As a former principal for BSSD at Savoonga (1990-1993) I did not know Jim yet but I knew the risks of flying in Alaska on a daily basis. While we were there we lost 3 planes out of Nome with people aboard and all of them hurt deeply. Alaska is a big state with a small population and everyone pulls for each other. We all got to know Jim and his family from Flying Wild Alaska and it seems the world came to love them as I know the local population does. Jim was a huge piece of the fabric of the entire Bering Strait region. Please lean together as a community and support his family. They are tough but fragile and can use all the love and support available, both locally and country wide. Please remember them all in your prayers. Sincerely, Dr. Jim Lewis

Oh wow, that exact same thing happened to me too when I lost my dear grandma back in 1998. A bird I'd never seen before entered her house and flew around a bit before leaving. My ma and me were bewildered and shocked, but we knew it was gran. Although my grandma loved birds and fed some house sparrows every day (they came to the house and tapped on her window when they were hungry), I'd never seen any bird enter her house.
The thing is, every time something significant happens in my life I see that bird. We just sold our house (not my grandma's property, totally different part of Israel), it was a very stressful ordeal, but after a few years and we finally made the sale, I was sitting on the balcony enjoying a cup of coffee and I saw that bird again in the trees.
So I do believe Ferno when she says Jim sent those crows. Such a sad loss and I'm sure Jim's up there looking after you from above. May he RIP.

It's so refreshing to see and hear the family being so grounded in their beliefs and heritage traditions. It takes me back three years to when America had those foundations. The concept that Jim touched so many and in a positive way is so true. Six years ago I was on a connector flight from St. Louis to Marion, Illinois. As we loaded the Cessna 402 business-liner (Cape Air), several of the passengers became nervous about the overcast weather conditions. The pilot was busy getting his taxi clearance so I (as a private pilot, and sitting in the copilot seat) asked the passengers to note the jacket the pilot was wearing (from Jim's air charter service in Alaska) and commented that the pilot likely had more hours in severe weather conditions than I had in total. Once the jacket logo was noted, virtually everyone on the plane acknowledged they were fans of Jim's show and a feeling of confidence prevailed. Such is Jim's legacy ... along with so much more.

What a loss. Ariel was a charmer. He was contracted by our guide to fly us to our Hunt camp. We spoke with Mr.Tweto about him one day taking a break and coming to South Africa. Where we would take him on a hunt. What a wonderful seriously funny man.
I remember him telling us it might be choppy. Told us to eat peanut butter and jam for lunch. Because it tastes same coming back as it did going down.
Gave us " Whoppee Bags " what a wonderful pilot...

Never met Jim but met many from ADF&G who spoke well of him and watched several episodes of Flying Wild Alaska. Prayers for your family. Mark Rose

As a pilot in Australia, I have followed Jim and his endeavours over the years. I was absolutely in all respects, Gutted when I learnt of his mishap and death. A massive loss to the aviation community.

I was a loyal viewer of Flying Wild Alaska and i"m totally
stunned to learn of Jim Tweto's death. He's the last bush
pilot I ever expected to see die from an apparent CFIT
    accidnent.
My prayers go out to this very close knit family..
This will be very hard for them to recover from..
    RIP Jim Tweto..!!!
