To be fair to the Vikki&Vance owners, you DID find some pretty terrible things in the Bison Steve. Kidnapping, murder, drug abuse, etc. and all before the apocalypse. Honestly, I think the only point they exaggerated was the roller coaster's lifespan. It outlasted both casinos.
If Meyers becomes sheriff and keeps law, and Vicki and Vance get the casino cleaned up and sell radscorpion pie as a delicacy and get the bison Steve motel running again and fix the rollercoaster , primm would be doing good for themselves and if they sell me that Ford 2 door coupe car in casino for 10,000 caps they could use the money to help them out and I'll fix up the car and paint it red and drive around the Mojave desert in style lol 😎🏎️
This is how I rationalize The choices for Primm, choose as you will. So someone comes out of a house in town, running, followed quickly by another person yelling “stop thief!” Meyers : shoots the running person (suspected thief) dead no questions asked and moves on with his day Slim : Thief runs away with their prize but with laser burn on the bum never to return as Slim was to slow to catch him fully NCR : Thief captured and sent through the often slow and lengthy court system (paid for by the citizens of the Primm) ultimately has their day in court ect. Only one example but I think helps explain the three options you have.
I'm playing on hardcore, and Ruby's casserole is a godsend. I still visit Primm every few days to get more. I got my survival up to 100 as quickly as possible, and it's amazing.
If you're playing on Hardcore I would recommend saving the radscorpion glands for Hydra to heal limbs, but you're right, her casserole does heal a ton.
Eyup. Frontier justice. Where people get lynched on the mere suspicion that they might cause trouble for your town. Or a robot, who's not going to cut anyone slack for their unique circumstances, but also isn't going to kill you without evidence that you've done something terrible.
I'm not sure if it's been mentioned but the old Sheriff's Office has a notable piece of loot. Remember Sheriff Lucas Simms of Megaton in Fallout 3? You can find his duster and hat on the floor of the Sheriff's office in Primm. The badge still says Megaton. on it.
HOLY SHIT YOU CAN ACTUALLY FIND THE GUN!? I thought the fact that it was stolen was just a lil joke. Gaddamn this game continues to impress years later. Played it to death and I'm still discovering things I've missed.
I personally prefer Prim Slim as the the sheriff, no easy chance for the NCR to take advantage of the bot, and though his law is pure logic, his law is fair. Something tells me mayers wouldn't be as fair.
"Experts speculate that Vance might have killed as many as fifty people had he ever fired the gun - so long as his aim as exact as he was starting off with a full clip - or even more if he had additional ammo clips and remembered to reload!" Well well, speak of the devil. And in _New Vegas_ as well.
@AlphaChocolateTruffle You have to kill the convicts outside on the roller coaster because after prims slim becomes sheriffs he will start paroling the area near the roller coaster and will be killed by the convicts there if you haven't killed them already. Since Primm slim doesn't have ammunition to defend himself, he becomes an easy target so making him a sheriff is not wise.
In my game I didn't re-visit Primm until after I had done a whole lot including being thrown out of all the Strip casinos, then realized that this placed turned back into a casino.
I think I usually went with Slim, my reasoning at the time was that he'd be impartial and could always be programmed to the town's needs. Though I admit maybe that last bit can also backfire.
I swear Oxhorn gets all funny wtf moments, Giggly ghost person in dead money, Joshua Graham on fire in Honest Hearts, Raul in a barrel, the jumping skeleton in the bathtub from the Bison Steve Hotel and others I can't remember the episodes they come from.
There is a ending slide in fallout new Vegas about primm, and if you get Meyers as sherrif, it is stated that sometimes people just appeared dead in the town with no actual evidence of what the hell just happened. That has set me off of using Meyers as a sheriff, i went with the ncr instead. Sure they tax high, the primm enjoys the increase in traffic under their rule, should you pick the ncr ending.
I really love the casino in Primm, and never fail to make sure I visit the place in my New Vegas playthroughs. It always brings me such comfort and warmth to hang out in; there is just something about the quietness and faint classic jazz music in the background of place I can't quite explain.
