I came across the Dave Brubeck quartet in 1960 whilst at University. It was the musical focus and knot that tied 5 of us together. I bought his LPs and never wore them out no matter how often played.
The piece is sometimes incorrectly assumed to be based on the Mozart composition "Rondo alla Turca." In 2003, during an interview, Dave Brubeck commented that "I should've just called it 'Blue Rondo', because the title just seemed to confuse people.
It's the Final Fantasy 7 battle music you're thinking of. I want to say Uematsu was influenced by this, but some parts are just lifted straight from it.
Apprezzo moltissimo sia l'originale di Dave BRUBECK sia la rilettura dei NICE e degli EL&P ,ma anche quella delle ORME è davvero interessante !!!! Comunque come la si voglia pensare ,questa è grande MUSICA !!!!

Love to hear Al Jarreau’s vocal combined with this!! Musically aware of the time/arrangement difference. ..Just a thought 🎶
Al Jarreau did this ... as well as Take Five.
I love his vocals, but also love these recordings pure without the vocals.
9/8
Teşekkürler :) 9/8
Hikayesi nedir parçanın biliyor musun ?

9/8 then alternating 9/8 and 4/4 continuing in 4/4 for solos, back to alternating and then to 9/8. Classic Rondo form

Does anyone know what: Blue Rondo a la Turk means??
Great video!
A rondo is a type of structure that this song is in, the a la Turk means in Turkish style - the 9/8 rhythms and accent :)
+Felix Adamson A la Turk actually means that the it is in Janissary style which is kind of a brass band of Ottomans until 18th century.

Paul Gilbert brought me here..
Raibima Putra Me too, haha! He really made me aware of this legend, just shortly before he died.
Is this supposed to have anything to do with Mozart's Rondo alla Turca? If so, I'm not hearing it...
No
does anyone know the scale the song is played? thank you

We have it everywhere in Turkey too. We even call it the "aksak ritim" which, i think, it means clunky.

This sounds *a lot* like the music that plays in the first level of Doom... Were they inspired by this? I wonder...
