- Look I made a video! Dedication. This is a montage of some of the more unusual skills and combinations that I like, some are unique to one gymnast, some have been performed by a small handful over the years.
I love it when they're flipping forward and then all of a sudden they flip backward or vice versa, it looks so impressive
The stalder forward Jaeger at 0:55 is amazing.
I wish there were more original and beautiful performances like this. It tends to get more and technique and strength at the expense of esthetics
I totally agree. I've seen some balance beam routines where I'm just like how the hell do they even stay on the beam doing that?? Yet they're not considered difficult skills. I'd rather see elegance and beauty instead of an emphasis on technical difficulty
You do know that most of these are some of the most difficult elements/connections in the code of points, and that good technique is... a good thing? You’re saying you want skills done poorly with risky technique?

I have been watching gymnastics since 1968 when I can remember the Olympics, then 72 , 76, etc , the gymnasts of now do not make me want to watch anymore, for me personally the best has been already , not their fault in any way I know they to follow guidelines etc , but boy weren’t they incredible back then ❤
0:06 I adore Nabieva's layout Tkachev. She does it with such a completely laid out body shape and it's one of my favourite releases (along with the piked Jaeger, Def salto, and Counter Kim). A thing I want to see someone do is a piked Jaeger with half twist (a piked Li Ya salto).

Apart from that I like the whip with half twist to double front - an inventive way to gain momentum to a forward rotating skill 👍

OMG, i didn’t even know some of these skills existed. Good job on trying to find them. Oh and by the way, no offence, but the Simone Biles trick isn’t exactly like we’ve never seen it lol, she does it all the time, she’s amazing.
I saw plenty of unusual gymnastics here. But nothing unique. Uniqueness is not a spectrum