It always blows me away when I see something I never experienced in New Vegas. I always end up in Primm at a low level, so I never even knew about the Primm Slim Corrupted Memory holotape. What a fantastic game. The only thing I want is for Obsidian to make a new Fallout. That would be a dream come true to me, and many others.
I always choose primm slim to be sheriff. Meyers is to hard of a man for me. If you save beagle but leave the escaped convicts alive and make Meyers the sheriff then the next time you enter the second floor of the bison Steve all the convicts will be dead. A very bloody death. So yeah.... I rather have the slower and friendlier primm slim as sheriff than Meyers. But that is just my opinion.
In the different endings I think Primm Slim proves to be the best choice. Meyers' ending for Primm says people occasionally die without evidence against them, whereas Slim's ending says crooks occasionally get away because he's a Protectron, but the town prospers.
this was always surreal for me. my family is from Dallas like Bonnie and lyde, im real big into 30's depression era gangster history, and my sister and I's middle names are Pauline and Sam
I don't think the NCR sergeant was acting superior, I just think he understands exactly what's going to happen before too long. They sweep in and protect the area, install NCR authority, and then everyone gets that "new guy, same as the old guy" mindset and starts treating them like a military occupation.
Obvious basis on real life motorized bandit couple Bonnie Parker and Clyde Barrow. Legendary criminals of the 20th century. A 9 millimeter submachine gun was not their choice of guns. It was their custom “whippet” guns of pump action and auto 5 shotguns with the barrel and stock sawn off. And infamously John Moses Browning’s Browning Automatic Rifle and its similar variant the Colt moniter. Barrel and stock sawn off too. Used by both Bonnie and Clyde to deadly effect. Meeting their violent demise in Louisiana by a posse of lawmen, both their car and bodies riddled with bullets on May 23th 1934. Bonnie was barely alive when her car door was opened and she breathed her last breath as she was set back up against her seat. And the ambush without any chance to reach for their guns was necessary. As some historians recounted, it had to end how it did as Bonnie and Clyde were that good with their guns. If they gave them a chance to fire back, one of those lawmen would not be returning home to their families alive. And in Louisiana, there is a museum dedicated to the ambush including the very car riddled and driven by Bonnie and Clyde that day
maybe i missed it, but you can get the laser rcw from a weapons locker in the bison hotel. it is in poor condition though, and you will have a hard time around these parts finding E charge packs....never the less, the best energy weapon pickup in the early game.
I'm surprised that none of these videos have mentioned the ending slides for the towns. Any major quests or locales with their own reputation meter have different slides that wrap up their narrative. Maybe Ox didn't actually beat his campaign at this point?
I personally think the NCR is the better choice, there laws are a greater good, let’s be real even if Meyers or Slim becomes sheriff the NCR will annex them in the future, it’s better they get a head start with the NCR
Finding this channel and these nostalgia trips really seems to highlight what I felt Fallout 4 was missing. It is the lack of ways to approach the achieving of a goal. For getting the gun, you could shoot, speech or sneak-steal it. For the NCR deserters, you could pay up, barter for paying less, kill them or speech check. In FO4, it seems much more "go kill this, go kill that" with none of this nuance that allows you to actually roleplay, not just choose your approach to combat
