I loan what I can, if I can. I give it as a gift and am grateful when or if I am repaid.

My husband likes to spend, I like to save money. Our solution: Two separate bank accounts. We married 19 years ago (and still are quite happy togethe). So this concept works out for us. Each pay his share of household costs. Hubby the energy bill, I the water and taxes.

Does he contribute to retirement? I'm just curious how this affects long-term planning

Yes. In Germany retirement is automatically withdrawn by government from the salary. You can't choose.

I feel so uncomfortable lending money and asking to borrow. My mindset is if I don't have it, do without.

A lot of people feel this way - yet many don't mind asking too! Even when they know you don't have it or can afford to! Thanks for sharing!

I have never borrowed money, but people seem to always ask me for money. It makes me very uncomfortable. I've given away so much just in the last 2 months. I have to Learn to say NO!!

I loan money but if I'm able to to gift it. I will. I think it best to improve on budgeting strategies so you may not have to borrow unnecessarily

Thank you. I'd love to learn how to better handle those who ask me to loan them money where the chance of not being paid back is high.
