Thank you for this video Kara, my little grand daughter is part Samoan, I made your recipe with her today ...was spongy soft like yours, spiced just right and melt in your mouth from the first bite. The custard took your recipe to another level :) , it made us want to Siva :).

I do want to say that when I baked mine in a water bath, I baked it for 1hr 45mins to 2hrs because when I baked it for an hour the first time, I had a raw middle, and even though I put it back in for another hour I was able to save some parts of the puligi, but not all. Anyways, thank you so much for sharing your recipe, it’s definitely a heart warming meal in my family on Sunday evenings after a big toonai during quarantine ☺️🙏
By stirring from the beginning you are stopping the sugar from caramelising. Only needs to be stirred once it's on it's way. Cuts down on cooking time.

Thank you! I live in the States so it’s hard to find custard but I can find vanilla cook & serve jello here in almost every grocery store and it’s the best substitute for custard😁
Hi! No, you don’t need to put water at the bottom of the oven, just make sure to cover the top of your cake pan completely with tin foil, making a fine shape so it has room to steam☺️
