Lots of times I like to open these kinds of videos talking about a song from the game, since they are a very pure way to get across the atmosphere the game is going for. I've done it with OneShot, and OMORI as well.

Another interesting thing about the track "Justice", is that, when you die in Undertale, the track that it plays is called "Determination", being "Justice" Clover's "Determination" track.

I think the biggest thing that makes this game so good is that while it does have it’s dark moments. The game thankfully doesn’t make the mistake of most fan content of making every character extremely edgy for no reason. I cannot tell you how many cut and paste edgy Sans battles I have seen over the years. And while yes Cedora is more stoic after playing you can kind of understand why she is the way she is. (Also they actually made stayed true to Flowey being a sociopathic little gremlin)

I feel like a big misstep with Ceroba is that a lot of good character dialogue is locked behind the "party talk" option in the menu where you can hear her commentary in every room. Sometimes she just gives you a generic response which tells the player that its not worth bothering but other times it gave me paragraphs of dialogue that actually gave the added depth the character needed in my eyes. It sucks that this is locked behind something most people would never bother checking after the first few times. (Also in some rooms you have to talk to her multiple times to exhaust all this unique dialogue which is beyond obtuse)

What I like about the fan game is that they took the ideas that I like a lot:
We never seen the whole Underground it's bigger than what we saw.
But it also follows the story of previous soul making it a prequel.
Which allowed original characters to shine, along with adding few new areas that might as well be canon to original Undertale.

I've recently just played a Half-Life 2 Mod known as Entropy Zero 2 and was blown away by how well it was made by a bunch of fans, Undertale Yellow seems to fall in that same category of "how-the-fuck-did-they-do-this?". It's impressive to not only see all of the beautiful artwork, music, and writing being made by people who fell in love with Undertale, but I can't express how strong they are for pushing through with this since its announcement in 2016, it's transparent that this was made with pure passion. I like how the game puts emphasis in how miserable life is in the Underground and how some monsters cope with it, like how the Wild East is just a big roleplaying session where you pretend you're on the surface. It reminds me of the last portion of Undertale where the game constantly makes you wonder if you're doing the right thing by trying to escape, when everyone would be so much happier if you just gave up your soul.

One thing I particularly liked was the world building. In Undertale, outside of a few instances, you never really get the idea that there’s more to the Underground than what you actually travel through, making it feel a bit small for an area that’s supposed to contain the entirety of Monsterkind
However in Undertale Yellow, you get far more of an idea of how GRAND the Underground is, with the sprawling Dark Ruins, the glimpse of Hotland and Waterfall you see when sailing on Ava that make them feel like these sprawling cities, what I can only assume is a MASSIVE Swelterstone in the distance of the Dunes, the abandoned elaborate design of the Steamworks, the extra building next to the hotel that shows you a glimpse of the Core, and what we see of the modern architecture with medieval flourishes of New Home
It really makes it feel like, despite how claustrophobic the Underground must feel like to its denizens, it’s a truly EXPANSIVE place we’re only seeing the briefest glimpses of

Undertale Yellow's pacifist ending didn't make me cry in the midst of it (although I will say it came very, VERY close), but rather the days after while thinking about it. I guess reflecting on the game, seeing the other ways it can end, and as a whole and putting it all into perspective really helped emphasize the weight, significance, and beauty of Clover's sacrifice.
I just love how human all the stories of the Undertale world are. Bravery. Patience. Integrity. Persistence. Justice. Kindness. And of course, Determination. These are the values that these games holistically and unapologetically stand for and it always makes me tear up how beautifully they let it be known. I'm really glad I got to experience the way I felt finishing the original Undertale for the first time once again, something I thought I'd never be able to experience ever again.
    TL;DR good game :3

For me, I had this nagging feeling that she wanted to be closer and open up like the other characters, but something was off the whole time. As an average Undertale fan, I knew how it was going to end, but it handled the journey in such a way that I really cared by the foregone conclusion's arrival. Not to mention, *one particular route* takes the prequel status and tears it to shreds, destroying the canon in a way that really makes it stand out for having consciously done so.

Martlet and Ceroba are both great characters. But something just feels off with how Ceroba is presented and developed. Martlet feels way more natural, imo. I really love however the presentation for Ceroba in the genocide route, very straight to the point, yet very impactful.