[The Wonderful Adventures of Preston Garvey] Quick Recap: The Legion, lead by, Charles and Praedo, attacked Diamond City. The Minutemen failed to protect the entrance, and now the Legion is going to flood throughout the city. Episode Twenty-Seven: [Diamond City] [2:07 PM] Praedo: Now we trample the city! Forward! Charles Gannon: (Stops Praedo) Not yet. Take the women as slaves. The Old are going to die soon anyway, and keep the children alive. We don't want innocents to die here. Praedo: Has Charles gone soft? Charles: No. They are simply orders. Are they clear? Praedo: Yes. Let's finish this. Charles: Forward! (The Legion fleet floods into Diamond City, running over Minutemen and citizens) (Minutemen Admiral Drew is organizing the Minutemen Rangers) Admiral Drew: Fight to your death. It doesn't matter. Just do it. Many innocent people will die to them. We must be there to stop them. MM Sentinel: This is it. THIS is the end. Should've known. Minuteman: I sent a message to Captain Darren Miles. MM Sentinel: He said? Minuteman: He said we fight to the end, Diamond City might not be lost. MM Sentinel: What does that mean?! Of course Diamond City is lost! Minuteman: I don't know sir, all I know is that- (a throwing spear has pierced him in the back, going all the way until it reaches his heart) I...(blood spills from his mouth) MM Sentinel: That's it! Give them he- Praedo: (Slits his throat) Too late. Degenerate. (After hours of heavy fighting, the Legion overpowers the Minutemen and takes the remaining ones in the middle of the market) Admiral Drew: (Sits on his knees) You'll never have the Commonwealth. I...I...know that for a fact. A fact! You hear me?! Charles: (Slaps him) Do not talk to me that way, profligate. Admiral Drew: I'll speak however I want! I don't take orders from a bunch of COSPLAYERS! Charles: (Stares him dead in the eye) What the heck is a cosplayer? Admiral Drew: (Smiles a bit) A pre-war thing. People who dressed up, _pretending_ they were other people. Like that one faze the General had when he was dressing up as the "Silver Shroud" and terrorizing "villains". Charles: This "cosplayer" you speak of...he... Admiral Drew: Yeah, he's the General. Charles: Then that sounds sexy. Admiral Drew: You bet my life it was (spits on Charles' foot) Charles: (Looks at his foot) Well... (laughs hysterically) Admiral Drew: (Starts laughing as well) Charles: (Stops laughing) Crucify him. Legionary: Yes. Admiral Drew: You filth! They're coming for you! Charles: Hmph. Report back to the Legate. Tell him that the Great Green Jewel is secured. Legionary: Yes. Ave, true to Caesar. Charles: Ave. Praedo: My fleet and I will hear back to the Old North Church. Just make sure you've scavenged everything here. Charles: We aren't low-life scavengers. Are you joking? Praedo: I swear, when the Legate finally realizes who you really are, he'll have me kill you! Charles: I'd like to see that happen. Veteran Legionary: So the Jewel is ours. What now? Charles: Now we're going to the Castle. Messenger: Sir! Charles: Stop there, profligate. What do you want? Messenger: The NCR is here. They've arrived from the south. Some of your spies have spotted them camping in a swamp. Charles: I knew it. I tried telling the Legate this would happen. Veteran Legionary: Don't blame it on Lanius. Charles: Did I say I was blaming it on him? We've lost Dr. John Dee and our only hope of using power armor. Now we have the NCR riding right behind us. Veteran Legionary: Maybe we could infiltrate the Castle and see if we can get the Allies to think the NCR is their enemy. Charles: That would never work. The Castle is too heavily fortified. We were lucky enough to have even grabbed John. Wait. Ricky. Veteran Legionary: What about Ricky? Charles: Suicide synths. Get a raiding party to collect any synths that have either died, or need to be killed. If we send them to the NCR camp, we can get rid of them. Veteran Legionary: Well, it's not a terrible idea. Charles: Yes, it's just that, I am a genius. (Laughs) That's the end of this episode. Mind you, we only have a few more episodes to go. I do need this question answered: Should the NCR die out in the Commonwealth? Or should they be able to survive for the Battle for the Commonwealth?
I think you should. I've had an idea of a faction that should've been put in a Fallout game for a while. A viking faction. Not saying you should use it, just spreading my idea. Like the leader is Zeus. Sounds a lot like Caesar's Legion, but I don't know. Go ahead and make another faction though. Would be great.
I LOVE to watch these videos. Any chance you can do a video that covers crafting ammo and consumables throughout the mohave? This is my all time fav. game, yours vids are so nicely composed, its like watching a documentary :)
I bought this game for XBox back when it was pretty new. Sherrif Meyers was an older gentleman. FO4 had similar discrepancies. The fun radio dialogue of Travis doesn't exist at all like that in my game.
