Hello Gentlemen DIY. good work on this vid, your system has improved greatly, good boots make the job less tiring, warm feet make the day more enjoyable.
Love the drone shots of the hills. The hills here are boring, mostly north/south drumlins from glaciers. My cow pasture is one of the few east/west ones around. Way faster than sawsall
What I've done for the "dump in fill" is put a couple of hooks onto a cut out piece where it allows it to hang on the outside of the tote. Only have 4 locations where wood can be in contact with the hangers. Once the wood is in and taken to the final resting location, I just pull the "gate" off and let it sit. Works great and only have a few gates to modify to make it work.
Great video. I personally skip most of actual splitting in all videos. Wife liked and asked me what was the music in the intro and I told her it was Jake's intro music with drone footage. She said "Jake from State Farm? " Laughing I said "no!! Jake from Dude Ranch DIY". too funny.
HI, I can appreciate the higher quality, I have noticed, and fair enough for cracking on without filming, the only thing I would like to see if it isn't too much trouble is if you're going to do a 6 hour session or however long, perhaps wide angle time-lapse you can just set to run and forget until you're done? I already love the time lapses you do so would be good to watch you crank out all the totes being as productive as you can be.
Hey Jake and Chris I personally like what u guys are doing I get little tips from u guys and grand utilize them in my wood yard not everything works for me in my set up but love seeing the wheels spinning all the time and trying to make it better simple way. I’m on east coast I’m in sounds central PA we got 10.5 or so inches of snow I have a lawn maintenance/ tree service business on side kinda like ur tree gig and I do snow removal as well first snow real snow we had in like two years def was good time getting to do that n easy money lol
The race is on! Got my 22-28 going into production email 2 weeks ago, final payment made, and my total knee replacement is scheduled for February 7th. Which will get here first, my 22-28😢 or Feb-7!
I ordered it August 31st, 2023. I was advised by Gerry it would be 12-16 months. Then Andrew put out a new video about 4 months ago that they had good news. Their increased production and larger facility has enabled them to decrease lead times down to 6 months. I would imagine ordering yours now will get it for you prior to June. Here is the video. th-cam.com/video/CPF6JHQNc_U/w-d-xo.htmlsi=pnIx9r0td-vNj96v
I offer kindling bundles to roadside stand customers but not many sell, plenty of sticks in peoples yards already 😂 I also use it and give it away to friends and family.
Thanks for the video, Jake and Chris! Beautiful splits coming out of the machine, are you on a pizza wedge? Good idea on the cages, I am thinking doing same. Or maybe cut 1/2 emt conduit halfway and use hose clamps to make a slip on gate. Oh, and if Heath and Rachel ever get a conveyor they would have to sell their totes...
Jake and Chris, don’t worry about for the filming you and Chris have to get wood ready for next year playing with cameras isn’t going to get things done ✅ 😮😊❤
Great video!! Like the drone shots!! I ordered a pair of Hisea about a year ago, not happy. Maybe should have bought a larger pair. Stay Hydrated and Have a Safe Day
Great video!! Question so whats the popular for camp wood? Didn't see no oak being split. Now that some pretty wood but alot waste but I see the way isn't really waste. Now this 7 is for firewood size people want or for pizza oven people? Thank you!
All of the wood here split was ash. It’s a great middle of the road. Wood drives very quickly and burns great for both heat and recreational use. I primarily use the seven way pizza box wedge, because it produces small splits that dry quick.
Another thing just get like four different cameras put them in different locations and just leave them for a couple hours. Make sure that they have a fob with them so you can turn the camera off on whenever it is you wanna record and not record
Guys if you want try to put up some static cameras around the splitter and wood yard. The splice it together with a voice overlay if you want more videos.
Chris , Jake.... check the air pressure in your splitter tires... looks like it's either sinking in the dirt or loosing pressure.... Lotta weight, shakin and weather changes going on..
U know if u made a wood furnace heated forced air kiln with a insulated cargo container u could burn all your scraps . Dry the scraps in the container kiln in ibcs and have super dry kindling to burn in the furnace to dry your firewood and have kiln dried wood in a few days of drying. All u need is fans in the container pushing air 24/7 with hot air being blasted inside. With an adjustable vent run to let excess moisture out. I would be splitting wood but its a blizzard outside and gonna be 2ft of snow on the ground after today
Not that you don't have time to butcher a bunch of totes I think it's stupid . . the way you're doing it is the best way you can't beat perfection. you see these guys butchering totes losing their structural integrity.when all you have to do is take two rachet straps cut to length and ratchet the tote to machine. give it a couple flips it all comes out.
The intro to your video if you didn’t, I think you were people care less about all the Hollywood stuff before we get to it because I think a lot of us I’m speaking for myself only though I would much rather see just the working side of it not number none of this glamour shot stuff prior to seeing the splitting and all that stuff really not into the glamour stuff
Appreciate the feedback, this video is currently ranked #1 out of my videos at the moment and has higher than normal views. Based on that and other feedback I’ve gotten in the comments, viewers seem to enjoy the few extra minutes of B roll footage. I do understand it’s not for everyone, which is why you can fast forward to the splitting action! Thanks for watching!
@@DudeRanchDIY yeah I wasn’t complaining not at all I really like you videos a lot just one of these people that like to see the work lol lol but thank you for replying Keep up the good work 🙏🏽⛄️😃
I noticed a huge difference in the quality and structure of the video. Turned out great guys!!!
Thanks for watching Andrew! See ya in a few weeks!
Great video, thanks for bringing us along. The editing was great, close ups awesome, drones are cool.
Glad you enjoyed it!
The video quality is up for sure, had some hometown acres vibes. Good work boys!
Thanks Adam gave me some tips haha trying to make it my own
Hello Gentlemen DIY. good work on this vid, your system has improved greatly, good boots make the job less tiring, warm feet make the day more enjoyable.
Thanks Ben! Hope you’re well!
you should def take HWM's advice on the totes, hes always super excited to share his tote modifications with everyone
He has some great ideas! Just a little more modification than I’m willing to take the time to do!
Keep doing the videos however you all feel best doing. Bennettsville SC all rain here. Have a great day be safe.
Thanks will do!
Love the drone shots of the hills. The hills here are boring, mostly north/south drumlins from glaciers. My cow pasture is one of the few east/west ones around. Way faster than sawsall
Yep very hilly around here, lots of windy roads

