You could have stretched your descent to save energy. Also, a certain speed will increase your flight time. Dji might actually have it at 28.8 km hr. I go above that. Battery dies faster. Would be an interesting experiment to figure what speed gets you the furthest distance.

Our peaks aren’t nearly as majestic as yours so I’ve never had to push my Moz that far but good to know what it’s capable of. What are the drone laws like in Switzerland? No line-of-sight rules? My sister actually lives in Zurich but I haven’t been since I started flying FPV.

absolute madness, more luck than brain 😀 But I know the feeling of "just a little tiny bit further..." also the spot is challenging for transmission... anyhow you made it... and the vid was exciting, I just recently couldn't bring my drone home, and had to land in rough terrain due to wind which drained my battery on the way back. The Video is in my already way to long "to be edited" list 😀 But It seems the lion really holds a bit better at the end, I never 100% tested my lion, but the lipo I used for this flight just died after 3.1 volts... quite stable till 3.1, but then it dropped within 30-45 seconds (total flight time was 11 minutes) from 3.1 to 2.7 and with 2.7 I had no thrust whatsoever left.

Great flight. I don't know if you use standard propeller 7.5x3.7x3 For slow long range flight, higher pitch propeller helps. Same motor rpm, higher pitch gain more speed, save time. Already test my 5inch to 7inch quad.

Da man Li-Ion Batterien normalerweise safe auf bis zu 2,5 Volt entladen darf, warst Du ja bei der Landung noch durchaus im sicheren Bereich, auch wenn man von einer echten Reserve nicht wirklich sprechen kann. Im Prinzip hättest Du ja zur Not auch, falls es deiner Meinung nicht gepasst hätte, beim Rückweg unten am Seeufer gegenüber vom Startplatz relativ sicher außenlanden können. Wobei man sich in so einem Fall einen Platz suchen sollte, der nicht so offensichtlich von überall einsehbar ist. Ansonsten hast Du doch alles richtig gemacht. Auch den kontinuierlichen Höhenabbau über dem See, um Strom zu sparen.
Awesome! I just purchased that same drone and battery combination, so that was a fantastic introduction to what is possible! What did your average cell voltage recover to after you landed? GEPRC states the minimum voltage is 2.5v for those cells, so that was very well timed! Good to see also that the DJI video link stayed relatively consistent the entire time. I’m going to put in a ELRS diversity receiver along with a Super G module in my Radiomaster Boxer for optimal control link since I fly in very rough terrain here. Thanks so much for the great video!

no, the battery was full. Li-ion batteries differ from lipos. At the beginning, Li-ion batteries draw a lot of volts (that's why it was just at 3.7 volts) but can then go down to 2.5 volts...

Water is so stressful… I have a few mountains across the fjord here in Norway, but have never attempted them simply because the returning over water is a gamble. At least over ground you can potentially hike to it, though I’ve lost two drones in the last six months… 🤦🏽♂️ I’ve been mountain surfing for 4-5years, but new to DJI. How do you record OSD elements? Or does it happen automatically with O3 setup?

I'm very interested in long range FPV, but sadly all the rules and limitations are putting me off... and being able to fly for only a few meters with so many restrictions doesn't sound so exciting. thank you, that's the thing with the laws. You have to fly in Vlos. But I always think that if you don't fly stupidly and you fly carefully, you can still do it. And I stick to the other laws, like max. 120 meters above ground and 150 meters away from villages... when I fly long range, always in the mountains where less can happen...
Strong wind, hanging at the top of mountain at 3.1v 🙈 If I were you, I would not have flown straight over water, I would go along the road just in case battery dies
Why not 4k? Also that O3 is suffering so much vibrations and the drone is tilted on right. Also the footage from the camera is full of jello effect, anyway good video.
A few issues here. 1. tested gps rescue over water 2. the pitch on the propellers was too light, you can hear the motors working hard but drone struggling to climb. you can see the high amp draw and high throttle in the display. Didn't account for air density at that altitude. 3. used over 50% of battery capacity to reach the peak, still loitering around the area, a quick mental calculation will tell there's not enough to return, not even considering voltage sag from a 50% drained battery. 4. DJI controller for long range 🤦♂

Thats from the same battery. 2.8V is per cell and 16.8 for all cells...

The jello is a problem with this frame. But it was really windy (60-80 km/h) there.

@@NicoMoessmer its a li ion battery. thery are perfect for long range, beacause they can go down to 2.5 V per cell

A few issues here.
1. tested gps rescue over water
2. the pitch on the propellers was too light, you can hear the motors working hard but drone struggling to climb. you can see the high amp draw and high throttle in the display. Didn't account for air density at that altitude.
3. used over 50% of battery capacity to reach the peak, still loitering around the area, a quick mental calculation will tell there's not enough to return, not even considering voltage sag from a 50% drained battery.

@@levin7993 Try repeating it few times and see if the same result. Would you choose DJI over Tbs xfire or elrs?
I am new to fpv and whenever I see battery cell voltage drop below 3.5v, I get tensed even when the quad is like only 100 meters away 😂
:) But be careful: Lipos should not go much below 3.5 volts. Here I used a Li-ion battery. they can go down to 2.5 volts.

Lustig, bin grad an einem sehr ähnlichen video, war auch eine sehr knappe kiste, hatte grad noch 2.5v vor landung. Du hast das besser gemacht u nerven behalten, hab eher gas gegeben u bin mit 70-90 heimgebrettert

@@swissfpvshots makes sense, I have the goggles 3 and RC 3 with a 5 inch, but don't want to try and go far, because the way the radio talks to the goggles, if I lose my signal, I can't just punch out after, I need to setup rth
