I tried your head down cue the other day during a quad bike scare with my young horse from the ground like this and it calmed him right down when he was really scared, thank you 💕 love the palomino is he yours?
The only thing is that my horse has to be in her stable and its too dangerous to go in the fields with her and do the head bowing thing. Is there any specific head stoking patterns or anything that i can do to her over the stable door? I tried this with my 16hh welsh cob and it worked amazingly!
Just take your time and ask just little bits at a time with the head down cue. Over the stable door would make it harder but you can still do the same exercises by picking up on the lead rope and put some down pressure until you see her head drop even a little bit and the repeat the exercise until she is really good at it mikehugheshorsetraining.vhx.tv
Good Morning, Lunging is always a great exercise to teach any horse, it is always a good warm up exercises as well for horses. I know not everyone lunges there horse but it always good the horse know how to lunge mikehugheshorsetraining.vhx.tv
my issue is if someone cracks a whip she hides behind me and now it is getting harder and harder to keep her off my back las time i was sitting in the middle of the arena on the mounting block girls asked if they could free jump my horse i said ok there are 2 horse in the arena CARCK!! GOES THE WHIP BOTH HORSE COME CANTERING TOWARD ME AND HIND BE HIND ME
So it would be something you would want to start really easy with and get your horse desensitized to. One way is using a speaker and playing whips cracking at a low volume and as your horse gets better at it then you can increase the volume on the speaker, mikehugheshorsetraining.vhx.tv
