The cryptic warning in the dream happens if you get to April 1st. Which again is just a warning that you're almost out of time. But if you wait another 2 weeks (April 15th), you automatically get the bad ending.
Imagine the biggest fan, walking RP, visiting, seeking for secrets, spending a lot of time to get 100% collectible, max scores at arcade, speaking to everyone as much as possible ... to finally get the Game Over.

You are mistaken, you can infact save A Lot more money than is required for the plane ticket and easily avoid this ending....basically you can waste as much time as you want, the only way this will ever happen is if you want it to....or if you are mind bendingly incompetant
This bad ending is around the same time Shenmue 3 takes place. In 3 your already in Bailu village with Shenhua but here you just stay in Japan and get bad ending lol.
I feel sorry for people who never actually got far enough into the game to know there was a second mirror. The easiest way to lose days is the flashlight QTE and stealth section right BEFORE you find out there's another mirror, which to be honest really sucks.
Finding old warehouse number eight the first time was a pain in the ass! I lost at least 8-10 days. Still beat it in plenty of time, though. Amazing franchise.
I never thought it realistically possible to chance upon wasting enough time to fail the game, until you mentioned this, and I realised a whole day passes for a retry

Kaz Kobb You do have shotguns, but it is to my understanding quite the process to get them. And to use one on Lan Di, while crude and effective would probably get you in a ton of trouble.

By not caring about the story such as wasting your time playing arcade games which would take a long ass time to get to or you purposely fail the QTE when trying to find the Old Warehouse at night repeatedly since it goes to the next day when you fail it. I finished the game during January since there was a bonus cutscene around December so I had to purposely fail that QTE in order to get it.

Lan-Di would have left for good and would not have killed Ryo. Because really, if the player did nothing but play arcades, buy toy capsules, drink soda and buy cassette tapes. Why would Lan-Di want to kill some kid who just living his life and made no attempt to come after him? Since he is the head of the Chi You Men, he would have other concerns instead.

In the mission where you're looking for master chen's warehouse I deliberately got caught until spring but I never saw this cause I kept buying capsule toys so I never had enough money for the plane ticket

i was looking through the passport to which scenes i missed, i was missing 2, the post christmas with nozomi one, and some other one, turns out was this. this is the best gameover cutscene ive seen.
No, this is incorrect. the 5 miss-able cut scenes (that show up in passport) were nozomi and enoki; nozomis confession; nozomis tears; xia San and the Phoenix mirror; and iwao/Ryo under the cherry tree.
To be fair the player could be anywhere in the game by the time they get this ending. So it would probably present a big "what?" if they didn't reach the point where Chen explains the stories of the mirrors yet. But then, that'd give it more contex..nevermind. xD
I think it's quite easy to get this. You get too enveloped by its atmosphere that you can forget about the plot. But it's never happened to me and for that I am thankful because it feels like a nightmare
you really cant get this unless you are trying to, its set so far after the game start date that you pretty much need to play the game for a few hundred real life hours or absue the shit out of the wharehouse 8 search that skips you ahead a day
It's not easy to naturally get this. You would be playing the game an overtly long amount of time and exhausted every line of dialogue from every NPC WAY before the bad ending would be possible.
The easiest way to get this is to keep failing the QTE when catching the flashlight at the Old Warehouse District. Every time it's failed a day will pass, and you get right to retrying the QTE afterwards. Of course you'd have to successfully sneak into Warehouse #8 on March 31st if you want to get Shenhua's warning then play the game until April 15th. Otherwise put your controller down, keep failing the QTE and you'll get transported home on the night of April 14th.
Lan di is just time you can never beat him because of that it's all just been a logic test the whole time. Now I will commit senpuku because I have brain damage from listening to the great chai

To be fair it would take some time for the cops to come, I'd imagine Lan Di would just chase Ryo down and do the same move on him if he tried calling the cops or simply waited for the cops to arrive.
I've never gotten this ending. I think I've only beaten the game once but I had no intention of ever seeking it out. Too tedious anyway to fail day in and out when the game's greatest strength is the numerous ways you can blow your time away.

I love how im December 5th and I’m still playing this game looking for the three blades. I’m starting to think it’s impossible to get to April, without a tutorial I’ll probably finish this game in January or February because it’s a slow process compared to zelda majoras mask. It’s basically like real life and That’s why I like this game because it’s not necessary to rush things in life.

If you want to get this ending (not sure why you would apart from the novelty of it...though it is kinda badass) the best way is to keep getting caught when trying to sneak into Warehouse No. 8 (old warehouse district) to see Chen. It skips to the next night every time and when you get past a certain date you get this. The bad ending for Shenmue 2 can be achieved in the barber shop by pressing a button when he puts the blade to your throat. Keep doing that every day.

@@Green-Raccoon777 so... we saw this comment years later and decided to test this in an emulator with bad end save files. you are wrong. it doesn't delete your save file at all. it retains it and kicks you back to the start menu. tested this with a shenmue II bad end save as well, and it doesn't delete your save either. you might be misremembering how this ending works considering the fact that you're most likely to have saved immediately before sleeping, right before getting the bad ending. which essentially puts you in an unwinnable fail-state in whatever save slot you used, forcing you to start a new save manually yourself.
Yeah, but you should have plenty of time to complete the game before you even get close to april 15th. The game is very long but you have lots of spare days. The developers intended to give you lots of extra time so you could explore the vast world and not worry about it. There needed to be a limit however, giving us the only game over in the game.

Does this mean in Shenmue 2 on April 15th LAN di goes back 2 Ryo house and kills Fuku San?
Turns out it's the good ending, because at least Ryo found Lan-Di at the end.
and sadly that is the real ending.
If you want to get this ending (not sure why you would apart from the novelty of it...though it is kinda badass) the best way is to keep getting caught when trying to sneak into Warehouse No. 8 (old warehouse district) to see Chen. It skips to the next night every time and when you get past a certain date you get this. The bad ending for Shenmue 2 can be achieved in the barber shop by pressing a button when he puts the blade to your throat. Keep doing that every day.

Once you get this game over screen, are you able to play on your save file afterwords? Are you able to carry on the save file to Shenmue 2?
Actually it's rather vindictive. If you get this ending, Your save file gets deleted, forcing you to start over.

@@Green-Raccoon777 so... we saw this comment years later and decided to test this in an emulator with bad end save files. you are wrong. it doesn't delete your save file at all. it retains it and kicks you back to the start menu. tested this with a shenmue II bad end save as well, and it doesn't delete your save either.
you might be misremembering how this ending works considering the fact that you're most likely to have saved immediately before sleeping, right before getting the bad ending. which essentially puts you in an unwinnable fail-state in whatever save slot you used, forcing you to start a new save manually yourself.

Yeah, but you should have plenty of time to complete the game before you even get close to april 15th. The game is very long but you have lots of spare days. The developers intended to give you lots of extra time so you could explore the vast world and not worry about it. There needed to be a limit however, giving us the only game over in the game.