    • @fivelike11

@@ivandreuxzuev9473 yeah, I guess so. But her development is weird because, up until the very last decision, there's no development. She's always been on a quest: to take our soul to p much turn monsters into super-soldiers, basically. So, in the meantime, she puts on a mask for us. She tricks us. Once we back her in a corner, she can only reveal herself to us with her true goal, which we're now aware of. However, she took a liking to us, slowly but surely causing her to struggle more to fight us (you can see her weep in her last attack of phase one), before focusing back on the fight when we actually start fighting back. and as the fight progresses, she gets more desperate, until giving up and begging us for death. Then Star wakes up and p much verbally slaps her back to reality. Her character development feels weird because there's no real character development other than dropping the mask and friend-to-ememy-to-friend in true paci. And to me, it's perfectly fine like that. sure, she might grow attached, but nobody's gonna change in just 2/3 hours. Fake it, maybe, but nothing more.

In my opinion Undertale Yellow's endings are kind of similar to the "lawful" part of the personality spectrum from DND.
    Spoilers ig:
    Pacifist: Lawful Good
    Neutral: Lawful Neutral
    Genocide: Lawful Evil
Every ending has a sense of purpose, but none really fully satisfy, because in every case judgement is dealt by someone and another must pay.
They are all lawful because of Clover's judgement, they originally came down there for close minded justice, which is lawful neutral.
Just going through the underground defending yourself, and fighting for what you think is right is still neutral.
Killing everything in your way just for get-backs however, disregards all reasoning, though it still has a real purpose and cause for Clover. Lawful evil.
Changing your initial view on things and joining the ones you think are oppressed in their fight, even at the cost of your own soul does not need to be explained. Lawful good.
Original undertale's endings could also have the lawful counterpart applied to them, but I think Frisk is more on the chaotic spectrum, especially for their pacifist and genocide routes.

I feel the main problem with Ceroba is how late she is presented into the game for being so important. Like, the true reason I felt so attached to Martlet is how you first see her from behind, then fight her, then befriend her, then get separated from her, then reunitted, then separated again and then reunited. With Ceroba however, all feels very rushed, you get to meet her, and you are all of a sudden helping her without any particular reason, and then, surprise, she is bad. Like, if you judt got to know something about her before the dune area i feel it woukd probably be better. Like, if Martlet woukd have just made a reference to the wife of this old friend that lives in the Wild West town somewhere before reaching there. It would have felt a bit better i think.
Her battle theme is still an absolute banger though.

Martlet does make reference to Ceroba before reaching the Wild East, if you go to Cerobas gate and talk to Martlet she'll reference how she knows the person living there and how she doesn't think she'll want visitors before calling her a poor thing, Cerobas herself also has a lot of extra dialogue in both the Wild East and SteamWorks that most people miss because for the Wild East you have to go out of your way to find Ceroba and then talk to her repeatedly until she's out of dialogue (which most people I've seen let's play this game didn't even know you could interact with characters more than once and also somehow manage to talk to everyone but Ceroba) then in the SteamWorks you have to talk to her using the talk option in your menu (again most people I've watched play this game do this like once or twice with Martlet than never again or just forget about in SteamWorks) where she has a metric ton of extra dialogue (in some rooms you have to talk to her like 3 or 4 time to see it all) for example you can learn that Cerobas scared of heights through these talk dialogues though she'll deny it (poorly) whenever it's brought up.

I'm really glad I watched this video after playing Undertale Yellow because I had a similar reaction to Ceroba. She's a well written character, deeply tragic in her own way and very stoic, which all in all is good traits for building a character. Though I always felt a bit disconnected to Ceroba compared to other characters just due to the setting that is the Undertale world.
Ceroba seems a bit too stoic and serious, which actually works well as a stark contrast to how everyone else is handling their situations. The problem lies in the idea that she becomes like a brick wall and doesn't bother to play up or off of any of the elements brought up in the game, making it feel like whenever she's on screen it's all serious and that subtle feeling if dread and tragedy is much more in your face. She has her moments, sure, but she could be doing just a little bit more to fit in. Just having her give a little snirk or snicker at North Star's antics and playing up her concern for others around her would do so much for her character without derailing her arc or theme, since she's not being an active participant in any of it and is still sad and serious when she's challenged or by default (plus it would make North Star's motive for doing what he does more believe since I barely ever got that feel when he mentions it). She's literally one or two dialog boxes away from being one of my favorites and it's kind of a shame. Still a great character all in all though, I just wish I could cry harder for her.