Yeah, that was my issue with his logic. Sure, law isn't everywhere yet, and Nevada is disputed and fought over, but it's better in the long term to start things going and making that change rather than going frontier justice style
I like how Lieutenant Hays, Colonel (I'm not certain that's his title) Hsu, and Doctor Whitley from Chicago (mentioned in the Lonesome Road DLC as ED-E's creator) all have tge same voice. I think it's just the sound quality, but Lieutenant Hays's voice does sound just a little different, however.
I was already vilified by the Powder Gangers, so I was not getting anywhere near their compound without getting shot. Which sucked, because I wanted a local sherif, too.
There's a glitch in the base game (no dlcs) where you can go to the Vicki and Vance casino and buy poker chips and when you go to exchange them back to money they don't disappear from your inventory so you can very early get a lot of caps and not need any for the rest of the game if you do it enough but the best way to do it is to get to Primm and do the quests asap get the caps then install the dlc and save the stupid amount of chips you've purchased incase you really need caps after the caps you glitched on you
I've seen a couple comments about people who prefer Primm Slim, and others who agree Meyers is the best choice. In the ending slides, it reveals that under Meyers, people sometimes get gunned down with little to no evidence, but Meyers also does a _much_ better job at hunting down criminals who're indeed guilty; that sort of zero-tolerance policy is useful in a post-apocalyptic world. Whereas Primm Slim insists on doing _everything_ by the book (thanks to his programming as a Protectron); this means that crooks sometimes get away before Primm Slim can react, but it _also_ means that people are given the proper due process before anything drastic happens. The arguments for Meyers and/or Primm Slim remind me of a question I once heard; it's similar to the classic "trolley problem", and it goes something like this: "There are two people; one of them is completely innocent, and one is as guilty as can be. If you were forced to imprison both of them for life, or let them both walk away scot-free, what would you do?" To me, Meyers embodies the first answer: Imprison them both (or on this case, _execute_ them both). Whereas Primm Slim embodies the second answer of setting them both free (albeit unintentionally). Personally, I'd rather go with Primm Slim. Sure, his rigid programming can make him incompetent at times, but if it means giving people their fair shot, I think it's worth it. Besides, when you first find Meyers, he is _incarcerated,_ after all. And by his own admission, he's been known to jump the gun at times, and shoot suspects dead without doing the proper investigation beforehand. Yeah, due process can take a long time, but it exists for a _very good reason._
I'm surprised you didn't make note of the ending slides for Prim. The slides do include spoiler info of four endings but make note of your chose of law for Prim. My favorite being Slims.
The best ending is either Meyers if you side with Independent or Mr House, and the NCR if you side with NCR. Ironically, if the Legion wins, Primm fairs the "best" (as in, everyone isn't killed) if you convince the NCR to protect Primm, as Meyers or Slim will get everyone killed by trying to fight a losing battle, while the now unprotected Primm simply surrenders and has to pay tributes to the Legion.
In my playthrough when I go in to gamble at the Vicki and Vance casino it’s full of gamblers. Seeing it empty other than yourself while the people wait behind their tables is kinda creepy
Fun Fact: Primm Slim doesn't just wear a fancy hat. It also wears fancy boots.

If Meyers becomes sheriff and keeps law, and Vicki and Vance get the casino cleaned up and sell radscorpion pie as a delicacy and get the bison Steve motel running again and fix the rollercoaster , primm would be doing good for themselves and if they sell me that Ford 2 door coupe car in casino for 10,000 caps they could use the money to help them out and I'll fix up the car and paint it red and drive around the Mojave desert in style lol 😎🏎️
that rollercoaster didn't outlive either casino, the shits decrepit and missing chunks
This is how I rationalize The choices for Primm, choose as you will.
So someone comes out of a house in town, running, followed quickly by another person yelling “stop thief!”
Meyers : shoots the running person (suspected thief) dead no questions asked and moves on with his day
Slim : Thief runs away with their prize but with laser burn on the bum never to return as Slim was to slow to catch him fully
NCR : Thief captured and sent through the often slow and lengthy court system (paid for by the citizens of the Primm) ultimately has their day in court ect.

