Love this episode so much. You can practically see the sweat poring down his face when he was out of food and fuel. Especially funny since the free meat would have made the run really easy since it would have gotten him jerky really easily, kept resolve up and got him an order finished. And he never got a meat foraging building while having hundreds of meat scattered around taunting him.
happened to me 4-5 games in a row my first day of playing; I couldn't understand if I had somehow unlocked it permanently but it didn't register because damn... eventually I realised I'm just an unlucky sod
Not to join Potato in the potato mashing, but that "Friendly Relations" cornerstone is definitely a TRAP, it's pretty hard to get the rep up to actually get some resolve out of it. Additionally, when the game offers you free food right at the start, it almost seems to be a message that food will be hard to come by!
Have really enjoyed this series, motivated me to pick up the game. Super affordable, super easy to get into, and I totally agree with your earlier assessment that each game seems to end at just the exact right time.
Wow this was down the the wire. I have to say I have done PLENTY of runs where I didn't use any form of farming, and it's pretty easy honestly even on impossible difficulty. Couple things I recommend when going without farms is: 1 - Setting limits on your provisions and trade goods. Never produce more than you need for quests. Selling them to traders isn't really worth it and trade routes are random, at most keep like 1 or 2 on hand or produce them when you check the trade routes. 2 - SELL PARTS! - You almost always have a ton of parts and can recycle camps later in the game or get more from orders, and they're SUPER valuable. Selling off like 5-6 over the course of a couple years to instead buy materials is always useful. If you finish a game with like 10 parts in the bank, just think how much sooner you could've finished if you'd have sold those earlier. 3 - ALWAYS prioritize getting Wood, Cloth and Brick production of at least 2 star recipes. This is useful even if you go farm mode, but especially if you don't have farms, you want to get the most efficient industry you can, and to do that you will need a LOT of building materials.
I found out about this game from one of your previous streams and now the demo is taking over my life! It's a great game so far. I can't wait to see what it is when it is out of early access.
Views are down for this series, but I appreciate Potato for taking the time to spread the word for this game. The discovery and defense of the new is something to be proud of!
So weird, looking back at this video, now that I've played a decent amount, to see the great Potato almost lose on just Veteran difficulty, and take so many years to win, with such massive Citadel upgrades.
Even though I keep burning out super fast everytime I want to get back into this game, I do apreciate the mechanic where as the queen gets impatient for me, the Dread all the Expedition subjects under my control feel about going deeper into the forest every year goes down. I like to imagine that it goes like this whenever I play: Eldritch omega horror: {exists} Random Human/lizard/bever/harley quin: "Woah woah woah, if I don't chop those trees down, the queen WILL have my head. I don't have time to deal with you, so stay in your lane, eldirtch horror!" Eldritch Omega Horror: {Cries}
Omg i've played non-stop for like 6 hours and then 4 more since the day i first saw your vid about this game. I'm completely hooked now lol. One question tho, what do you do if your city development plans go haywire (i.e when you want to base your economy on planting but then don't discover enough soil, or you just can't find the building you need)? Do you hold on to the plan to salvage what you had already built or just go with another direction?
Looks like the title was spelled wrong - "Agaisnt the Storm" should be 'Against' the Storm. Loving the reach out to other games. Keep it coming, Tater O'Schnaps.
Q: Can the flashing lights/lightning from the storm phase be turned off in the options of the game? Also, can we have a bunny update, I haven't heard her cause havoc in a stream lately.
So just a couple things I've found while playing, at least in my experience farms are pretty poor at creating food, whenever I rely heavily on farms I starve (however they seem to do well at producing other things like plant fibers for cloth), also for farms to get enough out of them that they are better than forage seems to be so long as to be irrelevant, but maybe it's just my playstyle, also you can press alt to see what villagers are assigned where which is great for finding where a villager that you want to slot into a specialized building is for their bonus
with the exception of berries (and mushrooms if you get the cornerstone), farms produce food at half the rate of everything else but transforming wheat/flax into meat through a ranch, and then into jerky, can easily sustain 20 villagers with a single farm
Each race has a job that they have a 10% chance for double yields, and a job that gives them bonus resolve. So Beavers produce more wood cutting while Humans produce more when farming. Each race also has different needs that need to be met by different resources and buildings, things like the tier 2 food they eat and service requirements like brotherhood for lizards and religion for humans.
Does the option to select consumption come as you level up? I just started playing and that seems super handy! Potato, thanks for introducing me to this amazing game!
Is that a case that in previous version the game did not have hearth leveling system? One of first things I go for is 3 houses and 4 cosmetics to get extra global resolve
i think your mistake with friendly relations was getting it preemptively. if you find yourself with good trade relations, you might as well pick up freindly relations, but becuase you need 3 freindship ranks before it does anything at all, it really isnt worth getting as a first perk
It will only be a better game at Steam release, worth waiting for imo. Lots of balance and polish to be done (and the dev's seem capable). Also, I don't like rewarding exclusive deals. That archaic 90's bs needs to die already.
>Doesnt choose the passive +5 meat foundation >Doesnt choose the Trapper Camp to harvest meat >Picks the smoke house and jerky deeds and building >Packs all the food into Provision to trade >Trade terrible deals with the other settlements for ambers >Ambers used to buy perks with only average to below average benefits for this playthrough Kinda yikes run