Ceroba actually has more dialogue in the game that adds to her character that a lot of people miss because you have to go out of your way to find it, in the Wild East for example she'll appear at least once after every mission and once you've done the dual with Starlo you'll be able to interact with her more than once to get even more dialogue out of her for example you can learn about Kanako directly after the train mission and very easily put together that's she's not around anymore, and when you're in the SteamWorks she has tons of talk dialogue (sometimes like 3 or 4 per room) that most people don't see, for example you can learn that Cerobas scared of heights in the SteamWorks and she will actively deny it whenever it's brought up.

God, I hope so... I've missed Undertale so much, and at one point, I did really enjoy the fan creations of it... But then it just kind of fell off and I haven't been able to re-engage with fan works until Undertale Yellow's full release. Some Soul themed games are in development, and I think Yellow's success might encourage them to step up their game. Hell, I kind of want to get into Undertale modding because of it.
My fears with that though is that either they won't live up to the hype or simply not fit within Undertale's continuity with Yellow included. Even before Yellow, there were people working on Soul themed games, and I don't know if people working on Undertale Kindred Spirits (Purple and Blue) for instance will change their entire Genocide route just to fit within the canon of Undertale Yellow.
Even so, the possibilities are endless. Imagine a future where we have stories for every human soul in Undertale- Omega Flowey would feel so much more cathartic knowing the humans we're freeing/the humans who are saving us.

0:18 Undertale and Deltarune have this too. I adore Deltarune's Faint Courage, it gives you message "You may have lost this game... BUT THERE'S WORLD TO SAVE, YOU HAVE ANOTHER CHANCE, GET UP!". And Earthbound(Undertale is confirmed to be inspired by it) with Mother 3(it isn't confirmed to inspire Deltarune, but there are many parallels and similarities, linking it to Mother 3 instead of Earthbound) have such ideology too! They give you a look at main character lying or being a ghost, but play music giving message "You got your head handed to you... SO, HOW ABOUT GIVING ANOTHER SHOT?". No "GAME OVER" or something else that insults player. Just a game over screen that shows that you may have lost, but it's OK and you can try again.

I think I just enjoyed the pacing of the Steamworks in such a way that I was just more willing to press the talk option in every room, especially when I noticed there was actually a lot of dialogue in there.
Overall I enjoy the game around as much as the original, I feel like some of the humor didn't land as well, but the bullet patterns were more fun.

      @ivandreuxzuev9473 10 หลายเดือนก่อน +5

Yeah. And his whole problem with this ghosts that terrorize him is just left completely unexplored. Like, in that regard the game feels a bit behind undertale. Dalv could have been the perfect sidestory as the one of for example Metatton and Nastablook in undertale. The game just lacks some depth to it, some more side stories to play. Undertale was amazing because everything was related, while in undertale yellow everything feels more isolated. For example, in Undertale we are presented with 6 main important characters ignoring Flowey/Asriel. Toriel is related to Sans and to Asgore, and, overall, everyone actually knows about her. Sans is related to Papyrus and Toriel, even though there is so much more to his character and his role. Papyrus is related to Sans and Undyne. Undyne is related to Papyrus, Alphys and Asgore. Alphys is related to Undyne and Asgore (+Mettaton side story and all the true lab and royal scientist lore), and Asgore is related to Undyne, Toriel and Alphys. If we look at Undertake yellow it's much more linear. Dalv it's isolated, not related to any other character of the cast. Martlet is related to a dead character about which we don't get to know a lot until the end, and, so, her bond with Ceroba is not that meaningful. A great amount of the game goes through without us meeting any important character (dunes and mines). And then, Starlo is totally unrelated to anything we had seen, while Ceroba just feels in a pack with him. And then, all of a sudden, the game is practically on it's ending. That's the biggest criticism I can make I think.

I couldn't quite put my finger on why, but she felt like a side character that took over the story out of nowhere.I was honestly kind of ready to leave her behind when you leave the desert area but instead keeps sticking around in the story until the end of the game. I warmed up to her near the end of the pacifist ending with her final boss but that initial hour or so of adjusting to her becoming the focus of the plot kind of lowered my opinion of the story. I think all of this kind of made for the pacifist run being the weakest ending story-wise.

