@@legitrhythms4736 I like his music, but right now he’s playing victim and that’s not cool. There were examples of what this industry was about all through our music history from Cobain to Marley. When he became hot he was a grown man. Not some child raised in the industry. The lack of knowledge these guys display show exactly why they end up exploited. You sold yourself out long before you became a star.
The craziest part to me was when T-PAIN said in an interview that he NEVER charged for his features back in the day when he was popping and back then, he was literally on everyones song!! He didn't charge them because he thought when he needed a feature from these artists, he could just call them and get it done BUUUT they didn't return the favour and did T-PAIN dirty AF 👎🤦♂️..
T-PAIN literally gave some of those artists, the BIGGEST SONG OF THEIR CAREER and they STILL did him dirty AF 🤦♂️. The music industry is a wicked place bruh 🙄😔

T-Pain is 10000% the GOAT. He was wayyy ahead of his time musically and people just didn't get it back in the early 2000s - especially with the auto-tune sound. He literally was the pioneer for that sound in the rap game and to this day sounds the best with it. Unique voice and highly underrated.

T-Pain capitalized off of easy process and letting heavy autotune do the rest, which became his signature sound. Basically anyone who does their own thing long enough will become familiar and accepted. He paved the way for heavy autotune vocals, and I would say introduced the idea to travis scott through his music, unintentionally.
I admire his self-awareness, his ability to take responsibility for his past, and most of all I admire how at ease he is with his past mistakes. That's not easy to do, coming to terms with embarrassing and avoidable mistakes in life.

Is he though? . Im hearing a lot of blame shifting like "out of all the rappers that came before me no one said it would be hard and if they had I would have held onto my money". I'm pretty sure most ppl are aware that it is really hard to make money of music and if you are lucky enough to make a hit that is one thing but to have longevity in the music industry is a whole other ball game that requires even more work. We are talking a very small percentage of ppl that find that level of fame and success. Wealth isn't easy to achieve everyone is aware of that. But It's great that he is trying to warn others to be more cautious and self aware I can't take that away.
I was an undergrad when T-Pain was big in 2007 or so and I have a LOT of fond memories with his music playing in the background. It's refreshing to see how genuine he is.

Its just beautiful seeing these 2 together both were a big part of our childhood.
Damn, never really been a T-Payne fan but this changes things. So many rappers are guarded & have polished their projected image so that you only get a glimpse into their actual struggles thru blips in their verses. The humility & candid vibe he puts off is very refreshing. Like a good dude not someone trying to seem hard.

seeing the dudes from my generation growing into themselves finally and being sober. Our generation is one that I believe struggles the hardest with dependency.
I love that he’s humble about the whole situation and there’s no shame in his game when it comes to talking about his financial issues. He’s learned from it, moved on, and can even laugh about it. Much respect.

I had the pleasure of working with T-Pain, I was only assisting on a session, but I was so suprised by how good he sings without auto-tune! This dude can legit sing his a$$ off! Easily one of the best singers I've ever heard in real life!

The reason T-Pain still one the most respected music artist is because of his authenticity and transparency.
Younger me has always been enamored by the fantasy lifestyles big time rappers project.
Older me appreciates the maturity and unabashed insight these big time rappers give us when they tell their story past their prime.

I love this humble attitude and honesty. It shows strength. At the same time, it's hard for me to understand his reasoning for not keeping a better eye on his money. He may have been led astray by others, but still feels like his responsibility.

This man is literally making Art, doing shows back to back, TV appearances, NightClub appearances, 16 plus studio sessions, and so much more. They almost never have tile to sit down and check anything. This is why they have so many assistants and advisors.
A lot of black people come from this background in entertainment and sports and it shows in their relationship with money. However, why is the education not passed, there is over 100 years of generations of musicians that have gone through this why does it keep happening to this degree.

To be fair even though “nobody” says the money runs dry, I have heard countless people say the money runs dry.
I think the ones that DON'T go broke are actually the exception.
I hear him… but he literally is talking about fourth houses and Bugatti’s. I think when you have that much money, you have to be financially literate. There are people who make $500-$1000 a month and in desperate need of help to the point where they literally have no time to even think about going broke because there trying to literally eat the next day💁♂️
I understand that being young and surrounded by yes men types it would be extremely tough to not spend money like crazy. I would have. I just don’t buy the “no one ever told me the money runs dry”. Just say “I went nuts and lived it up for a while”.
I think another big part of it too was that social media wasn't as prevalent. You didn't see your peers go broke or get their stuff impounded. On top of that this man jumped into another tax bracket pretty quick for the time.
