You're right Gadgetdad. I've been thinking about getting one, especially since I wear prescription glasses. That would be handy. Thanks for watching and commenting. ATB, Tony
you understand how it is to have a Swiss my friend can't tell you how many times it helped me out,its so familiar that i have it on me as second nature 👍
Thank you Steve. Yes I do understand. I always feel naked on the rare times I've been without it. I feel comforted having it with me even if I'm not using it. I have a few but this is my favorite.
Thank you Steve. I really use the crap out of this knife and although it's not the lightest or most compact, I've carried it so long I never notice it unless it's not there. I even use the pen. 😆
You sneaked one by me a few months ago. I am not sure how I missed this one but I did. Man you just can't beat a SAK. They are the original multitool. Great upgrade. The green really looks good.
I love my SAK. On the very rare times I leave home without it i feel naked. Haha it goes with me everywhere. I really like the green too, I just hope I don't drop it in the woods. Thanks Chris.
I had no idea replacement scales are available! I've super-glued them back on in the past. Just ordered some for my 84mm after watching your video last night. Thanks for all the great info!
Nice green scales Tony! Can't wait to get home now and check out that needle option on mine as I've never noticed it before. I've carried a small Classic SD in my left pocket for over 30 years. Now I own several in different colors and scale designs. A man can't have too many knives :)
I think all of the 91mm scales with the corkscrew cutout have the hole for the straight pin or needle. Most people never noticed it. I like the green color. I just hope I don't drop it in the woods. Lol
Great video , I never even thought about upgrading my Swiss Army knife . Like the green . I’ve got a really old Swiss that I’ve carried, left in the tackle box . Carried it the door of my truck even lost it once for about 6 months. Thanks for the video.
I Know.........they just last forever 😆 I have a couple more that are about 30 yrs old and you would never know it to look at them. It's nice to have something that reliable.
Yeah, I have know idea how many I've taken out with this knife. My tweezers were still in pretty good shape but I went ahead and replaced them since it came with the new scales.
Thank you Lee. I love my SAK. Most all the full size (91mm) with the corkscrew have the hole in the scale for a straight pin or needle. A lot of folks just never realized the hole is there.
Great vid! Have carried a Swiss Army knife forever and can’t imagine living a day without it. If I ever see you and you don’t have one yet I’ll give you an eyeglass screwdriver for the corkscrew. Works great as I always have the screws coming loose on my glasses. Keep up the great vids.
Hi Gary. That's the first thing to go in my pocket when I leave the house. I've carried a SAK for so long it's automatic. I don't know why I've dragged my feet about getting the eyeglasse screwdriver, especially since I've worn glasses since I was a kid. One day Lol Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment. Atb , Tony
I enjoyed this, thanks! Don’t forget you can get the screwdriver mini sets for your corkscrew now. Another handy little mod! Also, don’t pop your blisters. The skin will protect you from infection.
Upgrades I had no idea about. I have one with a Phillips screwdriver and pliars that goes to work with me every day, but the tweezers and toothpick got lost. Guess I need to get the accessories kit.
Ebay is full of sites offering upgrade and replacement parts for SAK. Replacement tweezers and toothpick is a common one and fairly inexpensive. Thanks Steve
I love the green! I have never owned a Swiss Army Knife. Been thinking about getting one. Now I know what color I want! lol. And the needle option is very cool!
Christmas is about 12 weeks away Mike. Nows the time to start dropping hints to mama. 😆 Having my SAK right there with me is like grabbing my glasses first thing every morning. 😎
I would love to carry a swiss. But I cant live without the pliers on my leatherman charge. I literally use every tool almost every day. I completely understand the feeling of forgetting it haha. Great video tony.
Thanks Jonathan. I have a Gerber Dime I carried for a while because of the pliers but In my case I didn't use them much. Anyway it's easy to get used to relying on your favorite tool huh ? 😆
Wow! Looks like brand new 😍 I love Swiss Army knives. I carry an executive and been looking at changing the scales out on it. Thanks for for showing the clamp trick to get them seated. That ink pen is pretty neat addition for sure. A couple weeks back Mad Dog Survival showed where he ground a tiny ferro Rod down like a tooth pick to put in his. Great video Tony
Thanks Donna. There is also a company called Firefly that offers a ferro rod that fits the toothpick slot. I'd love to have one but I just can't give up the toothpick. Lol I'll check out Madison Dog Survival's video.
Man those Jarritos are awesome! Especially that Mandarin flavor. I have had several swiss army knives throughout the years. I don't know where they are now lol. I got many knives from my childhood but don't remember what happened to them. I hope that wasn't Michell's toothbrush, she will kill ya haha. Love it Tony. Turned out nice and now you got you a pen that you didn't have before.
Wow! I had no idea that you could do those on yourself. I have one that I left too close to the fire and the handles are a bit warped. I am planing on sending it in along with another with a bad blade. Thanks for the info?
The great thing about doing it yourself is the shipping cost to send your knives back to Victorinox and also the return shipping you pay up front. I could see sending it back for the blade to be repaired though. If you look on Ebay or Amazon you can find many colors and options for most models. Thank you for watching and commenting.
The Victorinox Huntsman is the undisputed King of the 91mm SAK's, I own 5 - one of which is collectable , one is unused in reserve & 3 are in my daily rotation as PTK's ( Pocket Tool Kits ) . All 3 have been upgraded by me with new Plus scales ( Black, Sapphire Blue & Rubi Red ) and I have replaced the toothpick with a Firefly ferro rod, on the corkscrew I have placed a tinder spiral held in place by a mini-screwdriver and fitted each knife with a SwissQlip for convenient carry.
I'm SAK ALL DAY! I believe the Huntsman is the best SAK. It more or less saved my life. But that is a story for another time. I carry the Vic Outrider SAK. Pretty much the the Huntsman but with a locking blade and no small blade. I luv all the tools on knive. I think I use the can opener the most. Do you know that there is a company that makes a Farro rod that fits in the tooth pick or tweezer slots? Made by Fire Fly. I wouldn't want it as my main fire starter, but they work great when used correctly. You have to use it a tad different than you would a regular Farro rod. And they are not that expensive. Now I know what your going to say. I don't want to lose my tooth pick or tweezers. So you buy the Classic and attach it to your Woodsman. Also, a sewing needle also fits in the stick pin hole and the corkscrew will keep it in place. If it ever stop raining up up, I do a video on what I am talking about. Luv the green scales too. Veggie oil is a good idea. Never thought of that.
That would make an interesting video about how it saved your life Chris. I've seen the Fire Fly ferro rod and I'd love to add that to my SAK. Like you already mentioned........ just not at the expense of my toothpick or tweezers. I would give up the ball point pen for it, if it would fit that slot. I may need to invent something on the tweezer side. Yeah I love my SAK too. Thanks 😆
Believe it or not, I keep a small and medium needle in my wallet along with some band aids and fingernail file. Don't even know they're there. Went to courthouse and they ran wallet thru detector twice and asked what was in my wallet, I showed them and they just said "OK", you may go on. I had one of those but gave it to my son. I didn't know you could new scales for those.
Oh wow ! It's a good thing they didn't give you a hard time about why those needles were in there, There is quite a few options on colors too. I feel naked on the rare occasion I forget it when I leave the house.
I've been through TSA at the airports and they don't catch the needles, I guess too small for detectors to detect. I just watched a video and the guy slid the pen in the slot where the hook is and eased it down to hold pen to give a better grip on it, I would worry about it bending the pen, though. Here's link th-cam.com/video/XRfMwnInNCQ/w-d-xo.html We'll save the part for Michelle, OK?
Haha it will make you feel like MacGyver. I really do use the crap out of this one. I told Mike from Under The Carolina Sky that Christmas was 12 weeks away. Time to start dropping hints to mama. 😆
All you need now is the little screwdriver that is stored within the corkscrew. 👍
You're right Gadgetdad. I've been thinking about getting one, especially since I wear prescription glasses. That would be handy. Thanks for watching and commenting. ATB, Tony

