This was great, working on speeding up my reading today and this one was no BS just to the point learning. Amazing when it went from 600 to 250, my mind had to take a second to slow back down to that level, when just before I was below that level in reading. I'll be watching this a few more times. Thanks Wiz.

Wow!!! I can read 600 WPM. I reckon it was 'cause the content was interesting, not just that the speed increased in stages. Plus my mind is very alert right now. (Maybe because of all these flying words at me). I reckon it's faster because you don't move your eyes to see the next word. It just stays at one point, like you do watching a movie.

I was always interested in speed reading but lost interest when I practiced, this does a good thing in that it allows the reader to experience reading and comprehension at 600wpm. The experience validates the possibility of such a thing. Wonderful video, I wish all digital text had the option to be speed read in the same manner presented here, one word at a time at a chosen speed.

Tip: dont sound the words out in your head. That slows you down, when you look at the sky do you say, "Blue" in your head. No. You see it and know it. The same thing is true of words. You dont have to sound out the words to extract a meaning.

I do have a question for you or perhaps anyone: I noticed that at even at higher speeds i was sub-vocalizing and was able to process the information and when i relaxed and tried to not sub-vocalize I didn't comprehend the information as well. Very nice video.
I made it to 600 too but things got a little out of hand, though this is the first time I have done this.
The brain is wired to find patterns, pieces of information that make sense and may be relevant to each other. Reading at such high speeds just flashes words that the brain tries to halt, or slow, so it can satisfy its need for understanding.
When 600 wpm comes into play, any words that are interesting immediately detract the attention break focus, and derail you. good fun

Last week I walked into a lobby, I picked up a magazine and found an interesting
Article,,about 3 pages , read them in about 3 min.
I placed the magazine back, my uncle asked me what was it that I was reading?
I told him,,,he questioned me if I had just looked at the pics..
I took a speedreading course years ago, I forgot my word speed rate
But I know that the eye ability to absorb is infinite,,,
I'll take it to the next level
Problem is I love my job, im just a concrete finisher
I dont need to read fast at work...
But reading is my passion, and if I could read a whole page
    In seconds......that would be something

You can try Reasy, it's an addon for firefox about speedreading. This video only shows 1 word eachtime, but on Reasy you can choose to see more words at the same time. I would suggested that you try to increase the amount of words being shown at the same time and sub-vocalizing the most important words within those words that is being shown. I read 7 words at the same time , i sub-vocalize the important words and don't sub-vocalizice with less important words.

first of all I am pretty dizzy right now, and I think it was the video.
I just thought it was interesting that at around 350 I wasn't able to keep up with what the screen displayed. However, as soon as Susan and Bill's story showed up, I was able to read and basically comprehend what was being shown to me.
I didn't care about what the writer wrote before this, but since this story hooked me, my comprehension went up.

this method is actually terrible for speedreading books cause it trains you in focussing on individual words, which is really not what you want to be doing.

At 500 I could say the words in my head quickly, at 550 i could see all the words and could easily stop and recite the words I just read, at 600 I could only catch a glance at every 4 in 5 words or so but I could still tell what was going on in the text. I feel proud if 100 is average

  • @Tidwell2161h
    @Tidwell2161h 11 ปีที่แล้ว

I couldn't read 500 itself, but my normal WPM was in the 450-460 range already. All you have to do is let your eyes unfocus a bit and they'll pick up all the words.

This is great and all but I think some of the secret to this video is resizing of words as well as our eyes don't have to move in typical ways of reading; just wait for the next word. Fun exercise!

  • @name-c1m
    @name-c1m 5 ปีที่แล้ว

After reading at 600 WPM (I actually did it) 250 felt so easy.
Reading like that is easier than normal reading because in this type you don't have to move your eyes. Normal books you have to constantly move your eyes which slows you down.

A trick that I use to read really fast is I look at the first and last letter of each word, your brain will recognize that word automatically

I just relax and only concentrate on the words on the screen. In that way, I see the words get put in order and I sort of understand it. I'm good at 550WPM but I got lost later.

This is a great exercise, but but it doesn't take into account eye movements. This is a greest exercise for breaking the reading tendency to vocalize words in your mind.

  • @chefbiggestdog

Heres the thing, you need to start all words in one place and highlight the second or third letter

I use a video speed controller allowing me to bump videos up as fast as I want. Near the end I was trying to watch it at 5x speed and It's impossible because your frame rates start to mix words together and there is no after image. The fastest I can read with 50-60% comprehension is about 1800 wpm. Listening to audiobooks I usualy listen at around 800-1200 wpm depending on the difficulty of what im hearing or who's talking.

this also works with audio, you can speed it up gradually and still understand it
Now you can watch twice as many YT videos
