Place is an absolute gem. One of the foundations of Milwaukee. Classy and trashy all in one. You literally walk into a Billy Joel song.
I could watch 20 more minutes of Dave doing a review like this, in a place like Zaffiros. I love seeing Dave really into a place all filled with nostalgia. You never know what's going to happen or who he'll talk to and that's the fun of it.

You make me miss Italian restaurants up North. The ice cold salad in individual bowls kept in the fridge with saran wrap, the over sauced lasagna that forces you to eat the bread and dip in the leftover sauce, and the staff that are either are related to the owner or started there as a kid.

TBH this pizza is one of the best I have ever had. Topping ratios are perfect and that IS real Milwaukee pizza!

Such a shame that MARIA'S PIZZA in GREENFIELD closed last year - There were people lined up for BLOCKS on their last day and Dave DEFINITELY would've loved that restaurant and its history. 💯🍕

Holy Mother of Lasagna, what a gem of a place, another road trip for me.
Been waiting my whole life for this review. Glad the experience did not disappoint. I swear if Prez had come a few years ago, it would have been higher. Zaffiro’s has dropped off in recent years. Pizza used to be best in the city.
What a crazy time to be alive, never thought I'd see the day Dave eats a salad. That also looked like a very basic salad to get excited over.

I worked at a sicilian bistro years ago. They had a house salad, pretty basic but holy fuck the dressing was the most amazing thing I ever had. But yeah that salad looked normal as fuck lol

Didn't look like much that's for sure. And nothing pisses me off more than a tiny bowl. So over stuffed that I can't even mix the dressing or salt and pepper around a bit

Thanks for doing this Dave, I knew you'd like it. Now you walk over to the Nomad for a beer and even better time with the locals. Zaffiro's is king. Demarinis is pretty good too but one of them or both might have closed. Zaffiro's is our pride and joy!

I couldn't imagine being at a dinner table with Dave and having to watch him eat lasagna like that. It's possible to cut bites that actually fit in your mouth

I live in Boston but grew up in Milwaukee. I go to Zaffiros every time I visit.
For a paper thin / bar pie, that should have gotten 7.8, but I get its not Dave's top tier choice style of pizza. Love the review and respect he gives these joints as always..

We went to Zaffiro's a couple years ago and met the owners. The kindest people you could ever meet. The pizza is a solid 8.3, sorry Dave!
Way too low on Zaffiro's and too high on Wells Bros, but he did really describe and show the great atmosphere of the place!
the waitress doesn't know what she's talking about. the thin square cut is all over the place in the midwest. It's not Milwaukee style. It's literally everywhere, and it was most likely stolen from Chicago
Thank you for visiting Milwaukee Dave. Curious what brought you there. There's so much more than Italian food and pizza. I worked in a restaurant north of Milwaukee in the 90's and we just called those lasagna dishes "boats".
I said 7.1 cuz pizza lookin meh but you look like you really like the place and feeling good so I added a bit, and boom you hit us with the 7.2, so happy I can guess these, also eating lasagna while you're reviewing lasagna lets gooo!! looking great, love the lack of any vegetable haha, keep it up Dave!

finely some corrected him on his total lack of knowledge on pizza once he leaves the east cost. he has been calling thin crust that is piece cut Chicago style in like 30 reviews when they cut it like that all over the country. Maybe the pizza expert should try watching a few dozen youtube videos of different pizza styles.

You need to go to Vinchis pizza on the southside of Milwaukee they open at 4pm but closed Monday Tuesday. By far the best in Milwaukee.

Yup, that's an amazing place. I think their thin crust pizzas have better flavor than Zaffiros. Took my high rolling chef buddy there last year and he loved it!
