When I was painting once I said he wasn't to touch frame so he walked perfectly through middle of doorway. He knew when I was returning home no matter what time or direction. He protected our childcare with Down's and it was heartbreaking when he left.
@@cianredmond3377 No I would say they go at your pace of life. A neighbour got one recently because of what I'd said about ours and she usually prefers another breed. She hasn't stopped telling me how right I was and how intuitive the dog has been.
I miss my Rough Collie who passed away at age twelve from kidney failure in 2008. Though he was stubborn he was very intelligent, loyal, faithful and had a magnificent coat that always got compliments from strangers. RIP Barney my good buddy.
Brought back all the love ❤️ from over 30 years ago! Our collie was absolutely the centre of the family ,the focus; no love existed except through her! We trained her off the lead; she would carry the lead in her mouth and would never cross the road even if there was another dog about! Once or twice she got out but we knew she would be okay and would stay on the pavement (sidewalk in your country!) My memory of her nature and her markings faded a bit; later we had 2 standard poodles with their huge clumsy paws 🐾 so ‘Amber’ seems to have stayed in the background watching from another place, still in charge, and that’s as it should be I guess!
My Rough Collie is amazing until she see something moving she is interested in chasing. The are a very mellow and will follow you everyplace. This they are a most underrated dog. Rough Collie definitely like to be in charge and run everything from the background.
I love your channel and have learned so much from you and the the dogs. I just got a male tri color rough collie on Valentines Day and he is super cute. We have a daily grooming routine in the morning right after his breakfast. He is very good with the grooming, he chews on a bone and allows me to groom as long as necessary. He loves his walks and especially loves to play in the snow. He also loves to takes naps and work on his beauty sleep just like Sakura. Thanks for sharing such a great channel that is both fun to watch and also very informative.
Rough Collie yeah... throw the ball... perhabs you´ve got the luck she/he brings it back - and perhabs only the half way and then be totally desinterested and does other things... The Collie thinks... "Yes man, if you want have fun with balls or so... i don´t stop you... but do it on your own".... looooool

Sounds like our dogs are related. Super embarrassing when you go to the dog park and someone offers your dog a treat and they spit it out. My vet thought the reason that she did not eat in the morning was upset stomach, too much water at night or something. Vet suggested Pepto Bismal about an hour before breakfast, she just spit that out too. 8 Months things will finally be settling down finally. From 3-6 months our rough collie was a handful, I still remember how hard it was.
@@DogThecity Hmm, had wondered if it's just my collie with a breakfast aversion thing - it's been a long, trial and error process to find anything she'll eat in the morning. Interesting your vet recommended Pepto -- mine recommended Pepcid, which tucked in a pill pocket, she'd eat and it helped somewhat to settle her stomach to then eat something. Super picky with treats also -- which is what I always end-up explaining when she rejects a treat that's been offered.... And the barking ... but we love them anyway! Sakura is a beauty.
@@DogThecity I didn't think it could be cos of an upset stomach! I'm not sure if pepto bismal is available in my country, I'll ask my vet about it. Thank you for the tip! He's still completely nuts, but he's started having the occasional moments of calm. I'm just glad the biting phase is over (minus the odd herding nip)

Good that youtube have a button to slow down the talk so i can keep up 😄 yeah lot of grooming more then with a spitz. (I dont hair dry him he shakes of most of the water, of course he nead a towel rub.) You do great food for the dogs it looks like a meal for a human. Do your dogs eat any dogfood? My spitz loves cooked chicken,but iam so bad to make a hole meal because he dont eat veggies if its not any sause with it and i dont want to give him spicy food so he eat sometimes dogfood its ok sometimes. So if you like tell us more about what kind of meals do you give them.
We are sort of doing a mix of things with feeding. 80% dry dog food for the Sheltie as she is on a diet. The Rough Collie would be 80% Proteins, 20% vegetables and dry food. Our Rough Collie is a very picky eater. Eventually if they get hungry enough they will eat anything. Red Meat is a favorite, everything else is tolerated. We use a lot of Boiled chicken which is stable for the stomach. Pumpkin can help with stomach issues.
Yes and yes. We learned everything from TH-cam for the most part. We picked up a lot from being at dog shows and asking other handlers. The main thing is consistency; frequent washing and brushing multiple times a week. Keeping that beautiful coat under control is the main thing. We do more than we need to but we are planning on still doing a dog show here and there.
