The light taps of the pole was enough to send a heavy elevator box down, so imagine one tiny tip toe like looney tunes sneaky stuff and you’re going down. *ok regardless jumping on it hard would send it down* But still if the pole was enough, a tippy toe is enough to send it

It's really hard for an elevator to freefall. It has triple ropes holding it incase one of them breaks. And the wheel that hold the ropes locks and stops if it feels that the elevator is going down to fast.
Not smart what so ever. If you noticed those elevator rails attached to the side of the building that allow the extremely heavy elevator to travel up and down. Next time spend two minutes attaching a safety roap around that and then around a safety belt. More than likely they just want to scrap the metal for the elevator parts. The most expensive stuff would be the copper windings in the machine room of the elevator, but in abandoned building that goes quick.

To se asi nestane. Tady nejdřív musel zcela odstranit pravou samosvornou brzdu a levou oslabit. Tyčí pak vytlouká zbylej klín, co tu kabinu drží na vodítku. Takže jsem se sám přesvědčil, že jak se ta kabina kousne na samosvorný brzdy, jen tak se nehne.
This is terrible! was in the press as "Urban explorer has lucky lift escape in abandoned building" The guy is an idiot, you can see theres no cable on the lift car and he forces the emergency brake off (clearly the lift car dropped previously and this came on. What did he expect to happen?
this is stupid dangerous i think there is a better way like breaking the rails from up top or removing the stopper thing at the bottom and then hold the old elevator cabin in position while yo knock out the balance weight and let it fall. then you can let the cabin fall it would fall fast and it would crumple when it hits the ground then cut it up with torches and save pieces like that bright yellow wheel for parts for any other elevator like that or just to collect old parts... like me :3
still plenty of things can still go wrong im just thinking if the bolts would shear causing the rails to go off center derailing it and BAM it will move slower down and when it hits the ground it shall crumple

What happens was that was a abandoned building and they wanted to remove the elevator.
They cut the cables and released the emergency brakes
This is a long gone lift so the saftey stuff could have been removed
