Great insights Stephen - I expect most people that pick up their first USB microphone don't really understand the different mic cell types or the different listening patterns that mics might have, and how that [should] affect the way you set it up, including the physical setup. I had a similar challenge with setup, using a similar are to your original but mounted above the monitors - it put the mic in front of me, but also in my line-of-sight to the screens. I recently replaced it with telescoping boom stand that mounts to the desk via a 3D printed adapter and I can now get it quickly into and out of position, without it blocking my view. Lots of great options out there and I've heard others also say how much they like the Elgato arm.
Wow that 3D printed option sounds awesome. I thought about the boom arm option, but my camera is mounted above my monitor so I figured it would get in the shot.

I am starting to worry MSFT will have to replace you when G4 offers you a big contract to "talk tech" for them :-)
