Thank you Linkus for these daily stream videos! I’m a busy person and I love tuning in when I can but I appreciate the ability to catch up on what I’ve missed with these videos!
As far as a business perspective goes that dude is smart. got the sale and you got a cool story youre likely to share with buddies who are local and willing to support the place! make sure to keep them around linkus, games stores like that are something we take for granted.
i can relate to not finding games translated in your language as a kid! when i was like 7 years old i played a Final Fantasy spin off game on the Wii, called Crystal Bearers. there was no Italian translation. the characters kept saying the word "crystal" in the cutscenes, and it was basically the only recognizable word for me in what sounded like gibberish, and i automatically thought "cryst..? ah yes, they must be saying Christopher! the protagonist is named Christopher, then". found out years later that his name is Layle😭
my older sisters had to deal with this much more than me though. they loved survival horror games, but could always only find them in other languages, back then. i don't even know how they managed to solve some riddles!
1:25 - 2:24 Bro says he hasn't done a run in 2 weeks, then proceeds to get unbuffered manual ss Then does perfect line on windfall to get to splosh kaboom while telling a story to chat Muscle memory king
I never thought I would see linkus and Wirtual on the same video and with the "I'm a r4cist" I totally understand the feeling of messing up on a language that's not your native one. In my case I speak Spanish most of the time and have been speaking English for 7 years and still have some mistakes on the context
also your dad live translating the text in paper Mario to you and your brother is just so peepoCute and the trackmania clip had me laughing so hard I was wheezing I nearly choked on my water lol 4:40 too funny
I can relate to the language thing. As a kid I beat a bunch of Gameboy and N64 games without understanding a single word of English. My method was to literally walk around everywhere for hours on end, until I just happened to stumble into what I needed to do next. OoT took me several weeks to complete, because I had no idea where to go at any point.
Oh hey, same! No Spanish translations at all when I was a kid and didn't understand English. In my case, a cousin sat with me through Pokémon Red on my tiny GBC screen translating everything.
These videos are so good lately Linkus. I am just a normie TH-cam enjoyer but I feel just as anxious as chat every trick I am like dang this run sucks lol it's so difficult! Nothing like having to play perfect
I'm also Swedish but by the time I bought my Gamecube, which was my first console, I was 12 so I had a decent enough understanding of English to get by. Before then I would play PC games, but those were mostly either in Swedish or were things like SimCity or Star Wars Rouge Squadron which didn't really require much English skill to just fool around in.
my first ever game was ocarina of time on a nintendo 64 my dad bought when he was like 17 or something. thing is because i couldnt read english i was stuck for 3 months running around hyrule as child link because i couldnt find ruto's letter. 3 whole months
Can we get a Wirtual, linkus collab tho? Like that would be so amazing just letting wirtual play windwaker and linkus fails in the ground floor deep dip 2 xD
I did the same thing with Animal Crossing: New Horizon. I reserved a physical copy from GameStop months before release and it just so happened that my US state was shutting down all "non-essential businesses" that week due to Covid (March of 2020) So I called them up the evening before and sure enough, they were going to be closing the day of launch and the guy was all "Can you make it here in 10 minutes? I'll let you get your copy tonight" That night I played Animal Crossing before anyone else.
Tbh Linkus's dad sitting with him and his brother to live translate Paper Mario is super wholesome. 👌
