Hello, could you make that the attackers go first and afterwards defenders. It's really hard to capture the points if they are already there. I will quit playing if you don't change this.
It’s really funny watching this five years later and knowing that they just went “well let’s just take the entire game mode out of the game we can’t fix this shit”
In the kill cam for when Ster gets hooked at about 4:45... you can SEE his ice block active for a fraction of a second before he gets hooked out of it.
Okay, but have that cast time be something else that isn't the visual effect you get when you're actually protected Also the ice block was on the enemy screen for 4 frames in the killcam
The way the netcode works in overwatch makes it so that sometimes your actions are overwritten by the server. It might not seem fair, but in reality the other player threw his hook first, you just didn't see it because of latency.
i remember when ow started out as a "devs listen to the community" thing, and they still do, it's just that unfortunately 90% of the community wants skins and emotes and associate with their characters
jUppers because its mostly appeals to more Normie's, it's an fps that's pretty Much cool to anyone, which means people that care less about the actual games content and doesn't really understand, just end up begging for skins and shitty memes, if there was a more niche community to start off with and the majority of the community cared about the competitive aspect then maybe wed be looking at a completely different overwatch
Amorak "Fuck people for not prioritising what I do, FUCKING NORMIES REEEEEEEEEEEEE" Do you realize how stupid you sound? Overwatch is a casual game, with a casual audience. You're really gonna bitch about people who don't play competitive not caring about competitive? It's not a competitive game at its core. Having a competitive mode doesn't change that. But nah, fuck people for not liking what I like, "hurr durr normies."
overwatch is a casual game? idk man, I think we can make it more casual fix the way aiming works (something I've seen complained about forever by cross-fps players) and kill the skill floor lmao
It's supposed to be a fast paced fps that prioritizes character switching and countering other heros. The community right now is making it into something casual, crying for skins and emotes
But it's ironic because you can see he isn't actually having fun. Anything that came remotely close to him seeming like he's having fun was the doomfist video, otherwise it's just game sux, life sux.
if he didnt like tthe game, he would do to it what he did to TF2. Not care. He cares about this game, he is passionate about it. You dont have to love something every second in order to love it truely
For those of you complaining about ster's constant complaining (so have I in the past); Keep in mind that this is a condensed, edited video titled "Desk Smasher". It highlights Ster's more frustrated moments on purpose. I miss the fun ster just as much as any other long time fan, but I choose to believe that he still has those fun moments but us those who do not follow twitch don't get to see it much (feel free to prove me wrong If you happen to follow his streams). Shame really, twitch is really taxing on the internet, forcing most of us to watch it in shit quality, that combined with the differences in time zones make it difficult to follow his livestreams. Hopefully he will upload some well put together and funny videos like he used to do with his Basically series, or at least more laidback/fun ones like DoD or the TF2 live-commentary videos. I guess overwatch doesn't really allow for crazy shit like using only a fish as a weapon and getting away with it, and the messing about with silly stuff in OW niche is covered by Muselk. I feel like Ster could make a nice video out of taking an under-powered or under-used hero and getting very good at him/her, which would speak to his love of both getting good and competitive at the game, as well as his appreciation of using niche characters.
Biggest problem I have with 2 CP is that you can either lose without ever touching the point or win with only having to kill the enemy team once and steamrolling onto second point.
Yo if you read this ster, this is exactly the sort of content that gets me loggin' in to your website. Complaining about meta, about dev choices, about classes, about p much anything except other players. Maybe even other players, depends. Your game crit has always been your strongest suit imo, from the Basically series to just ranting shit like this. I don't play Overwatch or care about it at all, but I enjoy hearing your insights. So, that content, or anything involving your wife really. The 2 things that keep me coming back long after you stopped playing any games I'm familiar with, & I'll keep doing so, so long as you keep criticising everything. PEACE.
The second point seems completely attacker sided, even more so than the first point. Attackers have 4 points of access, instant path from spawn to high ground, a short walk back to the point, no chokepoints, no cover, and only two paths out of enemy spawn to watch, both on ground level.
I often fantasize about traveling back in time, dropping in on a meeting for a video game while wearing a top hat, and when someone asks me who I am and what I'm doing there I explain I'm a time traveler and that I've been sent back in time to fix their game.
As someone who's actually started to not like ster 2's content, I admit without shame that I actually enjoyed this video since Star himself seemed pretty mellow and down-to-earth, with any outbursty moments done just right for comedy's sake.
7:07 now, considering what happened within blizzard and all those kinds of lawsuits that happened. Somehow ster's workplace harassment theory of desk slamming is less bad than what actually happened. GEEZ
hey guys jeff caplin here.we undstand that you hate having to be on the point for 4 minutes to get a first tick, so we made it so that it is only 3 minutes. hope this fix helps make 2cp playable. if it doesnt we will fix it in about 6 months
I think for control points, they should change it so that you need at least 2 people on point to completely halt capping, and having only 1 person on point will just slow the cap progress by half. This would force defenders to at least think about making concentrated pushes to retake the objective, instead of mindlessly throwing themselves at the point just because they're allowed to.
I'm curious, in what way could staggering be fixed by the map creators? I'm not saying it can't, just looking for ideas on how it could, cause I can't see it. It seems to me it's on the players to not stagger.
Just move the point so it's not literally right outside the spawn door. In TF2 some maps do have the last point right outside spawn (the 5cp maps) but the last point takes 3-4 seconds for a single player to cap. What's more, it's way easier to kill the defenders because there's no tanks with second lives stacking shields. Either that or make it way faster to cap.
I still don't see how the spawn location affects staggering in a meaningful way. People run towards the point once they spawn don't they usually? If they wait for teammates usually then I don't see how spawn locations matter much. That is the main thing that affects staggering isn't it? But I do see the point about cap times. I haven't played OW in a while so I wouldn't know, but i'm sure that would affect the things Ster's talking about.
Huh, I just re-watched the vid and realised he was talking about the attacking team. So would the fix be to put the attackers spawn closer? I am purely curious as to what the possible fixes are, not trying to bust some balls.
sters point is the enemies come back faster than they can kill the enemy so the problem is that the attackers spawn are too close to the cap or have low res times
The only problem with desk slammers is, as you said with the Overwatch SubReddit, they can always slam desks over dumb shit like boxes, and never bring up things like Genji Ult being bugged, Reinhardt having almost half his kit be dysfunctional, and an entire game mode that is unfun.
Many people are having a go on Ster because they think it is lazy content, I dissagree. This is much closer to his late night live commentary as it is live commentary. It is true that it isn't as heavely edited as some of his previous vids, but it is edited, so well even that the critics probablly didn't notice how much editing has been done. Furthermore, every single one of his videos has something special, this video is no exeption. I don't say that I enjoy this more than the heavely edited stuff because I think almost nothing can beat the basically series, or the highly edited tf2 vids. But that doesn't mean it is lazy, It's good content, just not what some people are used to.
2cp maps will never work because people will always complain about how close the spawn is to the point or how far away it is. The problem isent necessarily with the devs but the community too, their maps have to work not only for high skill players, but also mid and low skills as well.
The thing about the 2 cp is that if it wasn't defensively favored, then the games would go forever because of all of the side switches. It's just inherently flawed in that sense.
First time playing Horizon Lunar Colony I knew no real change had happened when I respawned 17 miles from the first objective. The one that has basically one route in and a ton of verticality it barely uses.
Does anyone else hate delay compensation ? the hog hooking mei in ice block and when u die behind corners or after u used dash/blink/or w/e cos i dont think there is enough complaints about it for it to get fixed and its soooo annoying....