I love everything about UTY a lot and I think everything you said up to 2/3rds or so thru the video was spot-on. But Ceroba... well, I'm torn between saying "I love her so much man, I don't get why you and others seem to not" and "Actually I do kind of get it". I feel like just her character design "haha cute fox lady" is almost a cheat code for making her instantly appealing to people "like me", not necessarily FURRIES but like, people who are drawn to 'cute' character designs in games like UT which MANY of the Yellow characters follow closely to the design philosophy of (Martlet, Ceroba and her whole family, Mooch, the first several shopkeepets etc) but Ceroba MOST of all. I kind of get that some of us will just love that instantly but some will take it almost as a challenge to find true likability in the character, like Scott Falco instantly summed up with calling her "Fanart Fox" and having similar issues to you.
In the end, I think she's designed great and written very weill and properly "sappy" without going overkill, but I guess just introducing her as a small 1/6th of the Wild East gang then making the WHOLE rest of Pacifist ALL ABOUT her and her family and pushing almost all the other characters to the wayside is understandably kind of disappointing in a way, even though I love her and her story and battles a lot. Keeping in mind that she's a very small part of the story in both the Neutral and Genocide routes as well as the fact that her and her family are actually nicely tied together with EVERY other major character in the story helps, but I kind of get it..
I will say, most of all though, my boy Dalv should have been in the story WAY more, dammit. I'd have also not minded Axis getting a bit toward the end in any route instead of being so self-contained.

Like as the audience we like her, but her interactions with our protagonist wasn't really all there for me. • @nenudiable-7649
    @nenudiable-7649 11 หลายเดือนก่อน +30

Personal opinion, I have but a few gripes with the game.
    1. I believe another issue with Ceroba is not just how she's written, but... I mean no offense to the creators for this, she doesn't LOOK like an Undertale character. She doesn't fit in. She lacks that same charm most Undertale characters have to their designs, making her look almost look bland in comparison. Take, for example, Starlo. He BREATHES Undertale. It flows through his VEINS. It's indescribable, the design that went into him. But Ceroba? She just looks like a fox in a kimono (mainly because that's what she is, she's a kitsune). She doesn't stand out all that well. Even Martlet beats her out, at minimum with her wing arms and generally more expressive face.
    2. My second issue is also unfortunately my biggest one: The combat system feels more one-note than Undertale. Most ACTs do nothing, even in boss fights, so you just end up waiting for the boss to finish their attacks. Sure, Toriel was like that, but she's the only one from Undertale who I believe WAS like that. In other cases too, ACTs tend to do nothing, not even hint at what you're supposed to do. I got caught up at Sir Slither for so long I could basically no-hit the guy and cheese all his attacks when I was done and figured out what to do. A standout case for this is AXIS. I would go into detail, but if you played the game, I have a feeling you already know what I mean.

Meanwhile Papyrus, Undyne, Muffet, Mettaton, Asgore *and* Asriel's Phase one:
So no Toriel wasn't the only one who's act options did particularly nothing besides just adding a little description to their characters or what is happening around the fight.
For Papyrus you can just spare him through whole fight without single use of ACT options and still get a date.
When it comes to genocide route it is: Undyne and Sans are the only ones that have zero act options.

@@leritykay8911 At least with Muffet, you get the option to pay her to make her attacks a bit less threatening. It's not _much,_ admittedly, but it's still an ACT that effects the fight, even if you can ignore it.

