    By far, the best rigging instructional video I have seen. Thank you, from a novice 64 year old

    This helped me so much. I was struggling with the battons not going around the mast. I therefor assumed, that I needed more outhaul, which made it all unstable and difficult to ride. Thank you!

    Sail set-up. The skill everybody talks about and so few actually understand - Thank you. I was about ready to saw the board in half with frustration! My board and sail are too unstable for a beginner and it looks like there is no loose leach as it's a slalom sail.

    There is no question that the GetWindsurfing videos are the best!!
    But I could use more help in understanding this:
    At 8:00: “Leach comes at least a third of the way in”
    I have no idea what it means and how I am supposed to see this.

      +pbtube58, it means that given even the lightest of wind conditions, in order for the sail to work properly, you should still downhaul so far as to see the leech drop in the top panel (which is the first panel to drop anyways) and form a bend around 1/3 of the way from the leech (in the video there is the arrow across the leech indicating where the bend in the sail should be, which in this particular model of sail corresponds with the inner end of the short batten). In really gusty conditions, you can downhaul so far as to have the leech in the second panel drop; the more you downhaul and the more the bend line will move toward the mast. I hardly ever use more than one third bend on the second panel, for strong GUSTY winds, beyond that the sail loses a lot of power and feels too loose/wobbly. You can find an excellent article on sail design here: www.ezzy.com/rig-support/ezzy-basic-sail-design-theory/. Cheers, Max.

    I have an old sail which doesn't have a polley just one hole in it (where the polley in this video). How should I rig the sail to avoid the ropes to crossing? Or can I buy a polley which can somehow install afterwards to use with my sail?

    I obviously need more downhaul on my sail but sometimes it feels like I'm going to shred my sail if I keep going

    Thank you for information. I understood I mistake when attach the boom rope until this time. :(

  • @MonkeyKing3333
    @MonkeyKing3333 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    This is probably a dumb question. When I tighten the boom rope it seems to tightens the leech so it's not floppy is that okay? Or should I tighten the boom first then adjust the mast rope? Hope that makes sense.

  • @stephpilot
    @stephpilot 5 ปีที่แล้ว

    The markings on my boom are faded out, where do you measure the boom from, end to end? Or from where the centre of the mast would be to the other end?

  • @alxrms5880

    What do you mean by saying that the battens above and below the boom should me touching the mast?

    at what height did you adjust the extension and boom with this 5.2? How do I proportion each time?

    • @teeropita3208
      @teeropita3208 ปีที่แล้ว

      He probably did 18cm. The luff length (e.g. 418cm) is the mast and mast extension length combined. So if he has a 400cm mast he needs to have 18cm of extension. Some sail brands like this exact sail instead of luff say: mast (e.g. 400) extension (e.g. 18cm)

    my battens touch my mast but i cant really rotate them they are between 1/3 1/2 of the mast but i just got a little room for more downhaul and the setting of the extension is good any tips (if i put tension on the sail and with the the other hand i try to rotate its going over the mast with no problem)

    • @GetWindsurfing
      @GetWindsurfing  7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Genji Fox do the battens rotate with wind in the sail? if the battens are not rotating it is often a sign that you need more down haul. if there is is not much room left to do this add a little more on the extention

    Instead of a windsurf tool use the harness. Just loop the rope around it and that's it
