    24:37 Why do pilots reduce thrust briefly on climb out and then increase thrust again? They always do that.

    • @crazyman6099
      @crazyman6099 2 ปีที่แล้ว +9

      There are several reasons. One is that there is take off thrust. (First reduction of power). 2. Required to level off and speed limit below 10,000 feet is 250 knots. 3. When given a climb to a higher altitude there is a climb power setting (power increase).

    Talk about a takeoff checklist on the fly. Strobes weren’t even on until they were well in the air and flaps weren’t down until they were already taxing. Just found that a little interesting. Great vid as always.

    • @mr.verification9993
      @mr.verification9993 ปีที่แล้ว

      Strobes auto is part of Frontier's SOP for operations. How that works is that they turn on when the gear has no friction or force on it.
      Flaps are most likely part of the taxi checklist, rather than the after start checklist. They can be set any point from after pushback to after taxi.

      @sla31  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks my friend. It depends on when you're talking about. There's always a slight bit of extra shaking/rattling noise just from the cabin. There's a lot of vibrations that run through planes, and there's a lot of plastic and metal in the cabin that make noise. On the other hand, if you're taking about when we landed. Which there was a TON of extra shaking and rattling on this flight, that's from Frontier's tiny metal tray tables. They all made a horrible racket when we landed.

    Nice to see you fly Frontier for a change! Looked like a nice flight. What were your thoughts after flying Frontier?

    • @sla31
      @sla31  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Flying Frontier on this trip was a last minute audible that I called to beat a winter storm through DEN. I was actually supposed to fly Southwest instead. But my Southwest flights were timed right when the storm was supposed to be the worst. I'd say my view on Frontier is probably what you'd expect given my track record on ULCCs. I mean, I've said in the past that I avoid them at all costs, so... haha. If I were to give them a score on a scale of 1-10, I'd probably give them a 2. The pros were that it was extremely cheap, even though I bought the ticket about 6 hours before the first flight from SFO-DEN. It was still less than $100 when the next closest airline was American at over $350. The aircraft were also new and clean. In fact, the first flight was operated by an A320N and it was listed on Flight Radar as "Brand New." And the last pro was the actual "Frontier" employee's, I.e., the pilots and flight attendants were extremely friendly. Those pros, as nice as they were, were far outweighed by the cons. Again, I wasn't expecting much from Frontier being an ULCC. You get what you pay for. First, the seat was the most uncomfortable seat I think I've ever flown in, and that includes their "stretch" option. I have 50K status on Frontier despite not having flown them since 2013. So, I could pick the best seats on the plane for free, and they were still worse than anything else I'd sat in before. Next, both of my flights took preventable delays. The SFO-DEN flight because the contracted ground crew didn't show up to work, at least not enough of them to actually work the flight, and the DEN-MCI because Frontier's computer system was down and the crew was having to manually input their flight path. Also, the boarding process for both flights was a complete disaster. I've seen some pretty unorganized boarding before, but this was chaos on a whole new level. The gate agents, who were definitely contract workers at SFO, and maybe DEN but I'm not sure on that one, obviously didn't care about the "boarding procedure." They basically just told everyone to get on at both cities. As someone who now has status on almost every major US airline, this was shocking to me. I have 50K status, can select any seat on the plane for free, can bring a carry on for free, and have all these other benefits, but they didn't have a zone or group for those passengers to board first? And to be fair, I think they do, but again, neither gate agent actually used any type of boarding procedure besides boarding wheelchairs first. It was basically "okay everyone, we're boarding." And everyone just rushed the gate. There were other small things, but those were the big ones. Would I fly Frontier again? Yes. For the channel, if they have a good flight option, if they offer some cool flights, etc. But they'd never be my first choice. As I've said many times before, there's a reason why I don't typically fly the ULCCs. They just aren't the type of airlines I like to fly.

      From personal experience i flew to mcarrwn. Great airline, fun staff good service. Overall 9/10

    • @sla31
      @sla31  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Well there’s a lot that goes into that. As someone who flies a lot, the experience was, lack luster at best. And don’t get me wrong, I wasn’t expecting much. The agents at the airports, who appeared to be contractors, didn’t really seem to care or know what was going on. Boarding was a disaster on both flights. Both flights took avoidable/preventable delays. The first flight because contractor ground staff didn’t show up to load bags, the second because Frontier’s systems were down and the pilots had to manually enter their flight path in the cockpit computers. The seats were definitely the most uncomfortable seats I’d been in, in a long time and that includes the Stretch seat on the A320N. Overall, I’d rate the entire experience as like 3/10. The only bright spot was the actual “Frontier” employed crews. The pilots and flight attendants. They were all very nice and professional. The aircraft were also nice given they were both new. One was brand new and the other was less than 6 years old. I mean, it was what you’d expect from an ULCC. Will I fly frontier again? Yes. Would I actively choose them over someone like Delta, Southwest, or United? No.

      There's like 8 minutes missing as my camera lost focus as dawn started to take over and then wouldn't re-focus until there was adequate light. Filming night to dawn is the most difficult thing to try to film. Unfortunately, sometimes the technology doesn't always work they way you hope.
