The H&K USP is a pioneer from the 1990's. It featured multiple innovations that especially for the time, were pretty wild. It can be run in double to single action, and you can also swap to the LEM (law enforcement modification) trigger. USP stands for Universal Self Loading Pistol.

My first handgun was a usp 40 in the late 90s. I still love it. I swapped to a lem trigger a few years ago and it was a big improvement. I'm willing to bet if hk updated the usp with am optics cut and a 1913 rail, they would sell like crazy

@@Chrisblau our biggest problem is our parliamentary and electoral system that allows the greater Toronto area to effectively decide every election, and the federal nature of our firearms laws. If gun laws were provincial rather than mostly federal, sort of like how gun laws are mostly determined at a state level down there, places like Alberta would likely have gun laws comparable to Arizona, Alaska, Wyoming, Montana, and etc.

This was the first firearm I bought for myself about 30 years ago. USP 45. It is, and I think always will be, the best and most enjoyable pistol I will ever own. It makes a great home defense weapon, but not carry. Don't like the mushy double action trigger, but the single action is good. You field strip it to maybe four components so easily. It's inherent engineering genius makes it just look so simple. I'd never think about selling it.

First USP was one of my HK Grail guns the USP Expert 9mm. A couple of years later I picked up a USP 40 on a impulse, up to that pointed I hated .40 s&w. I had James convert that pistol to LEM sometime back and it goes to the range every trip. I deeply regret not jumping on the USP40 Expert LE trade ins a couple of years ago.

USP 9 FS, USP 9 Compact, USP 9 Tactical, USP 9 Expert, USP 9 Elite, USP 45 FS, USP 45 Tactical, USP 45 Compact, USP 40 FS, HK45c, HK VP9, and two Mark 23's. I think that's all of them but maybe forgetting one or two.

For factory unmodified guns the USP, P99, and P226 I think are some of the finest guns ever made. Probably the most tested handgun platforms tested through LEO, State, and Military endurance and reliability testing like no other handgun platforms. My favorite aspect of these guns is they are the perfect blend of old and new thinking. Thought for total war Red invasion all supply likes cut off and counter terror high focus on supply chain and logistics too. Simple things like double strike capability, end of the world durability, but provisions for mounting lights, ergonomics, good triggers, light weight materials etc. All a mainstay in my systems.

Always wanted a USP and this year I realized they were taken off the CA roster in 2022. Coworker from work had one and I always talked to him about it. On his last day there we got drinks and told him we had to hit the range, I just had to find a USP first to match his. He said his always sat in the box and offered $250 for it. I ended up paying him $350 and it came with 4 mags. Put some trijicon night sites on it and went to the range to get most of my groupings at the head of the target. Best firearm purchase I've ever done.

The USP line is legendary. I’ve owned 2 of them for years. I’ve stayed away from the P series because for me the USP line reigns supreme and has everything I want. The USP till today commands a lot of money. You wouldn’t think so with the current firearms that’s available today but they do. The P series on the other hand are much more affordable running between $600-$700 in any caliber. The USP line even used starts at $900 and goes up from there. The USP will continue to be relevant but may be out of reach when it comes to cost.

I owned a brand new 1200 dollar Sig 1911, then a brand new Glock 23, and settled for a used USP.
After I sold that gun I immediately started looking for another and found it.
USP is the gun I used to look at in gun stores, never thinking I was gonna own one. My favorite pistol.

The USP was my first pistol. I've been very fortunate to have had VERY good luck. I've bought 4 USP's and never paid over 400 for any of them.

I'm my opinion the LEM trigger , once you install a gray guns short reset kit the THE best hammer fired trigger if you don't intend to carry cocked and locked.
My P30L with that upgrade is phenomenal.

The USP series is legendary in it's own right.. Def a quality and super well made rugged gun.. Back in it's hey day of the late 90s to early 00s it was a top 3 handgun choice along with the Gen 3 Glocks and the quality German framed Sig 226s/228s/229s ... Since its zenith in that point of time its prob moved from a top 3 list to a top 10 list, but still a relevant and durable firearm... Some of the downsides of the gun is that its really more suited to .45 and .40 over 9mm and within the last 10 to 15 years where lighter higher capacity 9mms have flooded the market its def diminished the role of the USP... And being held to 13 round .40 cal mags and 15 round 9mm mags while the other common guns carry 15 and 17 isn't helping either... In the year 2022 the most relevant USP is actually the .45 because a 12 round super durable and reliable .45 makes it a top 3 combat/duty .45 handgun along with the Glock 21 and CZ P10F .45.

Ive owned a number of hk’s in the past and currently own a uspc in .357sig. Ill never sell that pistol. Ive also purchased the lem kit for my uspc and installed it myself. I just wish i could find a threaded .357sig barrel so i may have to purchase a 9mm slide assembly/mags because i love the way usp/c’s look suppressed. Im also a lefty and really like the paddle style mag release. I personally feel the usp line looks the best compared to the newer models hk has released.

My first gun was a Beretta 96. I settled on a Beretta because of Lethal Weapon and just about every other movie/show in the late 80's early 90s. I got the 96 for the .40SW which was hyped as the better option at the time.
If I could go back, I would opt for a Beretta 92 or the USP which was my second choice at the time and only passed on because of price ($400 vs $800).

My first pistol was a USP-45 (bought by my dad, with my money, at a gunshow in 98’ when I was 16). Being ignorant of gun laws, I used to carry that pistol in my truck for years including to my first state-side duty station where it was confiscated (because I was still under 21🤦🏻‍♂️). I’ve owned a USP-45 Compact Tactical since and I currently own a USP-45 Compact with the stainless slide (just because I think it’s pretty). Mine have been great shooters.