Sounds like a good idea, I’d love to see a picture
@@DudeRanchDIY We're having a big snow storm and I don't want to get out in it, but I'll get you one soon.

lol if I had a nickel for every time I got called Jake from State Farm!
Great video and I always enjoy some drone shots. Be sure to get your work finished and we'll be here when you have content to share!!
Haha thanks Obie, the drone has been fun to learn
Nothing but rain here, 40 min north in pa got snow though 😂😂 crazy weather. Awesome video dudes. Hope to see you in a few weeks?
Yeah lots of rain tomorrow! Yep we’ll be there 👍🏼🍻

Thanks! I definitely could do something like that, lots of time-lapse, minimal talking, lots of firewood!

Thanks, yeah snow was nice for some OT
Great intro footage, what a nice area of the world to live and work in! Cheers from Haumoana Hawkes Bay N Z. And happy new year fellas.

Hopefully the splitter so you can play a bit before surgery!
@@DudeRanchDIY Exactly. It's gonna suck just staring at it without being able to use it at least a little.
Just plowed a good eight inches here in central New York and Its still coming down. Like the new format
Nice, we ended up with about 4-5”
Hey Jake! I was wondering since you separate out kindlingwood from the scrap, do you sell it, use it or give some with your regular customers?
I offer kindling bundles to roadside stand customers but not many sell, plenty of sticks in peoples yards already 😂 I also use it and give it away to friends and family.

Thanks!
That's some awesome looking firewood coming off the splitter, wish you delivered to me in Rhode Island.
Thank you! Come pick some up in CT!
Loved the video content today! From Ohio
Thank you!
Awesome job!! I'd say good quality videos with new techniques thoughts etc 😊..
Thanks! Glad you enjoyed it
Nice video as allways 👍🇧🇻
Thank you!
I’m not a wood splitter or anything along those lines but I like ur vids 👍🏼 subscribed

We lucked out here in Kingwood Wv. Just an inch or so. Lot of rain.
Yep more rain for us tomorrow
Great video!! Like the drone shots!! I ordered a pair of Hisea about a year ago, not happy. Maybe should have bought a larger pair. Stay Hydrated and Have a Safe Day

@DudeRanchDIY you know I was thinking that after 10 min I sent that lol.
I showed a buddy your video today an he ordered the same for his
Another thing just get like four different cameras put them in different locations and just leave them for a couple hours. Make sure that they have a fob with them so you can turn the camera off on whenever it is you wanna record and not record
Agree on making a better effort on editing. Editing is like storytelling 😊
Thanks I agree
I totally agree with the time it takes drives made
Yep it can get time consuming!
Speaking of Muck cowboy boots i have a pair and OMG are they sooo comfortable have to try them out ! Maybe they will send you a pair to try :)
Guys if you want try to put up some static cameras around the splitter and wood yard. The splice it together with a voice overlay if you want more videos.
Definitely could, quality over quantity
Also it’ll get you more B roll footage that you maybe able to use. Just have to get extra camera mounts that you can leave and then hang the camera.
Is a mixture a boast is great
I’m new to your channel but love the videos. Have you considered getting a saw mill and making your own lumber to build a nice wood shed?
Welcome to the channel! Yes I’d love to get a sawmill at some point, mini excavator first though!
Chris , Jake.... check the air pressure in your splitter tires... looks like it's either sinking in the dirt or loosing pressure.... Lotta weight, shakin and weather changes going on..
Yeah I noticed that while filming this, turns out it was just a buildup of dirt and debris from the splitter
No snow, but we're getting -30 to -40 without windchill for the next couple of days
That’s frigid

I’d love a kiln but I’d need to run power out to the yard
👍Quality over quantity.👍
Thanks Ed I agree!
I am 30 minutes from Danbury CT. Joe The Grower
Nice! Danbury isn’t far
Box and vertical splitters are slow as they require multiple hydraulic strokes to split one round and box splitters seem to produce more scrap.
The consistent size and quality of the wood and lack of effort required to split with a box wedge far outweighs the increased scrap for my operation.
You need a larger cutting shelter
Yeah I’d love if it was larger. I was limited to the size of the telephone poles I had access to
Great video. Where were Chris’s safety glasses when cutting. He should know better.
Thanks, they certainly weren’t on his face.
Efficient operation.
Thank you

Yep “keep it simple stupid”!
Looking good. Do you live in a beautiful area? I sent you a text
Nice talking Jack, good idea!
Absolute BUT tonne of off cuts
Yep the box wedge does make some scrap!
