- In this episode I show how finding small isolated reefs on your sounder is the key to catching quality fish. I use fishing methods that suit particular species which maximizes your time on the water to ensure you get to take home an esky full of fish trip after trip.
Deep dropping/Deep drop fishing areas off Moreton Island, Stradbroke Island Brisbane Australia account for a range of species including bar cod, pearl perch, snapper, eastern nannygai and a rare krasyukova's perch. Finding the fish on the Furuno FCV-295 using a 2kw 82b-35r transducer was the key in this episode.

You understand fishing so well Greg. Always great to watch but more importantly, listen to what you are talking about.
cheers man!!!
Thanks heaps mate its greatly appreciated. Cheers
Greg what length and pe rating is the wilson vemon deep drop I see you only put up wilson deep drop thanks mate ya smashing them
Hi Phil, they're still currently in development stage and just called wilson deep drop. They're around 6 foot long. Rating would be around that 24kg range but they exceed that well and truly.
Was at the ramp the same time as you boys in the morning. Saw the boat and was disappointed it wasnt littlerippa. Great video as usual. Get the old boy to switch off the lights when backing down the ramp. ;)
haha thanks mate. I'm always yelling out turn the lights off. Sorry bud
Nice work Greg, did you get a length on the big PP's?
Cheers mate I think the biggest went 67cm mate
Very well done guys! I can almost taste those pearlies through the screen 🤤👍
Haha thanks mate they sure are tasty. Love them.
Those Pearlies look so similar to the w.a Dhufish, almost Identical at the same size, dhuies are 1 of the best tasting fish in the ocean as well so if they're anything like them would be a good feed 👌..
Very similar mate, if only they grew as big as the Dhufish lol. Yep Pearl Perch are top eating. Cheers
I never knew pearlys got so big until about a year ago. When you catch them around the reef off Townsville you would be lucky to get anything bigger than 30cm. They obviously move to the deep cold water and get way bigger.
haha yeah the get big alright. For central and north QLD they become pretty rare and you need to hit the continental shelf in that 100plus mtrs to find them.
What happened to the sharks, must be getting scarce, NOT.
Brilliant trip again, well done.
hahaha I fished those areas to avoid them. I couldn't handle another trip of sharkings lol.
Stuff the sharks hey. Way too many and on the ball for a free feed.
Such a great teacher mate, appreciate the effort you go to to help us better understand how to fish effectively and responsibly.
Thanks heaps for the kind words mate. I put so much time and effort in so I'm glad people like yourself can see that. Thanks heaps.
