    It’s always very satisfying to see actual sewists do thrift flips ! Not only for the satisfaction of a flip well done but for guidance for us amateurs!

    With the first skirt and it's waist band, it may be easier to sew all the channels first, leaving a gap for each in the same place. Then thread elastic in each band, sew shut. It'll be easier than sewing it separately.

    Someone probably already told you this but the waistband on the skirt is most likely just one wide peice of elastic that has been topstiched. What is amazing about sewing though is that your method worked just as well, and is perfect if you don't have a winder elastic. Great work!

    • @RoseryApparel
      @RoseryApparel  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I could definitely feel three seperate pieces of elastic in my original skirt, but I love the wide elastic idea and will have to give it a try! Thanks!

    I think it is easier to stitch all tree rows of casing BEFORE threading elastic into them. It works better when flat. But great results for your thrift flips ! Love them!

    Another easy way to achieve the fake smocked waist band is to put in a wide piece of elastic and then stretch the waisband and sew the lines overtop. I had a skirt pattern that used that technique and it's pretty beginner friendly

      🤔 Thought that 👵 granny gown had a remarkably charming yoke with such vintage flair👍. Overall, still strongly felt that the garment was pretty darn hideous and beyond saving 😨.
      Janelle, however looks absolutely 💥darling💥 in her updated playsuit with the 🌻petite prairie floral pattern. ♀️ It's feminine, but the sporty fresh style🏸 keeps it from being "too precious."
      Those cap sleeves and matching sash were super ⚡finishing⚡ details. Without a doubt, this transformation truly went from
      🗑trash to treasure💲.
      😉 So, dratted unfair too. Know I would look absolutely absurd
      AF 😵 in that style. 🦋

    I must say, that waistband was creative, although not the way those are done. Those types of waistband are done by inserting a wide elastic and then fixing them in place with a couple of rows of stitches, that's why it looks like a bunch of little casings, but is just one elastic.
    Love the results tho! ❤️

    Both of them looked so amazing! I can't choose either because both made good use of the existing fabrics and turned out sooo beautiful! I actually bought a striped, green and white fabric a while back without knowing what I would make from it; I bought it simply because I liked the feel of the fabric. Now seeing how beautiful your striped skirt turned out, I think that I'll make a skirt out of it too!
    Also, I just wanted to add that the dress you made with the wheat-colored (?) fabric from the fabric store - the dress you're wearing at the beginning of the video - turned out so beautiful as well!
