It’s taken away the fans joy of celebrating goals, some guy in a office saying it’s a penalty or handball with all other matches being totally different decisions for same players action. Infuriating and just leave to one ref in middle and most fans can abide by that. Get rid
Only episode that comes to mind for me about VAR being bad was a player took a boot to the head and neither VAR or ref did call anything. But when he stayed down the ref stopped play.
It's important to note that VAR in a league like Eliteserien in Norway will never be on the same level as top leagues, there's simply not a budget for plenty of cameras and sensors. Spending a big chunk of it on VAR is to begin with idiotic for a small league.
Norwegian here, the main reason there is a massive anti VAR movement in Norway is not because of VAR in particular but the fact that the system doesnt work well enough in the Norwegian league. There’s not enough camera angles/equipment to get good enough images and frankly the people operating VAR does not seem to be well enough trained. Of course there’s still the same criticism as the rest of the world/bigger leagues have, but if there was a bigger investment into VAR here then there would probably not be the same anti movement.
This is not the problem. It has nothing to do with VAR and the amount of cameras we got. Is all about the lack of celebrations on the goals when ewery goal could be taken away.
@@magnusbe Again, maybe not for you. But don’t come here and say its about celebrations like this last guy because its the most low-witted, Low-IQ excuse ive ever heard. Nobody celebrates less because of VAR the alternative would likely be more disallowed goals.
The only advantage of VAR is in offside situations and penalty situations, HOWEVER, it takes way too much time and disrupt the flow of the game and you can never celebrate a goal anymore IN real time. And, you wonder what kind of system they use when it takes up to 4-5 min to come to a conclusion. Either they need to update a system that immediately show them the answer, or they should do like in ice hockey, handball etc and use several refs. One behind each goal line who can decide penalty situations if the ref hasnt seen what happened etc. Also, those refs can watch all the holding/pushing on corners, cause there are a lot of fouls done by defenders who doesnt care about the ball, only to stop players. And goal keepers also gets too easily freekick inside the box on corners particularly.
It’s all about contracts and money, it’s not about whether it affects the viewing and playing experience of the game. It kills the game. When human errors happened in the past, annoying yes, but understandable. Now??? Mistakes are happening that are more divisive and there’s no spontaneity anymore??? Ignoring the point of why we find the sport engaging is going to be the straw that breaks the camels back
Really proud of my Sweden voting against VAR. I absolutely hate when we play in Europe with VAR where you can’t celebrate goals because the referees actively looking for possible fouls. Let’s hope Norway is successful in removing the cancer out of their league!
"Football without fans is nothing" no longer applies except in a literal sense. Between endless slow motion replays and social media the absolute worst part of football is the fans. Annoying
I have been to and seen a lot of vlogs from a lot of games and I have NEVER seen fans NOT celebrate a goal like crazy when they score, it might stop quickly once they see the "VAR" on the screen but so does seeing the linesman with his flag up. This whole "I dont celebrate anymore" is complete BS.
@LordHighness you literally said you dont celebrate THE SAME anymore, which is not the same as NOT celebrating anymore, which is what I was talking about. But you not celebrating the same anymore does not apply to all goals, only those where you think there might be an offside or a foul. The goals where there is no doubt about the legitimacy, you are celebrating like crazy and if you're not then I'm sorry to have to tell you but maybe you were just NEVER that fan. So, while I don't doubt your existence, I do perhaps doubt the existence of the fan you think you once were. And this is all coming from a Villa supporter where last season we not only had the highest number of goal checks (12 different games) we also had the longest single goal check in epl history, over 5 minutes. The point is that since the introduction of VAR, the number of offside calls has gone down, and the percentage of correct offside calls has gone up. I think we have to keep our nerves and remain calm until the automated offside kicks in, and then at the end of the season, we can talk about VAR and if we should keep it or not.
Fans are stupid, simple as that. They’re going to take it away and the very first game there’s going to be multiple decisions that are wrong against their team and they’re going to abuse the refs and complain and throw a fit. VAR isn’t perfect and sometimes it takes too long but at the end of the day it’s getting far more decisions right, and as much as people hate losing a certain celebration factor or whatever I guarantee you they hate losing unfairly more. Need I mention the England ghost goal? Maradona hand of god?
People just want to whine! The way VAR is done isn't great, but how many times has VAR overruled the call on the pitch because the rule on the pitch was wrong? What about offsides, the refs on the pitch do a pretty good job with offsides, but when the decision comes down to a coupe inches the refs on the pitch are pretty bad and VAR is there to resolve the decision, usually correctly. So, what's the problem with VAR? Well, even with VAR you still have the decision of the VAR official and they do not get it right every time -- when they get it wrong it's usually because the let slide a foul that is borderline. In any decision there are people happy and there are people unhappy -- it's the unhappy people that whine the most so we are left with people whining and now we have to decide to keep or punt VAR. Let me preview the consequence of getting rid of VAR ... Instead of a 10% failure rate with VAR we'll get a 20% failure rate without VAR -- I'd argue that's not an improvement. Also, once VAR is gone the whining will stop .. right? RIGHT? Answer ... NO, the whining will not stop it will in fact get louder! Seriously, this great game is being held hostage by f'ing whiners!
I do not go in for conspiracy theories, but at the time of the last World Cup I saw a phone advert which showed the camera allowed video editing in real time. Since the video referees receive the information at a remote location, I was surprised the coincidence of this with the technology did not cause more conspiracy theories.

You guys have absolutely no idea! And You don't know what VAR fans will do, if the haters win this battle. One advice to You, before making more videos about the "VAR WAR" in Norway - do Your homework, and find out what's really going on!
VAR has raised expectation bar for getting the correct decision in the minds of fans. If we now decide to get rid of VAR in would be a disaster. If the refs using VAR stopped being egomaniacs and trying to stamp their authority on every minute detail of the match (especially looking for any possible reason to disallow a goal) then fans would be much more accepting of VAR.

Last night Molde would have been robbed for two goals that the linesman flagged for offside. VAR corrected him twice....

There are two things wrong with VAR at the moment. One) the refs. Two) VAR looks at everything but the right thing.
