few years, you tweak/fine tune it. Glad the weather has cooperated for you in PA. Can not wait for football season, my team is in the same conference, we will have some fun!
Eric my grandfather would be impressed the way you and your family run your dairy operation he too had a top notch operation back in the day happy cows really clean and organized 👍 btw how many cameras do you use or do you just move the one and what type is it , thanks Jeffrey
Is this corn genetically engineered like roundup ready? Not making a judgement of you or what you're about just would like to know. Also are the other farms around you using GMO corn and soybeans? Your family has been farming this land for 10 generations wow. Seems you got a good grip on keeping it going. So many skills required I'm impressed. And so much special equipment to know how to fix and maintain. Really good quality video production I am learning a lot about modern dairying so cool
That's a modern planter compared to what we had. We had a JD 4row trip planter and used plates to control the seed and used solid fertilizer and it was all steel or sheet metal. We had to clean it real good and oil the crap out of it so the fertilizer didn't eat it up by next planting season. Takes talent to keep a straight row and sure didn't have time to watch videos or talk and text on the phone like they do now days. Nice to see things being done that I can relate to.
Dairyman -- One thing I have noticed about your videos is that your THUMBS UP to THUMBS DOWN ratio is A LOT higher than any of the other channels I watch, whether they be farming or non-farming channels, and in most cases you don't even have as many subscribers as they do. What this tells me is that your quality is that your subscribers like your quality of content. I know that I do. BTW, I had heard never heard of triticale before. I heard you mention triticale in some other videos, but had not seen it spelled until this video, and up to now I thought you were saying "treadacow". LOL. Well, after all, you are a dairy farmer, and so I thought "treadacow" must be it. LOL.
Great video. Thanks for sharing. Is that a kenzie planter? And I'm assuming your corn is for silage, do you plant a silage corn or just a regular variety? Here in swne were really wet spring planting is behind
@@10thgenerationdairyman If your talking yield on soybeans, that's kinda wide but an old standard. 20 - 24 inches will yield better and is the narrowest or white mold will be a common issue. Some plant at 15 and drill at 7.5 and risk white mold big time. But it gives a quicker shade canopy to deter weeds the herbicide failed on. So it kinda balances out and 30 inch rows can be cultivated. My dad loved cultivating corn using a JD A and a 4 row cultivator. I miss farming, but not the work. I'm to old and worn these days, LOL Do you do any foliar fertilizing at night? 70° or lower is the temp for foliar feeding. I use to sell a brand back in the early 80's, it was great. But they sold the company, doubled the price and went broke. Sunrain 8-8-8 fish and seaweed with trace minerals. Never found another one like it.
Nice video. 👍🏻 How many day corn do you plant? What Gpa are you putting down on the starter? Just gets dry enough here to think about trying to do some field work here, the we get another 1"- 1 1/2" of rain. Nothing in the ground yet, just got some manure out of the pit.
Are you familiar with GABE BROWN and permaculture/multi seed species planting and soil building. Very interesting, in that, this will free the farm of huge fertilizer and chemical expense. The result is more profit and less experiences and purer food.

So you get your corn from a chemical company? Wow, that is what is wrong with this country. Our country thanks to Monsanto does not use seeds that reproduce like the old days' farmers would just grow their own seeds every year. Grow what you need for this year then grow some for next year's crop only if something goes wrong, do you need to buy new seeds not anymore. Sad
They put an incredible amount of research and work into producing these new seed varieties. It makes sense that they would want to protect the technology and not allow everyone to just keep replanting their own seeds. Modern corn is way more productive and resistant to disease because of the sience that's put into it
True. All ag seed sold these days is hybrid seed. Hybrid seed is sterile so it won't produce a seed the following year if planted. Keeps the farmer buying seed each year. Pretty good marketing plan.
As you did in this video and seem like all your videos you explain how your equipment works. I for one really appreciate you doing that. thank you

I can tell that's a KINZE... what is it?
Is it cheaper to have some of the work done custom ? Or do it yourself's
Yeah it's cheaper and easier for us. We don't have enough acres for it to be worth owning some of that stuff