(The Legion fleet floods into Diamond City, running over Minutemen and citizens)
(Minutemen Admiral Drew is organizing the Minutemen Rangers)
Admiral Drew: Fight to your death.
Minuteman: I don't know sir, all I know is that- (a throwing spear has pierced him in the back, going all the way until it reaches his heart) I...(blood spills from his mouth)
MM Sentinel: That's it! Give them he-
Praedo: (Slits his throat) Too late. Degenerate.
(After hours of heavy fighting, the Legion overpowers the Minutemen and takes the remaining ones in the middle of the market)
Admiral Drew: (Sits on his knees) You'll never have the Commonwealth.
Admiral Drew: You bet my life it was (spits on Charles' foot)
Charles: (Looks at his foot) Well... (laughs hysterically)
Admiral Drew: (Starts laughing as well)
Charles: (Stops laughing) Crucify him.
(Laughs)
That's the end of this episode. Mind you, we only have a few more episodes to go. I do need this question answered: Should the NCR die out in the Commonwealth? Or should they be able to survive for the Battle for the Commonwealth?
well hello there but can we stop the cliff hanger about what going on in the castle
What do you mean?
Amazing..this into a video..it be viral!
Alrighty.
I LOVE to watch these videos. Any chance you can do a video that covers crafting ammo and consumables throughout the mohave? This is my all time fav. game, yours vids are so nicely composed, its like watching a documentary :)
It was funny seeing Raul squatting the back
You really need a Vickie and Vance t-shirt. I'd totally buy anything New Vegas related
I bought this game for XBox back when it was pretty new. Sherrif Meyers was an older gentleman. FO4 had similar discrepancies. The fun radio dialogue of Travis doesn't exist at all like that in my game.
22:05 Except for the one that the NCR is trying to (re-)create, you mean?
Yeah, that was my issue with his logic. Sure, law isn't everywhere yet, and Nevada is disputed and fought over, but it's better in the long term to start things going and making that change rather than going frontier justice style
Lmfao. “YeAeAH... byyYE”
27:30 What is he T-bagging?
It's always been weird how Primm is a town and, still, the Casino is basically the only thing in that town.
Born, raised and currently sitting 5 miles from where Bonnie & Clyde were killed. It's just a lonesome old road.
I was already vilified by the Powder Gangers, so I was not getting anywhere near their compound without getting shot. Which sucked, because I wanted a local sherif, too.
Powder ganger clothes can get you inside the ncrcf
There's a glitch in the base game (no dlcs) where you can go to the Vicki and Vance casino and buy poker chips and when you go to exchange them back to money they don't disappear from your inventory so you can very early get a lot of caps and not need any for the rest of the game if you do it enough but the best way to do it is to get to Primm and do the quests asap get the caps then install the dlc and save the stupid amount of chips you've purchased incase you really need caps after the caps you glitched on you
Since when does a protectron have such a personal nice voice
24:19 This dude has a big ass hand
Go Go Powder Gangers!
I live in Las Vegas - I saw the Bonnie & Clyde Car. So wish they'd have a M1918 BAR as part of that (that was Clyde's main weapon).
The arguments for Meyers and/or Primm Slim remind me of a question I once heard; it's similar to the classic "trolley problem", and it goes something like this:
"There are two people; one of them is completely innocent, and one is as guilty as can be. If you were forced to imprison both of them for life, or let them both walk away scot-free, what would you do?"
To me, Meyers embodies the first answer: Imprison them both (or on this case, _execute_ them both).
23:35 *I'm Hit!*
*literally dies*
27:31 Raul is tea bagging
Vance' s machine wipes the floor with some versions of deathclaws and cazudors. Just very limited on ammo in the start of the game
I don't agree with due process not being done.
I like the sly nod to Bonnie and Clyde with Vikki and Vance....
Love ur vids. I miss your war craft ones been watching u since U did the war craft stuff. Keep doing what ya doing
In the ending slides you learn that if you make Myers sheriff, he kills people and gets away with it
No, his ending slide says that he "sometimes takes justice into his own hands". Which we heard him say he would do before we recruited him.