Hi I work at overwatch and actually in the next update the defenders will spawn inside the control point
Side of Fries what are you talking about that's already in the game its called "2 cp"
Hello, could you make that the attackers go first and afterwards defenders.
It's really hard to capture the points if they are already there.
I will quit playing if you don't change this.
*Community:* "We hate 2CP and we hate how broken dive comp is."
*Blizzard:* "Alright, here's a new 2CP map and a dive hero."
I just wonder if overwatch will someday have a banana land
I would throw up instantly
You know your shit, I like you
I wonder if they'll add an aggressive, "Duck-Style" character into the game
scorpion50781 I wonder if the next hero's ult gets him mad then he says Y'know don't say s-swears
The walls would be spinning with the same banana land texture
It’s really funny watching this five years later and knowing that they just went “well let’s just take the entire game mode out of the game we can’t fix this shit”
Pretty sure all they had to do was make death timers longer for the mode, or at least for the last point
man, this did not age well in light of recent blizzard events
In the kill cam for when Ster gets hooked at about 4:45... you can SEE his ice block active for a fraction of a second before he gets hooked out of it.
Okay, but have that cast time be something else that isn't the visual effect you get when you're actually protected
Also the ice block was on the enemy screen for 4 frames in the killcam
So you're saying it's not a latency issue or anything like that... rather, the game just sux.
it goes on cd
The way the netcode works in overwatch makes it so that sometimes your actions are overwritten by the server. It might not seem fair, but in reality the other player threw his hook first, you just didn't see it because of latency.

