- This is a fun and challenging solo for unaccompanied horn. The background is the Mormon Tabernacle on Temple Square in Salt Lake City where I perform most weeks as a member of the Orchestra at Temple Square, Subscribe! I will be adding more solos on a regular basis. I teach horn at a University and my goal is to create a video library of some of the best horn solos for my students and others. Also let me know if there is something you would like me to record. Check out my website at www.steveparkho....
Being in Highschool where pretty much no one can ever play the french horn to save their life, it's always nice being able to hear an extremely talented horn player
That was my "well here we go" look!!!
Adorable piece, fabulous playing, as usual! But what a chops buster! No rests, piano interlude; just constant, non stop playing all over the range for nearly 4 minutes! How many horn players can even do this? Every video you produce amazes me, but this one tops my "wow" list.
Oh my goodness, you sound phenomenal. I plan to perform this piece for my college auditions which are coming up. As a student, the goal is first to imitate, then make your own. Thank you for being the artist that I strive to imitate. 🙏🏽
excellently played!😊
I recorded this at home, but I already had the picture of the Tabernacle and knew I was going to use it as a background, so I added extra reverb to the recording.
stickom - your comments are always so interesting and unique. Thanks for watching.
I learned how to play this song because of you.
I still can not play it really well, but I know it's a lot better than it would have been without listening, so, thank you. You are fantastic.
Amazing! I always love your videos
Catchy even jocular character in the opening turns to nice almost mellow, mysterious with Steves substantial tone, ending in echoes before the refrain. Now, typical horn music, very nice and virtuoso, I guess- all horns should like this!!!!! At the end, furious and cheerful again opening melody light, optimistic and naïve, just enough to listen one more time!
Actually crying because I want to be this good at French Horn
Sheesh! You make it look so easy.
Fantastic job and great Interpretation! I have always enjoyed this piece.
Awesome playing Steve, as always ... and in one take! Impressive.
Thanks for this!!! Inspiring!!! Beautiful.
I wondered where you got such an excellent replica of the Mormon Tabernacle organ... then I saw the background behind it and wondered how you got to record youtube videos in the Tabernacle. Now it all makes sense...
Bravo 📯👋😉👍👏👏👏!!!
If I'm not mistaken, it goes from the b-flat above the staff to the c below middle c.
Nice job! I loved it!
I absolutley loved this! thank you for sharing. my director told me to find a good horn sound and get it in my head, i think i found it :) keep doing what youre doing!
even with flat finger positioning you can still pretty much nail those faster passages... good job!
i have my uni audition in Feb and am considering playing this piece. i recently got my grade 8 one month after having my braces put on which was a huge suprise as the braces really affected my playing. i was wondering, as your a horn player at uni if you have any tips for an audition as i have no idea what to expect apart from some positive criticism...
Thanks!!! I did use music. It's just not in the picture. I got this piece a couple of months ago. Someone asked me to record it. Any time you see me with my reading glasses on, I am using music.
You are the best horn player I have ever heard Mr. Park. What type of horn do you use?
nice to hear!
hello ohsteacher do you i am 16 and i play french horn i have just finished my grade 5 and i am doing GCSE recordings at school do you have a copy of this piece or where to get it from?
i think your brill and you have really inspired me to play more challenging pieces
thanks
@ohsteacher I wondered about the accoustics, if this were post remodel of the tabernacle or if you had just put the photo on your computer.
Do you have any tips for practicing this piece? I'm playing it for Solo and Ensemble and would love some input.
You rule. Seriously.
Anybody knows were can i find the sheet music for this? btw. very nice playing!
What a great performance! But it could be better...I like it with even more drama, more flair, more emotion. That's not to say, however, that I can play it nearly as well!
What is the range on this? It sounds pretty high as well as fairly low
c to Bb''
Wow
You're not British. Are you?
