Check Valve Guide Clearance, Valve Spring Pressure, Valve Recession, Project Brutus, Episode 15!!!

  • In this episode we check valve guide clearance with the simple pop test and wiggle test, and then move on to more sophisticated methods using micrometers and split ball and telescoping gauges. We also test valve spring pressure with an easy to use tester and finish up with checking valve recession. All these tests were conducted at home with inexpensive and easy to use tools.

    Man! I love your videos. Learning so much about the terminology behind the measurements. I love wrenching in trucks but trying to read and fluently relay the numbers is kinda hard lol. But as a 16 year old taking automotive classes and training in that profession, I’m learning so dang much from this channel. You go into more depth in your videos then most of any other channel I can find. You’re doing great Scott! Keep it up!

    Another educational video. I do appreciate it! One small suggestion - you might want to consider a better wind filter for your microphone. It would help to filter some of the breath sounds.
