To those wondering about the reference to Hinduism and its incorporation of Jesus, this claim is based on several contemporary movements in Hinduism, like the group assoicated with Sri Ramakrishna (d. 1886) who have indeed argued for Jesus as an Avatar.

As an atheist, I have to say this was refreshingly balanced, unbiased and well-sourced. I grow tired of videos, articles and books that mock believers with non-stop atheistic dogma, as much as I do those that present atheists as immoral elitists and tout Jesus's divinity as objective fact.

I know that this has been already said a thousand times but it keeps being true: "Atheistic dogma" is a contraction in itself, I think. If I invented and truly believed in a figure, let's say my imaginary friend Charlie, it would be strange to call others acharlieists and accuse them of spreading acharlieist dogma, whenever they say "come on, there is no Charlie". Acharlyism is the default state. If Charlie exists, I must prove it. "Atheism" is a poisoned word, it tries to manipulate the mind by introducing backdoor that there is a god or gods.

      @mythbuster1483 ปีที่แล้ว

@@joshua2400 The bible has been completely debunked by science, archaeology and biblical scholarship, but you can actually *PROVE* the bible is false yourself. The anonymous, biased fanatics who wrote the gospel fairy tales claimed that Jesus promised: "If you believe, you will receive whatever you ask for in prayer" (Matt. 21:22), “Whatever you ask of the Father in my name, he will give it to you" (John 16:23), "whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours" (Mark 11:24). So turn on your video camera and pray for Jesus to appear to you RIGHT NOW, and post the result to TH-cam! Jesus will never appear because the authors of the gospel tales were proven liars. Praying to Jesus is no different than praying to Zeus, Odin, a Flying Spaghetti Monster, or to any other fictional character in a book. All Christians can do is make pathetic excuses for why this NEVER works, despite the bible’s promises. *FACTS*
      1) If Jesus was real, and a god, he COULD appear to you, or to anyone.
      2) He supposedly appeared to others in ancient stories that we have no evidence for (Acts 1:3).
      3) Jesus supposedly promised that believers would “receive whatever you ask for in prayer” (Matt 21:22).
      4) Regardless how much you pray or ask...Jesus won't appear.
The most likely explanation for the above? Jesus won’t appear because he CAN’T. Fictional literary characters can't hear prayers or do anything in real life.
The fact that so many Christians have to film videos and post comments defending their debunked book of ancient mythology is proof that the bible is false, and that the magic prayer superpowers promised by the liars who wrote the gospel tales don’t work. “Do not put my ridiculous claims to the test” said the liar to the fool.

@Aaron of Ruth Don’t murder any babies ‘on faith’ today just because some member of a death cult claims that God said so. "This is what the Lord Almighty says...put to death men and women, children and infants." (1 Samuel 15:2-3). So you’d murder your neighbor’s entire family, including his infant, if some man claimed that Jesus appeared to him and said you should? If it says so in a book with a talking snake, talking donkey, 900-year-old men, virgin birth and zombies, written by anonymous, biased members of a death cult who thought the world was flat and illness was caused by demons, then it MUST be a reliable source of real history, right?!! *SUCKER* - “a person who believes everything they are told and is therefore easy to deceive” - Cambridge Dictionary

I guess I am personnally still questioning the existence or not of a God and have no clear answer yet, but one reason why I stopped going to church a long time ago was (1 thing of many) the fact that I always felt that churches were teaching what was convenient for them, and were hiding/ ignoring many historical facts, or ancient writings...and so on and so forth.

The sixth century monk Dionysius Exiguus developed a calendar system for numbering the years based on the birth of Jesus thus the years are in Anno Domini (in the year of the Lord, A.D.). However, he counted backward wrong and his count of the years backward to the birth of Jesus was off several years. (Jesus was born between 7-8 BC and 4-5 BC, Before Christ). This year numbering system became standard around AD 800.

The psychadelic mushroom theory is interesting because Jesus is known for preaching love, and people who take psychadelic drugs report having a feeling of love for everybody. Also, herbs/drugs/vegetation also points to the cross, which is a symbolic tree, as well as Jesus' body being bread and his blood being wine/grapes. Other so-called "dying-rising gods" are also associated with vegetation/herbs/drugs, such as the Ugaritic god Baal Hadad being resurrected as fruit; the Sumerian god Dumuzi and the cedar tree; the Egyptian god Osiris and the acacia tree, barley, and wheat; the Phoenician god Adonis and the anemone flower and red poppies (which in turn associate him with opium); the Phrygian god Attis and almonds and pomegranates; the Hittie god Telipinu and the oak tree; the Norse god Balder and the oak tree and mistletoe; the Greek god Dionysus and wine/grapes, pomegranates, and the pine tree; the Greek god Hyacinthus and the Hyacinth flower; the Roman mythology hero Pyramus and the mulberry tree; the Irish god Miach and "365 herbs". There is also the Slavic god Jarilo (although I'm not sure if he is associated with any particular herb or plant).