    • @vsptylore3639
      @vsptylore3639 11 หลายเดือนก่อน +4

I'll talk about the second thing first, because it's been talked about already in these replies and it's the game's main flaw: the act button is significantly more useless than in Undertale. The only major boss that you needed to wait out is Papyrus, every other boss had a specific way to spare them. Even Toriel, the example given in this comment. If you use Act options over and over, you won't get anywhere, you need to spare her. The same doesn't apply to Papyrus, or the vast majority of bosses in Yellow. Muffet is a miniboss, not a major boss. And you need to wait out Mettaton phase one, sure. But that's _phase one._ The other half of the fight has the most in-depth Act system in the whole game. You either pose to get a decent ratings boost, boast to increase your ratings much higher as long as you don't get hit, or scoff at the audience to incentivize getting hit. Undertale's Pacifist run took on more of a puzzle game approach to your end of the combat, you needed to figure out how to spare each enemy, even if they didn't want to be spared. That's just fully gone in Yellow. The closest thing to a "puzzle boss" is Martlet, because you at least need to use the Act menu at some point, but the game will functionally already be won by the time you need to insult her. She doesn't even have other attacks until you do. Yeah, there are bosses in Undertale where you're supposed to fight, but the Act menu doesn't have 3 fake options that all do nothing in those fights. They're all entirely blank other than the option to check. Because, you know, you're there to fight. You're not there to do the puzzle boss thing.
And yeah, Ceroba just doesn't fit in. I'm hardly the first person to say this, but Undertale Yellow's NPC cast is filled with what can only be described as furries. Not that it's 100% furry or anything, as this comment says, Starlo is peak Toby Fox character design. But there's just a lot of NPCs that feel like when fan game creators would insert themselves in older fan games, like they've been dropped into the world by an entirely different creator. Which, yeah, technically, they have, but you know what I mean. Ceroba stands out less than some of the minor NPCs, especially since she's based on a monster from folklore, but you could tell me that the other furry NPCs were the creator's fursonas and I'd believe you

I wanna state my opinion. About the "main cast", ive seen ppl complaining about ceroba mostly, martlet kinda (i truly despise her final fight in genocide, but in pacifist i still love her), even dalv lack of appearence, but i still think that starlo arc was kinda weird. When i did go to steamworks with ceroba, i was actually excited to travel with her and learn more about her tbh, i just dont like how much she says "...", but starlo arc feels rlly weird. Sure he was being an asshole to his crew, but they brought up that "i miss old starlo" like??? I think this was rlly flawed, because they just met clover, and then right after says that? Also, on starlo fight, he stated that "everything was going great until you appeared", but that rlly conflicts with "i miss old starlo" statement, and its rlly confusing. Also, after the steamworks, starlo arc becomes rlly forgetable imo, but thats just my opinion

honestly i agree- starlo is my favorite character but there are two scenes i refuse to think about
      1. the whole lead up to his fight “CURSE YOU TWELVE YEAR OLD WHO I WOULDNT LET LEAVE U CAUSED ALL MY PROBLEMS!”
      2. his reaction to ceroba’s death in the flawed pacifist
if you just.. ignore the whole showdown thing lol. i LOVE his personality in the wild east, that was the silliest and most enjoyable part of the game for me!
for ceroba i def feel like she was waaay overdone. like; once you moved past the wild east you’re pretty much done with starlo but ceroba is shoved in your face for like the last third of the game

    He found the other humans
And besides what he did was for the future for monster kind
    Not himself
It was the only outcome that would have happened in pacifist regardless if he fought asgore
In the end he made a choice for the future of all monsters
The hopes and dreams of everyones future
And in the end... he layed there... knowing what he did was right... and no matter how you look at the ending he found what he was looking for
And in the end of the day. It was a sense of true justice for all.

    @PiniutLEGIT 10 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

A lot of people praise the game, yet here I am - empty inside. It's because of how the game plays out. The game doesn't let the player have the justice they deserve. No matter what path you choose, you are being punished: in Pacifist, you get hard final battle; in Genocide, you get 2 hard battles; in Neutral, you just get a mental scarring. While we play as a Justice SOUL, I feel a complete lack of Justice. We either get to sacrifice ourselves, sacrifice everyone else or do a Neutral's burning memories. It's not a story about Justice, but Injustice - for the player. And genocide doesn't get the kind of same Serious treatment. We still get some jokes around, but overall it doesn't punish the player too much. The only challenge are the two main fights.
The only "happy" ending for Clover is Genocide, which ends in them leaving the Underground. The Pacifist is about sacrifice, that leads later to a Neutral Ending of Undertale.
True, all these "injustices" I mentioned make sense from the story point, but why punish the player with a hard boss fight, when all he did was try to be a good person? Lore-wise, the abandoned Pacifist, where we kill Ceroba is the true ending, since we know Asgore killed all the humans that fell in the Underground, while in True Pacifist we just "surrender in".
"Oh, but not every story has to have a good ending." That's not the point. I am fine with Clover sacrificing themselves. I am not fine with the difficulty spike coming from the fight with Ceroba. If anything, I feel like the Ceroba fight from Pacifist should be swapped with the Ceroba fight from Genocide. That way, the player is actually punished way more for trying Genocide, rather than being a good person in Pacifist and getting beach-slapped at the end and preventing "slightly worse" players from finishing the game.

