I find it suits the plants to talk to them as I harvest. Its also good to sing while you cook. It sounds strange but it its mindfulness and intention of a positive type. Instead of gimmie gimmie, its thanks and look what we made!
I talk to the wildlife and they all come around… mice, squirrels, chipmunks, birds, butterflies, dragonflies, deer… my friend asked if I was Snow White or what?! I talk to everything! LoL
Plantain may have saved my life a few weeks ago due to bee sting (deathly allergic).. Stung while picking blackberries about a mile away from my truck. Plantain reversed all swelling and calmed heart palpitations. May have stopped anaphylactic shock.
Thank you. My partner cut his finger to the bone...applied poultice, just chewed leaves and then applied...miraculous!! If he had gone to hospital, no doubt, he would have had stitches!
Large areas of skin on my legs and arms were injured and burned. For the last month or month and a half I have put up with severe reaction to mites, which I’ve had off and on over the last 20 years. Yesterday and today I tried plantain, the swelling is gone and the redness is gone, the lesions are closing up! Thrilled to find this fantastic plant. Great video
I made a concoction of lance leaf plantain and avacado and put that on my face and neck. It feels invigorating and cool - a wonder on these >100 degree summer days. Thank you for your wisdom, Sergei! ❤
Y'all can mix it with beeswax and oil and make it into something that should last. . We have had a terrible drought in NC so everything is dying. So i started picking ours in the yard and drying it out an using it. Obviously nothing is better than fresh but it still works an it does help alot.
Wonderful video as always. Plantain grows all over South Africa as well. I have always had some in my garden and if I happen to run out I intentionally pick wild seeds pods and plant them. I add the younger tender greens to spinach when I cook it and also the tender immature seed pods . I try to incorporate wild edibles into each meal in some form. My current favourite is a wild mustard pesto of sorts . Wild mustard leaves and flowers with fresh garlic, lemon juice, salt, olive oil and either cashew nuts or flaxseed. Flaxseeds actually keep the peso beautifully emulsified and tastes great. Much love and be blessed 🙏.
Plantain salve is great. Kept 2 severe lacerations from scaring besides keeping it from getting infected, pain reliever also. I used avocado oil. Its still good 1 1/2 years later. I used a regular salve recipe.
I found plantain in my grass so i teplanted ot on my flower bed and its doing really well, i aldi have brosd leaf growing on the green outside so im going to do the same, hopefully next year ill have enough to make for these remidies, especially for my wrinkles lol!!! Thank you. I also heard you can make a plaintain salve with oil, bees wax and shae butter, something to try ❤😊
Lavander oil is good for treating burns, stings & bites. Also smelling it can help with nausea, headaches, spots & stress. Many people also use it for toothache but you must not swallow any Lavander oil.
I keep a bottle of vinegar in my kitchen and use it for dishwasher rinse, AND for burns. If I get it on my stove burn immediately, it won't blister! Multiple options for the same thing, right?
Yes I dry plantain all the time. I make a tea out of it. It is more than for your skin. Breaks up phlegm from a chest cold. I’ve made a salve from melted beeswax and plantain infused oil and a drop of citronella essential oil.
Hello from Detroit Michigan great video brother thank you for your knowledge and expertise question could you dehydrate the plantain and rehydrated later and wouldn't have the same effect
Thanks for the feedback! Good question about drying plantain. I have no idea if that would work? I’ve never thought to try it but you might have just inspired me. If I put it in a video, I’ll give you credit for the idea. 😜
A wintu Indian turned me on to plantain and also show a group of us how to make a poison oak remedy using acorn, plantain, crushed oregon grape root and another wild plant that i forgot. Would love a video on some simple remedies maybe a video that has a shampoo and soap concoction toothpaste alternative?
Great video! Thanks! Can you do it with dried leaves? I don't have access to grow or find the living plant. I really want to make a salve with plantain. I made an extract today. Could I use that with coconut oil or grape seed oil and beeswax? I'm new at this so I don't know the measurements of the ingredients. Please help me? 💖
My mother makes salve, soap , lotion, and chap stick with bee's wax. My favorite is the salve makes from plantain and jewels weed. I works wonders for bites and burns even rashes and cuts. Stops the itchiness and heals sores so good there isn't any scars
Sergei, what do you say about the Vitamix vs a masticating blender (BlendTec)? That vitamix (the best in my opinion) causes the plants to oxidize very quickly vs a masticating blender??? Thank you.
Make a tincture it works just as well I used 80% proof vodka with plantain and let it soak for months then I strained it into a jar, as long as you don’t add water it will not expire for years. I got stung last year as the wasp attacked my face never saw it coming as I accidentally disturbed their nest luckily only one got me on my nose drawing blood I ran inside dapped the tincture on, the minute it touched my nose the pain was gone no swelling and continue my yard work forgetting it ever happened this really works I also made plantain oil where it will expire depending on the oil you use as long as no water is mixed your ok if you add water you must use a preservative. I hope this helps
@@BoutenkoFilms other homesteaders are extracting the goodness from it with oil then blending with bees wax to make long-lasting salves, shelf stable for months.
Thank You Sergei, love your videos! Was wondering if you could make this and put it in like an ice cube tray and freeze it?? For a longer shelf life to use in the winter months when you can’t get any plantain. Or perhaps dehydrate the plantains?

