There's something special about my favorite track in Halo feeling almost like an easter egg at this point. Not on the OST, only plays in one room when people will hardly notice it playing, still the coolest track in CE.
I certainly noticed back during CE. I remember killing those 2 elites and just sitting in that hallway for long periods of time just to hear this beautiful song play over and over. Such a meditative calming thought provoking masterpiece
This track is striking with the environmental ambience on Assault on the Control Room. It sounds ancient, and has such a nostalgic and hypnotic presence.
God I hate how little credit Michael Salvatori gets for helping write these tracks. People always praise Marty, but never Michael. real shame, honestly.
This really does feel like a hidden track. It's not on the OST, and its only in one room in Assault on the Control Room. Not only that, but an area that a lot of players beyond that if they use the Banshee skip. It felt refreshing to remember this track was here when I heard it used for the menu of SPV3
It could be heard coming from a turntable in abandoned apartment above a square into the streets below. You didn’t notice at first, as it emerged slowly and subtly (midway through the song) out of the background ambience of a war zone, as if had been playing since before you dropped into this city, waiting for you patiently. As you stand there for a few seconds, pondering how this is possible, you are suddenly caught in huge ambush by Covenant forces. It’s still playing after they’ve been pacified, but while you were fighting, the record became stuck in the outer groove, forever… and it slowly fades out as you leave the area. You will be always haunted by what that music actually was, if it existed at all, or whether it was just a hallucination, the product of a long and costly war.
This track even if it's not part of the soundtrack is one of my favourite (Arborea Above at least is for anniversary). Such a deep song and I'm sure halo players reminisce about a time in their life which was much more simpler.
@@deepism the original wasn’t originally, years and years ago. Originally it had to be begged for on the forums. It’s available now, sure, but it’s been over 20 years. Arborea Above I think was available from the start in the anniversary version.
Damn, only 7 days ago this was put back up with about a couple dozen views. Just in general Halo has stayed with us even though most of us have moved on to other things. Magnificent story telling, and astounding soundtrack design.
So many songs had new versions made for Halo 2 and Halo 3, but this one is entirely unique to Halo CE. Even when I played it for the first time in 2005, this song caught my ear and I had to go looking for it right away.
This track reminds me of one of those last rooms before the banshees where there were a handful of Elites, a Zealot, and the Hunter pair. Fun times on solo Legendary.
I've finally found it! I remember I first heard it when playing a custom modded version of Assault At the Control Room, back on Custom Edition days. My world turned upside down when, years later, I heard it on the MCC itself. Then I knew I had to find this goddamn song because it was official
This song is so 🔥 made you and marines feel lost in the forerunner realm fighting countless enemies also lost trying to find the control room never knowing if you would survive or find the control room at all...
It is in the original on Assault on the Control room when you encounter the hunters and invisible elites. Right before you get outside again on the land bridge where the banshees are.
I was literally just playing this and thinking how unusual it sounded for CE yet reuses a familiar melody. Really cool and atmospheric. What the hell are the chances of being recommended it immediately after when I never search Halo music?
This song actually makes me feel uneasy kinda like being lost in a dream in a area that comes off as odd, I see a lot of people saying this is nostalgic but I get a rather off feeling about it, am I the only one?
Specifically after the pair of bridges. Once you cross the 2nd bridge, there is a room you need to clear. When you go to the next hallway, this song starts, there will be 2 invisible elites and an invisibility powerup. It plays until you kill the 2 hunters in the following room if I remember correctly. If you do Banshee grab, you will never hear this song. You need to hit the mission triggers to get this song to play.
We had to beg Marty to release this on the Bungie forums. The file name was literally "lost song". I still have it on a few hard drives.
Man that's so cool! Wish i could have been around to see it :(
Would you mind sharing the file? :)
@Neon Noir Whaa??? This composition is AMAZING??
Wait, does that mean there's a higher quality version out there still? Not just one that someone ripped from in-game, but an actual file of it?
@neonnoir9692 Are you saying there is a higher quality version floating out there for people to enjoy?

Imagine this masterpiece of track being in the Mombasa Streets of Halo 3 ODST 👌.

I like that they didn’t include Arborea Above in the soundtrack of CEA either, feels like a big brain nostalgia move.

Why does this song feel nostalgic?
I guess it's because it's from the first halo game :>
