INSANELY RACIST Alabama Town HASN'T HELD ELECTIONS FOR 60 YEARS to Keep Black Folks From Office!!!

  • Jesse talks about an insane story out of Newbern, Alabama, where the town hasn't held an election for roughly 60 years. Instead, the White leaders have handed down power from one White Mayor to the next. When one resident finally went through official channels to run for Mayor in an election. After the new Mayor won, the all-White unelected town leadership locked the new Mayor out of the city hall and the city bank accounts.

In 1609, the Virgin Church, finally free from the Tyranny of the Catholic Inquisition and the demands of the Anglican Church, came to Virginia. The dragon soon followed into Mary's Land wearing the disguise of freedom of religion, and founded the Catholic Colony. And then the Jesuits helped to create 1,000 denominations of Protestants with wildly diverse dogmas and doctrines to destroy the reformation.

I don't know that Alabama is the worst state either.
I keep thinking the answer isn't the confederate states seceding - we may need to evict them from the union.
Give black Americans living in the south a subsidy to give them a chance to move some place where the deck isn't stacked against them, and their contributions are valued.
But that breakup between North and South would need to happen first.
Otherwise we would still be providing funding to failing southern states, and the harder they fail the more it would cost us to prop them up.
No, black people have saved the country over and over - its time we rescued them from the south.
I'm sick of worthless inbred leeches having a veneer of respectability by hiding behind our flag.
Let them sink or swim on their own.

I think that there might be some indirect consequences. Elections serve as feedback loops: a mayor does bad for his town, he is eventually kicked out and the damage is limited over decades.
Without that feedback, it means that they could keep going for somewhat longer on things that are just bad for the economy of that town.
But, that does ask for direct consequences. I'm thinking as far as a few arrests.

    • @PhrontDoor
      @PhrontDoor หลายเดือนก่อน

There are no official consequences for such. That's one of the largest problems with American law - it has 'laws' which are more like general advice since most of the highest level ones have no enforcement mechanisms. Like, 'congress shall make no laws .... free speech' BUT it doesn't say "and if they DO abridge, then it's 10 days in jail or $XXX fine".
Without explicit penalties or enforcement mechanisms, you don't have laws.

Every person involved in this should at the least be going to trial by now, at the minimum. 60 years a mayoral seat has been passed down like an inheritance and nothing has been done. Simple. Either put up, or get put down. The town is 133 people, most likely with more guns than residents, and with most of the guns, surely, in the hands of those running the place. The article is just about the mayor, but the issue, obviously, extends much further: City leaders, police, judicial system. Remember, too, the case is being sent to FEDERAL court. So, what does that tell you about the county and state levels? I'll bet Woody's associates are kicking themselves for not providing the "new mayor" an accident a while ago, like they suggested.

It's not just not against blacks. It is against anyone that's in the "ring." In Fayette, 30 minutes north of Tuscaloosa, a car salesman became a judge. Several years ago, a sheriff went to jail when he came out he became sheriff again, and the governor had to pardon him so that he could carry a gun again.
In Belk, a community just south of Fayette, with the mayor dies, another is assigned. No election, I never got to elected a mayor in Belk, and I have been through 5 mayors!

When has the US done anything in other people's countries other than put local right wing corruptos in power when they claim they're fighting communism. Nicaragua has a very mixed economy and considerable support for small businesses, with free tuition through university, food supplements in public schools, three tiered health system (free basic, national health and retirement insurance, and private), and subsidies on electricity for low-usage consumers and subsidies on 20 lb propane/butane gas tanks. The old oligarchic countries want to be able to loot Nicaragua again, especially the military pension fund.
I've been living in Nicaragua for over 13 years now. I trust the FSLN version 2 more than I trust Trump's GOP.
