If I may suggest a tip I got from another Site, Use a bit of string to use to measure the dimensions, then use the string to gauge the length of wire to prepare.

I think that if you use a thinner wire you could see the stone better as the hammering makes the wire fatter. All the same they are COOL.

Just a few ideas for you. 1. I think you needed longer ribs on the first two stones. 2. I you could use your mini anvil to help you push your ribs into place. 3. I would use a 14 or 16 gauge wire because the 12 really hides to much of the stone. I love your ideas and to watch you create. Keep up the great work!!

If you use a chasing hammer you will not have marks on your wire. You can also use a tumbler with water, shot, a little dish soap and it will polish your wire. I took all of Connie Fox’s classes when I was CA. She used to write for Lapidary Journal which turned into Art Jewelry Magazine. I don’t know if the magazine is still being published because a lot of magazines are suffering. I started wire wrapping in the early 2,000’s. I had two of my works in the magazine. Good luck!

One pattern to wrap them all, one pattern to find them. One pattern to bring them all and in the wire bind them.

That is the main reason I learned bead weaving.
First you get the Fireline fishing thread, because it’s woven and strong, as if hardly stretches. You get small beads, and beading needle. Make a flower, simple. Then make a net and hold the to rock (gem or whatever) and continue. Oh it’s delightful!

Using the hammer for bending.....brilliant!...i love it...like a Macgyver move...using what you have around....my desk is so covered with pliers and mandrels and steel blocks...different hammers it's ridiculous really...no room to work. Love the wraps too!

Those turned out great! I really like the squiggle wire. Here's a tip for those of us who don't have finger gyms nearby, once wire is on a stone you can tap it with a rubber mallet to tighten it to the stone. I get my mallets at the Dollar Tree. I bet they would work amazing with a vise. And thank you for adding "incorporating fatness" into my vocabulary.

The 12 gauge Aluminum wire...hammered or even not hammered...looks great with this design. But IMHO, I definitely don't like the addition of thinner copper wire to create more strength. It just doesn't look right...kind of amateurish. How about simply making the aluminum 'arms' longer so they'll reach more of the stone's back, helping to create more security. Then run that long wire tail up to the top...'scarf' it...and, voila, no mismatched copper wire needed.
Lol...shouldn't have made a comment until I got to the end of this video! Lol. LOVE the brown stone's and even the amethyst's designs! Although, IMO, I'd like more 'space' and less 'metal' so the stone, itself, would show up better. All in all, though: GOOD JOB! :)

      Muriel, you read my mind!
Matt, happy hammering!! This is great stuff! I have a lovely pink quartz stone that my best friend gifted me and I've been looking for ideas on what to do with it. Your video is the winner!! ❤️

I plan to use your method on mixed-color, baked polymer clay pieces. Hope it gives me the look I’m seeing in my head. Thanks Matt.
