The Worst N64 Console Mod

- The Nintendo 64 is a notoriously hard console to emulate and get good picture quality out of. There’s not many alternatives either, outside of original hardware. So when the Warrior 64 was announced as a better option for playing N64 games, people were excited. However, this excitement wouldn’t last for long.

And Nintendo has the AUDACITY to say that downloading 40 year old ROMs is piracy.
Well you are downloading someone else's work for free so yeah it is piracy. If it's a copy of the game you need for back-up then it is not piracy.
It's piracy but idc lol
@@VOANthe people who made that work aren't making any money from it anymore the only people benefiting from it now are the executives and investors.
@@VOAN inaccessible and unsold content. abandonware cannot be pirated.
It is piracy though.
The original N64 can do S-Video. It uses the same exact plugin that the Super NES and GameCube uses. 😁
I use S-Video for my 64 alongside a Retrotink 5x Pro! Definitely looks better than composite, but I regret not getting some heavy duty RGB scart or component cables instead. But that's just me being picky.
Analogue N64 is coming FPGA hardware in 4K gonna be 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Missed opportunity for a loop there
Good.
The issue with N64 is that the controller was designed by a man for his octopus lover, and everything else was made to be used with human hands instead of octopus man hybrids.
Disagree hardcore.
Haha well the trident is actually usefull because you can have your finger close to either the d-pad or the joystick. I think there's no games either where you have to use both. But I like the joke 😂
@@TheDsgfdssd no it wasn’t. PlayStation did that after the fact. It was up against the joystickless original ps controller.
I don't see why people don't understand the controller.
@jordanronayne7867 Not having a single way to hold the controller is bad
....At least the shell looks cool.
N64 is incredibly easy to emulate these days. What are you talking about? lol
Maybe he's trying to run it on his phone. 💀
@@freeuploads4290 Or a toaster. Even modern iPhones run it near flawlessly.
i think maybe they're talking about like the sort of purist thing where they're looking for flawless emulation, but yeah, like i play N64 games on a handheld just fine?
a raspberry pi is more than enough to run it on a standard monitor without sacrificing anything in terms of quality, it's not hard to get a good N64 emulation, hell, even the nintendo switch online emulator works perfectly fine.
i am pleased to share that we are like over a decade past the initial growing pains of N64 emulation, now anyone can play SM64 on their smart fridge just fine.
it would be fun to have a modern analogue N64 instead of just doing software emulation, but for right now, the emulators work just fine!
Right? It’s like he’s making this video based on information available in 2012 lol. n 64 emulation is flawless nowadays.
N64 is easy to emulate, but not without flaws, as I don't think any emulator can quite replicate N64's texture filters perfectly, and that might be what he was talking about, idk
Just play it on a CRT TV 📺
What if you didn't have one of those?
@notaurorahimmelwithlightystar . You'll just buy one.
@@repoversemedium ... Ebay $39.90 13inch screen
Nope
Whenever I get one my mum throws it out immediately when it shows any sign of malfunctioning because it's a "fire hazard" lmao
What really sucked was they had the chance to make an injection moulded case that was smaller (look up the N64 Jr) or flat so that you could set your controller on top of it, and they just made a similar shape to the original but low poly 🤦♂️
The issue is with aftermarket consoles is they just dump the rom and play it in an emulator so therefore if it can’t be reliably emulated then no one is going to make aftermarket consoles.
The thing is that for the amount you'd have to pay for one of these with good parts it would be too expensive and not worth it. The mod kits themselves are not cheap, nor is the labor. Trust me when I say I'd kill to have a modern N64 come out but there's no way I'm paying $200+ just for slightly better picture. I grew up with DOS games and VHS tapes, I can handle a blurry screen.
Untrue! There’s now a MISTER N64 port working almost perfectly
Mister is not emulation
@@WillParker322erm. Ok :-)
MiSTer also isn’t an N64…
I’ll leave you to figure out the correct adjective
Well I'm pretty happy with playing N64 games on my switch. Yeah it cost a yearly subscription but it comes with more than just 1064 there's also GBA and Genesis. I do wish they would add more games to the catalog like faster but they do add more games including games I actually hadn't played originally even back then
Emulators do not notoriously have a hard time with N64. I’ve been playing my roms since 20 years ago with little to no issues. Integrated graphics on most PCs run N64 emulators really well now. And this is coming from someone that grew up with the console. Been playing some old games I love on my new retroid pocket 4 pro.
It’s a shame that Nintendo is ludicrously hostile and anti-consumer regarding their own history and ease of legitimate access. Nintendo could easily make a small fortune working with third parties to produce more functional mini consoles instead of forcing players to abandon their favorite classic games.
Analog made one using high end hardware where you can play N64 games in 4K with 60fps. These are the same guys behind the famous Gameboy retro console called the Analog Pocket.
What are you talking about? Ive never had a single problem running N64 games on emulation. 🤨
Im perfectly happy with my Composite output and my CRT, the only way to play 80s/90s/00s games, although i know not alot of people have that benefit anymore
Idk man, the emulator I used to play Conker's Bad Fur Day on had no visible issues from what I could see
Analogue is making an n64 fpga console.
I was playing mario 64 on my phone at school 8 years ago and for me it was working fine.idk if all games work ok but saying emulators "notoriously" have a hard time seems a bit of a stretch
I would love to just have the shell and install a better upscaler.
Emulators do not struggle with the system. I had a windows 98 computer that handles it just fine
And that's the reason why I still play my old-school games on my old-school 📺 set!
As a channel who makes lots of 64 content. I believe what we’ve wanted is coming with the Analogue, but also we have a good alternative already here with the Polymega Ultra…
This whole video premise is stupid. The warrior 64 wasn't a new production run of n64 hardware, it was a new case with harvested n64 internals inside.
If you have an OG n64 and want him but a retrotink they are great
i recently picked up rayman 2 because for me playing n64 games with a modern controller is just awful. luckily i already had an n64 and some games from when my mom was a teenager
Playing N64 games with a N64 controller now is just awful. Virtual Console ftw.
Never grew up with one, but loving the VC and emulators on my modded Wii.
Polymega now has an N64 adapter
Emulation is nearly 30 years old and nearly perfect. Wtf are you talking about
Analogue 3d is in the making
No, N64 can output in way better resolution with Scart cable.
I just bought 2 n64 USB controllers for my dope ass pc. Emulators are the way a.i. upscaling etc got the reshades with the gorgeous rtx even if I want....total cost 20$
Odin 2 emulates n64 fine but I haven't tried to output it to a larger screen yet
It also outputs S-Video.
Emulators and free games are ✨✨✨✨
What good is hdmi if the games are low resolution??? They look better on a tube tv
Mister FPGA has a very good N64 core
The n64 is notoriously easy to emulate lol
N64 emulator on my phone runs fine
I ordered the V2 version after watching your video just to see if it was any better. I’ll let you know
I still have my 64 and t works lol
No cap my roms run great
The switch u can play all those games
I guess that's true.
Switch U? Don’t give Nintendo ideas 😂
yeah, but you don't own any of them
Just… play normally?
Um look up analogue
Does Analogue have an N64 console?
@@pojr not yet but u can run it on analogue pocket system I believe and dock it on to a tv
False...
If you having trouble emulating n64 games you need a job 🤣