From 900s AD to 50s-70s AD. It clearly lays out all of the classic Christian dogmas, from prohibiting abortion to forbidding premarital sex and so on for those who are curious.

Christianity began as sun worship, the stories about Jesus are symbolic.
He is just a personification of the sun, made into a god figure later on.
The sun "dies" for 3 days on December 22nd, the winter solstice, when it stops its movement south, to be born again or resurrected on December 25th, when it resumes its movement north.
In some areas, the calendar originally began in the constellation of Virgo, and the sun would therefore be "born of a Virgin"
The sun rising in the morning is "the saviour of mankind"
The sun is "The light of the World"
The sun "walks on water" is just the reflection of the sun on water/the sea.
"He cometh on clouds, and every eye shall see him", is just sun rays.
Jesus' "crown of thorns" is just the sun's glare, also know as a halo.
The sun's "followers", "helpers" or "disciples" are the 12 months and the 12 signs of the zodiac or constellations, through which the sun must pass.
The sun at 12 noon is in the house or temple of the "Most High": thus.."he" begins "his Father's work" at "age" 12.
The sun enters into each sign of the zodiac at 30 degrees, hense, the "Sun of God" begins his ministry at "age" 30.
The sun is hung on a cross or "crucified", which represents its passing through the equinoxes.
The vernal equinox being Easter, at which time it is then resurrected.
The reason why saviour myths are so similar with a godman who is crucified and resurrected, who does miracles and has 12 disciples, is that these stories were based on the movements of the sun through the heavens, an astrotheological development that can be found throughout the planet, because the sun and the 12 zodiac signs can be observed around the globe.
In other words, Jesus Christ and all the others upon whom this character is predicated are personifications of the sun, and the Gospel fable is merely a rehash of a mythological formula revolving around the movements of the sun through the heavens.
Jesus is a fictional allegory for the sun. Christianity is ancient astrology. It's just fables about the sun.

(Atheist here) I think one of the reasons there would be no trace of Jesus could be that he was not an important figure at all at the time of his life. There was so much going on in Israel then, including various schisms, that this particular one did not particularly attract attention. After all, as you said: most people were illiterate and this was not how news circulated.
Now, to the point of whether the various events of his life were as related in the Gospels. No way. His life was re-written in order to fit the tropes of the messianic being, but that really does not matter. There was a charismatic leader of a schism whose disciples went to evangelise Africa (Ethiopia, obviously: there were commercial links between Israel and the land of the Queen of Shebah, so many there were Ethiopian followers of X too) and Europe. Actually, Josephus mentioning that this Jesus had Greek followers explains why some of his followers fled to Europe.
Jesus was a Jew...he never ceased to be a Jew. Was he really killed by the Jews? I do not think so, because in fact, the Romans had the upperhand in Israel, and Pontius Pilatus was doing the Romans' bidding. We know they wanted peace in Israel and had experienced several uprisings (The Macchabees etc). Israel was a prize possession with wheat etc, and civil unrest is bad for business.

I was raised as a Christian, but im Agnostic now. I think Jesus could have been one person, or perhaps he was a few different peoples stories put together, or perhaps he was just a symbol of faith and a means of spreading a message. Regardless, im a big fan of the New Testament and that Jesus is real to me. Though i might not follow christianity, i still live by what Jesus taught and find so much Biblical teaching to be wonderful as a way to deal with the struggle of being human.
Whatever jesus means to people i think how many believe in him in each different way that we do, makes him real anyway. Whatever that means for you. Thats i guess why beliefs are so very personal. ❤

Great video. Thanks for the very open-minded exploration of these questions. As to the existence of Jesus, it seems that those who deny his existence entirely, claiming that he is simply a fabricated character no more "real" than Batman, have a much more difficult thesis to support than those who accept his existence regardless of how the meaning of his life might be defined. As to "who" he was, that shall forever remain a mystery just as the "true identity" of each of us is irreducibly mysterious and can never be captured by any set of beliefs.

    • @mythbuster1483
      @mythbuster1483 ปีที่แล้ว

Nope. To put it bluntly, all Christians have to back up their faith is "Some unknown guy pulled a claim out of his ass". You have ZERO corroboration for any of these stories, and all you can do is repeat ridiculous claims from unknown cult members and logical fallacies. Liars can claim anything, and “Fools will believe anything” (Prov. 14:15, New Century Version), but liars and fools can't present actual EVIDENCE that their claims are true, which is why you can’t. All you have are absurd stories by anonymous cult members in a book with a talking snake, talking donkey, 900-year-old men, virgin birth and zombies, that promises magical poison-resistance to believers: "And these signs will accompany those who believe...when they drink deadly poison, it will not hurt them at all" (Mark 16:17-18). Go ahead!
