Thanks! the range of that radio depends on a bunch of factors. Power is not the main factor in the distance, the height and and terrain can greatly affect your range. With the same radio at the other end it could be 1 mile and could be 10 miles or if you connect even a small directional antenna you'll be able to communicate via repeaters on satellites which are thousands of miles away.

I bought original Nagoya NA-771 antenna and for me it's the best radio in that price range. Super sensitive, great sound quality. Reception on air band is not the best with the kit antenna (I live not far from the airport about 20km). But with the original Nagoya NA 771 antenna the reception is perfect. @@Junior-yt3kx First of all, this radio can scan through the whole band or through your saved channels (when you see the channel numbers or their names which you added to a specific frequencies). You can switch between those modes by pressing and holding the TDR button. Also, your radio has three scanning modes (go to the menu 21 "Scan mode"). It can find an active frequency and stop searching or it can continue when the signal is gone. Just play with those settings and find which one works better for you.

pharaoh unfortunately it's not gonna work for your model. Even though your CPU has integrated graphics the motherboard doesn't provide power for it. So it's impossible to convert it to UMA.

@@Junior-yt3kx Air mode works only for VFO A (upper part of the screen). You can switch between VFO by pressing the Band key. Then enter 108000 and then press and hold the scan key (asterisk) to activate scanning.

Yaesu FT3DR is an amazing radio with a bunch of unique features but the sound is not its strong point. If you just need a radio for communications without GPS and stuff then this Wouxun is the best option for under 200$.

Yeah that Yaesu speaker sucks. Someone in our Air soft team used that radio and it's useless without a headset.
