  • Learning how to pose, direct and work effectively with a client or model takes time. The trust and confidence you have in one another is a determining factor in creating great images.
Beginning with seated poses and working up to standing an more dynamic poses has worked for me over the years.
The easier you can make the process for your subject, the more comfortable she will be and the more effective the poses will look.
Creating the desired results can be more easily done with some knowledge, preparation and consultation with your subject.
in this series of three videos I will show you a typical shoot in the studio with Paige so you can see, as much as possible, the process and the results as well as many valuable tips along the way.

Love how you go through poses. They are so simple yet diverse. How you direct makes it easy to replicate and learn what you're teaching. Fantastic video.

Turning the feet inwards while going on to the towes, is another trick that helps give more ' strength ' to a standing pose. Good job.

really enjoyed your reason to get female models to turn or cross the knee while standing to give a more pleasing figure.

I like the whit top with the twisted shoulder straps. I enjoyed the phots sitting on the stool very much. In very first moment used that black tube or pole as a prob would be a silly idea. However these phoots turned out very nice. I like your calm way of presenting. You are publishing very valuable videos for any beginner and even any advanded photographer. I am very happy that I discoverd your channel.

Hi Warren, thanks for the vid. Just wondering how big the space is you are working in there and what distance you are away from Paige and what focal length lens??? I have a very tight space, like 4x4m, so use for mainly headshots, but I would like to do more shoots with clients full length like this if I can. I know it would be a squeeze, but could prob do with just a 50mm even, in some cases.

Hi Scott. Thanks for your comment. My space is a converted garage. It's about 5 meters by 5 meters. Do you have a door that you could shoot through? That would extend your shooting distance. A 50mm on a crop sensor camera is ideal for full length shots. A 50mm on a full frame is not ideal but if you keep your camera back parallel to your subject it should be ok and you won't need as much shooting distance.
