      +upton parka In the USA we have some tractors that are 2 times as wide as the one in your video. Just the tires take up one full lane. And they go just as far to find a second field.

    Very nice to see a driver who is kind and respectful. I really don't understand why so many other drivers get so pissed off and abusive over the littlest things, or things which just cannot be helped.

    Wow I have new found respect for you BIG boy drivers. I often get stuck behind some BIG boys while on holiday in central Norfolk and if I do Well that's the FUN of being on holiday. all the country traffic,smells,and noise. It was great to see your perspective for a change, and some of the roads I have traveled. Happy and safe driving George.

    Probably got mad because usually he is the one making other vehicles (cars) go back up, and now he found himself forced to back up by a "farmer peasant", and not some highly respected international articulated truck driver.
    I bet he bullied his way out of that road on every car he crossed on his path.

    16:56 Worst place to stop. Ever. She spots the tractor with its massive wheels, so she stops parallel a telegraph pole. About 15 yards behind her is a passing place. And about 50 yards in front is another wide spot. But no. She stops beside the pole. Slow. Claps. Bra. Vo.

    G'day George Saunders I drive cattle in my truck places and because the cattle can move around you have to be very careful on round abouts and no sudden braking so to avoid this anywhere where its other than reasonable straitish road with good visability you have to go slow and people get really pissed off about it. I wonder when they go out for dinner and order a steak if they think how it got from the farm to the table.

    These are the exciting and adventurous things in driving such massive machinery around the country. At the same time, I find it difficult to explain to an unknowing person, as it's an uncomfortable situation for many car drivers to be in. I guess you can only love it when you master it! Not to mention the acoustics at your workplace - brilliant ;D

      You either like it, or you don't. I did it for years and it wasn't on account of being a big earner. I do tend to acknowledge the drivers when they pull over tho not the ones that don't bother pulling into passing places, even with 30 or 40 cars behind them. Then they get the finger cos they give 'tractoristas' a bad name. Cromer, eh? I'm in Norwich now, after living in Oz for 14 years. George, you have been there haven't you, if in fact you're not an Aussie. Nice vid, been wondering what the Fastracs are like.

    • @MrSaemichlaus
      @MrSaemichlaus 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Recently, I saw a van give a reversing lorry a good 30 metres of space. No point in pulling up to his bumper - no time saved, the lorry might hit you in his blind corner and if he needs to pull up again, you're both stuck. Thought by myself, such forward-thinking people have become rare. But it gets better the further you get out in the country :)

    @kyleshores432 10 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Stupid question that may show the american hick in me here, but when the truck driver was backing up, there looked to be a little old lady standing at the end of her drive, why did he not quick roll down the window and ask if she minded him backing in the other drive to let you through?

      George Saunders We see a lot of that up here - my biggest problem is the 4x4 drivers from the town who drive towards you with there eyes peering thru slits - maybe shutting your eyes makes the gap wider lol- and quite a few lorry drivers are a bit of practice with reversing- stops the "I cant turn that in here " warcry lol

    An interesting ride along on the narrow twisty roads of the U.K. That irate trucker missed a few spots to pull over. We have it easy here with mostly wide and straight roads. Most of the time I will pull over and stop the tractor when meeting trucks on a narrow road. Easier for me than for the trucks.

    What makes me laugh, not so many years ago, getting stuck behind a tractor was a real drag, as they were extremely slow, where as most of the new tractors now have road gears, so can pick up some good speed. I loved working on the farm when I was younger, so always make way for tractors and to the annoyance of others let them out, especially when the roads busy.

      Extrapolating from subscribing to, and enjoying a particular video is stretching it a bit, don't you think. I pay a licence fee and watch BBC from time to time but that doesn't mean I like celebrities dancing on ice or in the jungle, and I don't and never watch them.

    Haven't British road authorities realise yet that 21st century vehicles are a bit bigger than horse and cart , so need a wider road ? Even the main road has hedges so close to the bitumen that two trucks can't pass . I wonder what the crash rate is on these roads?

  • @Manorfarmdenton
    @Manorfarmdenton 10 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I know its not the case here, and the truck could get out of the way, but a year or two back our 44 tonne artic with fully loaded 45' tri-axle trailer pulled onto a verge for a tractor with trailer load of bales - and sank in until the front axle was on the ground. The tractor had driven past a spot where they could have passed easily without stopping, then refused to back up. (it was a drawbar trailer!) We had to take two big tractors to pull the Stralis out. After that I told the driver to let the tractor do the avoiding. Also, its very frustrating to be driving a 540hp 16 speed fully automatic truck behind a tractor and have to slow down every time you come to a hill that the truck wouldn't notice was there.
    Just a comment - not a whinge. I can see both sides of the argument having driven trucks and tractors all my life. John.

      Manorfarmdenton The best rule of thumb is the smaller of the two vehicles gives way, considering i also drive artics i get to see both sides of the argument, at the end of the day we are all just trying to get a job done:)

    Another cold tractor film. This cold tractor was going quite surprisingly fast and couldn't understand why so many cars were keen to overtake it

    I get people like that lorry driver everyday, the roads I drive on with a water bowser behind me in Rainham, Essex. There are arctics and other lorries plus stupid people in cars that can't wait for you, and panic when they see you coming.
    Also, when you have a stupid tractor that won't go above 10MPH while pulling the load, it's just a case of having patients lol.

    I thought tractors were prohibited on roads unless within a mile of their home farm? Mind you, at the price of red diesel, I suppose its cheaper then using the car.

      In other countries they have tunnels through mountains, but in England they have tunnels through trees. Wouldnt it have been alot easier to drive whithout the trees, bushes and hedges besides/in the road?

    I don't think the lorry driver got into a mood, it just looks like he misjudged the corner and got onto the wrong side, he came forward so as to get back onto his side.