The Queen seems to be satistfied seeing a new Against the Storm video. Patience under the treshhold.
Also world-salad in the video-title ;)

Loving the series Potato. The against the storm content is great
I dont know why but i really like this "series"... the commentary and thought process is, for some reason, really entertaining. Keep it up.
I just finished the last one like 10 minutes ago so glad this one just came out :)

I’ve had this game in my wishlist for a while and you’ve convinced me to buy it. It looks fun and complete enough for an early game
Potato: we need food we miss so much food!
Also Potato: lets change our food to rations and trade it all away!
I found out about this game from one of your previous streams and now the demo is taking over my life! It's a great game so far. I can't wait to see what it is when it is out of early access.

Keep playing this game!
This was an absolutely nuts game
Looks like the title was spelled wrong - "Agaisnt the Storm" should be 'Against' the Storm.
Loving the reach out to other games. Keep it coming, Tater O'Schnaps.
Lovin this series!
the art, especially the item icon remind me of the Thea, that hex base Slavic fantasy game, i wonder if there is any relationship
Q: Can the flashing lights/lightning from the storm phase be turned off in the options of the game? Also, can we have a bunny update, I haven't heard her cause havoc in a stream lately.

another day another banger

I went over to Steam to look up this game and nab it myself.
Cons: 'Planned release date: Q4 2022'
Pros: 'Now rebroadcasting: PotatoMcWhiskey'
After playing again there seem to have been a lot of buildings that overlap each other. Frequently I find myself just trading to win.
What do the different races do?
I have not seen the game for a while (there were no harpies the last time i saw a video)

I love this game.
Just got the game and I am really struggling, does anyone have any tips for getting started?
Potato packing all his food into boxes and selling it, while also wondering why his villagers are also starving
Is that a case that in previous version the game did not have hearth leveling system? One of first things I go for is 3 houses and 4 cosmetics to get extra global resolve
You misspelled Against in the title :)
i played agame with no farm land just before i won game their was farmstead and heaps of farm land around it. haha
i think your mistake with friendly relations was getting it preemptively. if you find yourself with good trade relations, you might as well pick up freindly relations, but becuase you need 3 freindship ranks before it does anything at all, it really isnt worth getting as a first perk
Damn this game is interesting to watch but I can’t see myself playing it
agaisnt
This game looks like a ton of fun. I'm actually considering going to the trouble of buying it on Epic before it releases on Steam later this year.
It will only be a better game at Steam release, worth waiting for imo. Lots of balance and polish to be done (and the dev's seem capable). Also, I don't like rewarding exclusive deals. That archaic 90's bs needs to die already.
this game excites me
I am almost speed
Ok thats it im getting this game
Wait nvm epic games store moment
How do u get this game
Im just curious mostly but is there a reason potato calls the storm, "the winter"
May be Frostpunk related?
Maybe Timberborn? Cause that game had seasons and the harder one was called winter
@@radcliffecushman4938 Oh yeah, I could totally see Timberborn, thats a much better suggestion.
Against the storm the new game for potato!