Remember when Ster stopped playing TF2 because it made him angry and it wasn't fun anymore?
So, anyone know what game he'll play next?
William Rutherford Paladins? Battleborn?
LOL HAHAHAHAHAHHA GOOD JOKE MAN
Warframe is going open world soon
Nah, because if it wasn't insufferable, how would they get as many real-money sales as they do? :^)
Lawbreakers? Probably lawbreakers.
It really is beyond me why they added another 2cp
They heard that there were secret communities on the internet that were avid fans of CP. The FBI will be confiscating their servers shortly.
ster complains: a biography
man why even bother looking at these comments, i just want ster to have fun doing what he likes cause he's a cool d00d. that's why i support him
But it's ironic because you can see he isn't actually having fun. Anything that came remotely close to him seeming like he's having fun was the doomfist video, otherwise it's just game sux, life sux.
that's why he's the relatable video gamer
if he didnt like tthe game, he would do to it what he did to TF2. Not care. He cares about this game, he is passionate about it. You dont have to love something every second in order to love it truely
Exactly. You usually don't complain about things you don't care about.
If you love him so much you should marry him.
For those of you complaining about ster's constant complaining (so have I in the past); Keep in mind that this is a condensed, edited video titled "Desk Smasher". Ster, you're starting to sound like TF2 you. You make it sound like Overwatch is becoming an excessively large minisentry.
Antique Chair I think he's just an entertainingly -pessimistic- guy
I can't wait till they add bumper cars to it, that would really get me back into playing the game again
Antique Chair cause it is
can't wait for the chesthair hanzo cosmetic for $13
someone say something about virtual hamsters?
At this rate DemoD is going to upload before STAR_
Theo Higgins my two favourite memey review-esque channels, dead and buried. Less we forget.
Holy shit Sydo, you need to stop with these transitions, they are hurting my brain. 7:35
it took me a second to understand what had happenned there. Then i was like "you cheeky fucker" :D
Biggest problem I have with 2 CP is that you can either lose without ever touching the point or win with only having to kill the enemy team once and steamrolling onto second point.
Yea, really does sound like you want to join the mafia.
Put professional virtual desk slammer in your CV and you got the job
Ster, are you having fun?
honestly i would watch ster no matter what he plays his voice is just so dumb calm. i love it
Yo if you read this ster, this is exactly the sort of content that gets me loggin' in to your website. Complaining about meta, about dev choices, about classes, about p much anything except other players. Maybe even other players, depends.