I think i should leave it here because it’s important to me and i don’t see anyone talking about it much, my only gripe with the game and true pacifist in general, ending of it specifically.
So, to preface, Clover is a kid who probably came from a bad family as hinted in the game, and we are supposed to feel bad for characters and understand their motives.
So, in the ending, when Clover rightfully realises that monsters deserve Justice, he decides to give his soul to Ceroba after the fight. And i don’t hate the ending on itself, i just hate how it was executed:
    1. Clover’s friends didn’t really hesitate to take his soul, *especially Ceroba* who is actually trying to convince the other two that Clover needs to give his soul, even disregarding the fact that *guards gave up on finding Integrity* it just gives a feeling, like after realising all her flaws and shortcomings, and possibly getting a redemption after offing her daughter due to a mistake “for the greater good” she just… agrees to Clover’s sacrifice immediately? Without any emotions? What??? When what her fight was supposed to be? She just decides to change her entire character in the last moments, throwing her character development out of window???
    2. Starlo and Ceroba don’t apologise to Clover after what they’ve done really at the end: Starlo literally tried to off Clover for his own selfish issues and shifting blame on a… child.
Ceroba constantly treated him coldly and didn’t care about how dangerous steamworks are to him, going as far as BLAMING HIM FOR DEFENDING HIMSELF AGAINST A ROBOT, like WHAT? That’s something you don’t see in true pacifist but it tells you everything you need to know, a robot created by her husband > innocent child
Yet Clover never received any apology for being treated like trash for no reason… it’s just sad
    3. The gang could have been more empathetic towards Clover at the end, instead of just going “yeah you should do it” they could have shown *genuine* emotions, especially Ceroba, because after taking Clover’s soul… she literally just *leaves him to himself, to slowly pass away, all alone???* that was the biggest WTF moment for me. That kid decided to sacrifice himself for monsterkind, and you just leave him without even a “thank you”? Nothing? WTF Ceroba? Her only saving grace at the end is that she decided to give Clover’s soul to Asgore to free monsterkind instead of using his soul for the serum to off or fight humanity
The ending could’ve been handled much better if for example Ceroba seen how Clover is a lot like Kanako and felt some more empathy for him, like giving more dialogue, maybe hugging Clover at the end, and Starlo along with Ceroba apologised for what misdeeds they’ve done. Or maybe, the ending could have been that when Clover is lying alone, the 5 other souls could appear next to him to symbolise that despite not doing *justice to them specifically* they still approve of what he has done, so Clover can finally rest in peace, knowing that his adventure was NOT in vain, giving him a peace of mind. It would have so much more dramatic and happy effect, while still remaining bittersweet.
I understand the game’s message about justice but damn… Clover is just a scared, traumatised kid, who in the end, never received an apology from his “friends” and is just dumped, to pass on all alone… like *WHAT* ??? Clover deserves justice too.
And yes i wrote a lot because i really got emotionally invested in the game but the pacifist felt like Clover just got betrayed and thrown away after everything he has done.

Spoilers for the near the end of uty
One thing i really don't like Ceroba is how careless she is with her daughter and ignoring her husband's warnings, i know shes supposed to be flawed. And like using you. But it felt so ridiculously dumb for her to inject her daughter with it. i couldn't feel sorry for her, as much as the plot wanted me too.
Like what if Kanako found the Serum on her own and used it and Ceroba found her afterwards and saw her die.
I think it would make Ceroba look much less like a careless idiot, and she could feel guit for not keeping the serun hidden well enough. Or warning Kanako about it. So like she still feel alot of guilt, but not outright an idiotic parent.
I like her i find her character pretty interesting. But yeah its hard to take some parts of her plot seriously because of that point

Why was she just Asriel, Im I missing some complexity to her character? Speaking of her character, why the hell did she let her daughter, a child, convince her to do the little experiment thing???

    • @mythicalmew6054

Because she was convinced that it would work. But she wouldn't have done it out of personal taste and Chujin's wishes until Kanako basically started begging her. She's definitely a lot different from Asriel and it's fine for a game to put a lot of focus into one of its characters, especially when they make a point of using an entirely original cast.