Highly likely if it draws out the poison!❤ Thank GOD
I love Plantain, it works FOR REAL, I have both by my house but I use Major, I have a oil extraction going on with Plantain in my closet ❤❤❤

I'm so sad I just wasted a bunch because I didn't know what to do with it. Thank you so much for recipe, it's still growing like crazy.

the very best salve i have experienced for burns that also stop the pain almost instantly is lavender and st.johnswort
Our yard is basically more narrow leaf plantain than grass we have all sorts of wild edibles growing here in the mountains of Virginia
Thanks Sergei, I have been wondering how to power my vitamix while touring around. Thanks also for the anti-wrinkle formula as well. Great video.
I've made the salve and added tree tea oil and its great for bee stings, scrapes, relief for bug bites and jiggers

🙏🏽💖great presentation and method. I have used plantain leaves as a bandage on small cuts and it heals them quickly

I wasn't sure if I had ever seen this until u showed the husk. Grows wild in fields. Grew up around this stuff and never even knew its benefits.
I am loving your videos and that your older videos are still good info. Cheers!

Love your videos brother keep up the amazing work! 🤙🏼❤️
Oh, yeah👍 My grands (5&7) know how to do this also (from watching me chew and apply plantain to MY bites😅)
I wonder if adding a little vitamin E would extend the shelf life a few more days.
Plantain is very useful, but I always have Aloe Vera gel in a small container, its the best easy remedy for burns if you cant cool it down with water

I would love to have the recipe of how your mum makes the salve, soap, lotion and chap stick please. Thx in advance
I want to give this a try and see if it is still as good as fresh plantain.
I grow it. Freeze dry and vacuum seal it for use anytime.

Indigenous people used plantain to clear mucus, you could also use this poultice on the chest area to break up or help dry phlegm in the lungs.
Once you make your paste, couldn't you freeze it, so you can have it also in the winter months?
Plantain tastes Nice on a cheese sandwich finely chopped like you would do with parsley
There is more than one variety of plantain. Is one better than the other for poultices, salves, etc.?
Eat them also . They are good fried in bacon grease and onion over rice 🍚!
Could you put it in an ice tray and freeze it, and then use as needed?
How do u store this....cabinet...frig?
Would this work for poison ivy or other rashes?
Is it good for rosacea?
I am trying it praying it works for eczema
Can u freeze it?
I was wondering the same thing. Maybe in a ice cube form thingy - I think, I will just try it :)
Yes. In several different ways. Or can be stored in alcohol or olive oil.
Could you infuse this in oil to last longer? Ie. So not as effective but could to keep in the medicine cabinet?

It lasts for years as a tincture and works great on fire ants and bee and wasp stings and really most insect bites.
I do exactly this. Like you say, it is not as potent but has a much longer shelf life.
After you make the remedy can you store it. Does it have a shelf life.
3-4 days refrigerated. Unfortunately/ fortunately fresh and wild greens are extremely perishable. 😜
Can you make it and freeze it in ice trays

You can do BOTH ❤
Plantain leaves are around all year, unless they are under deep snow maybe.
If you blend with vodka… and liquid vitamin e and vitamin c… and whatever essential oil you love … lasts indefinitely.

Could u use a rock to smash it up instead of chewing
Has anybody tried freezing this??
just watched your video, my daughter just text me she got a bite at a big box store, going over with a mouth of plantain