Is it just me or is this map heavily attack sided? Because that's what I've noticed.
Skywirefan on the first point sure but the second is defeader sided
The second point seems completely attacker sided, even more so than the first point. Attackers have 4 points of access, instant path from spawn to high ground, a short walk back to the point, no chokepoints, no cover, and only two paths out of enemy spawn to watch, both on ground level.
Literally anything but Koth is attack-sided other than maybe Eichenwald.
I cant get over these transitions 7:39 blew my brain away
Does anyone else see that ster is slowly descending into madness?
Woah woah woah ster, some of these cuts are smooth enough to debut in a Charmin commercial
I think everyone watching these just misses stars edits but also is forgetting he did live commentary before which was exactly the same.
I often fantasize about traveling back in time, dropping in on a meeting for a video game while wearing a top hat, and when someone asks me who I am and what I'm doing there I explain I'm a time traveler and that I've been sent back in time to fix their game.

I'm very glad I came across this channel. How did I not realize ster was hecka funny
Well, Ster having fun is dead, long live Salty Ster.
Didnt realise star had a second channel, now i got something to bingewatch at 3am
The best unintentional parts of the stream is that laugh track sub at those perfect moments.
that zenn at the end was befuddled by ster's barbaric backlash
lol ROFL at "knock over some bobble heads"
7:07 now, considering what happened within blizzard and all those kinds of lawsuits that happened.
Somehow ster's workplace harassment theory of desk slamming is less bad than what actually happened. GEEZ
I love you, Ster

But seriously what was ster referring to with the "800,000,000 minutes watched on TH-cam" thing? I haven't kept up with the current events.
last time i was this early star_ was still a channel
Pvt.Jackson yoR 😭
nice 2011 mincraft reminder
"And by great again I mean when McCree could one shot tanks" those were actually the fucking days. Launch Overwatch was best Overwatch.
Is anyone who plays this game happy ?
No, they’re just all in denial.
not anymore... sadly...
Follow your desk Smashing dreams Stur

Ster is going legit insane.... I like it.
The fucking transitions ster, what the hell? So smooth!
ster is an angry gamerboy confirmed

The new Pyro update looks cool!

I bet all the blizzard employees have those garbage big head figurines that don't even bobble.
I want somebody on reddit to make a petition to add a bumper car game mode for this game

Really need a desk smasher post at Blizzard it seems.
that broken-ass Mei clip wow roadhog still OP as ever
1un4cy well...no. He's garbage. His hook hit detection is still pretty busted though.
For a video called "Desk Smasher" there is not enough desk smashing. We need the webcam to shake the ground too.

I like the desk idea
Lunar Colony Go-Kart Madness
First time playing Horizon Lunar Colony I knew no real change had happened when I respawned 17 miles from the first objective. The one that has basically one route in and a ton of verticality it barely uses.
Reading these comments makes me realize that star's old fanbase has a lot of dumb people in it.
i love you ster keep doing you

i wanna work at blizzard just so ster can harass me everyday for being a fuck up, truly a dream job™
i feel like i've seen this desk slammer rant before, and im not talking seeing it on stream

Ster maybe you should take a break from overwatch then come back after a while. You definitely don't seem to be having fun
Wait, is there a way to find out how many minutes we've watched on TH-cam?
Ster, what is your favorite color?
What if someone made pl_upward into an overwatch map?
Brendan Geormer no

Assault maps are definitely my least favorite type of map(Temple of Anubis most of all). I have really no issue with other modes, but assault maps are the ones that are most likely to frustrate me.
Genji's dragonblade is the most broken ult in the game..
I have fun on horizon lunar colony tbh; usually when I lose on it its due to over extending team mates and staggering which should result in our loss anyway
When people tell me Blizzard is a good game company, i point at the balancing of OW and Hearthstone.
Well, here is some good news Ster; in the PTR they are making it so Mercy can't rez from spawn anymore.
Yeah, that's why he mentioned it. Because it's been that way for a year and only _now_ have they done something to fix it.
Only Overwatch can have a buff for a character, but somehow make it a nerf. (Reapers new passive)
Remy reaper is viable now. He wasn't before. Therefore, buff successful
Do tell me how that's a "nerf"
On a different note, was that Direwolf20 playing with ster?
Now that the fan base has caught up to this channel, I recommend switching to Ster 3
Ster uploading more is amazing