I was going through my box of pocket knives this weekend and thought of this video. Had to watch again. Such a smart upgrade.
Thank you Steve. I really use the crap out of this knife and although it's not the lightest or most compact, I've carried it so long I never notice it unless it's not there. I even use the pen. 😆

Swiss makes some very nice knives for sure. Those were some good upgrades as well.😎
I might even let you use it if we get to hike the North Sylamore Creek Trail. Hahaha

digging out splinters...always doing that
Yeah, I have know idea how many I've taken out with this knife. My tweezers were still in pretty good shape but I went ahead and replaced them since it came with the new scales.
This is one of the best videos I have seen in a while. Great job. I learnt somethings which at my age is saying something. Well done 👍👍
Thanks George. I'm 62 and hope I keep learning. Have a great day 👍
Great knives! Nice upgrade. I like the needle..so many uses!
Thank you Lee. I love my SAK. Most all the full size (91mm) with the corkscrew have the hole in the scale for a straight pin or needle. A lot of folks just never realized the hole is there.

Sweet knife! They really do come in handy! Thanks Bluecollar
The rare times I do leave the house without it, I almost feel naked. Lol Thanks for watching 😆

@@BluecollarBackcountry Good idea lol!

i carry the Swiss rucksack
@@sosteve9113 the Rucksack is a very nice looking knife. 😆
Love it. Never knew you could get parts to restore the knife.
Yeah, they make the scales in lots of different colors, and replacement tweezers, toothpicks, eyeglass screwdrivers. It gets crazy. Thanks Gaylin.

Yeah kick ass video!! Love it!! Most people would buy a new knife.... but not the old timers hahaha
Different values I guess huh ? Probably the old maintenance man in me too Hahaha Thanks Darrell.

Be careful John. She may be using yours to clean the toilet. Bahahaha

@@BluecollarBackcountry Yes, I love them too. Only tried them last year for the first time.
