I cannot tell you how many time I found my knife in the recliner. Not so much with the lanyard! Thanks for watching and commenting, blessings the ocd Hunter
I bought the large Fire Fly ferro rod and had to cut it off about 1/4" to get it to fit inside my model 78 Rangergrip handle. The first time I used the FF to start my fire it only took one strike to get the tinder lit. Great little fire starter.
Maybe you'd be interested in checking out the FireAnt tinder from Tortoise Gear that fits in your corkscrew. It's really a genius use of space. Just that me personally couldn't handle having that piece of fatwood in the pocket taking up space and I would have to remove it every time I used the knife. Guess that's my kind of OCD.. THANKS for actually taking apart your paracord-lanyard showing how simple it was!
I will definitely check that out. Thanks. The lanyard setup has been a life savor for me. The knife is so slick I’ve lost it out of my pocket in places like movie theaters where the seat reclines. The lanyard and wood keeps it safe in my pocket. I’ve had it on their so long that it doesn’t get in my way to use my knife. But definitely each to his own. I appreciate your feedback. I’m sorry for the slow reply, I had to take a break from TH-cam for a while and things like returning comment suffered! Thanks for watching and commenting, blessings, the ocd Hunter.
@@TheOCDHunter They definitively come sliding out unless prevented. I use a KeySmart Nano Clip pocket clip that attaches to the keyring. It lets the knife hang in my pocket and it stays nicelyv in place even though it's not a traditional pocket clip. Blessings to you too!
Thanks for your comment! I appreciate it. I was hoping that by placing a different verse in each video might make an impact! Thanks for noticing and thanks for watching and the compliment. Believe me, sometime I can be hard to like. Lol. Blessings The ocd Hunter.
Get a tiny carabiner and attach it to fishing line, then attach that line to the SAK keyring. Put the caribiner on one of your belt loops. If your SAK slips out, it's still attached to your pants, no problem. Easy way to never lose your SAK. :)
A few thoughts: there are ways of braiding the paracord which makes it “quick deploy” for emergency use as a turnequet. If the knife has a parcel hook, use it as an imorovised pocket clip (put the hook on outside of pocket, pointing down. Close hook. Twist and put knife in pocket). Then it won’t slip out and is out of the way of other stuff in the pocket. Nice video -I liked it a lot :-)
I agree. However I’ve had some recent issues with my firefly ferro rod. The heads keep braking off. Good concept, but I’m probably have to do an update video on this disappointing fact. Blessings the ocd Hunter.
The Victorinox Huntsman can be bought with dull matt non slip red scales instead of the shiny, smooth Celidor scales. I have two Victorinox Huntsman with these non slip scales, one in my camp cook kit and one in my FAK. These grips are a huge improvement and they should be able to be bought online as a replacement set. Carrying a pin in the dedicated space for it is a useful addition, as is a small magnet that fits in the hook of the hook tool, both were inexpensive. If you use footwear that secures with shoelaces, perhaps consider replacing them with lengths of either, Lawson Equipment Iron Wire Paracord, Atwood ARM Battlecord Paracord or Atwood Parapocalypse Paracord, as these have one or two strands of jute tinder, in addition to some technical cordage, one of which can be used to hold raw food over an open fire to cook as the cordage is rated higher than the temperature of flames! Your quick deploy paracord was particularly neat, as was using a sewing needle in place of a pin. The toothpick replacement ferro rod will last longer (not break) if you support the full length with a finger as you're striking it. Unsupported, they are known to break.
If you open the corkscrew look and you will see a small hole designed for a pin. That is where I put it in. Make sure you find a needle to fit the hole. Thanks for watching and commenting! Blessings the ocd Hunter.
I took the guts out of 3ft of Paracord.... Inserted jute twine that I coated with beeswax. I then tied the Paracord in a series of snake knots. I inserted a small ferro rod in one end of the Paracord, then sealed the ends.... I attached it to my huntsman....... Just another idea...
That is a great idea. I’m not real happy with the fireflies! Great idea, but poorly executed with in 1 week of each other both my SAK firefly heads broke off. I need to do a follow up to warn people. If i do, I’ll mention your idea as an alternative. Thanks for watching and commenting. Blessings the ocd Hunter

Awesome! Greetings from a Native American/Norse guy living in Japan! :)
Only guy whose ever mentioned the lanyard for extra friction to stop the knife from falling out your pocket, exact same reason I put on one!

Have you guys thought about stippling the scales? Just a thought.

Very cleaver idea!
The Tortoise Gear Fire Fly Kindling is a nice add, too. It stores in the corkscrew.
and the lanyard can be used for hanging stuff in the bush. They are really handy
Always good idea to have cordage. Thanks for watching my vids. And taking the time to comment on several of them. Blessings the ocd Hunter.
Always a great 👍 knife 🔪 thanks

Would tyred bankline make a good wrap for the fatwood?

Just at the base of the corkscrew is enough space to stick a mini magnet (if needed!)🤭
How do you get the needle in there?
