I’m planning on making an oven mitt like that one for a friend moving into a new place…but I’m planning on using the back pockets of a pr of jeans as the part to put your hands in.
I just grab real pot holders from the dollar store and seam rip them and use the inside with my fabric. I rejected insubright when I saw how thin it was at Joanne and frankly weird feeling. Glad to know you use it with no problem. I've never had problems with the dollar store pot holders and oven mitts I recover. They do have to be sewn with at least 1/2 seam well away from the end or the two layers when putting the two sides together jam my machine. I also use a denim needle for them.
@@seattlerain4809insulbrite is thin because it’s meant to be used on both side of any project. So essentially 2 layers. I make lunch bags and it keeps items cold or hot for hours. Just offering, not trying to be rude. I hope you have a great day.
I love these ideas! Especially the hand warmers because they can be for a man and they can be difficult to find something for. The little device holder would be good too. Thank you so much! ❤❤❤
I am going to try the hand warmers (my hands are freezing!), the oven gloves, the apron (I think it would be perfect for the person I’m buying for this year) and the lanyards! I’m so glad I found your video!!
I love the e-reader sleeve and also the oven mitts. A couple of suggestions, a gift card for Kobo that you could slip into the sleeve would finish that one off, or how about a gift card to your dad’s favourite coffee/tea shop. I’m sure you could get one for maybe about £5.00 or less. I love a nice scone or some other small treat with a cuppa while I am reading. As far as the oven mitts go add a favourite recipe or two. Btw, I just found your channel and you have given me some ideas.
The apron was lovely I made 2 also great for crafters and artists. Love the e reader case. The reversible bag is my favourite fact quarter make. Thank you Tamlyn and Hayley
The hand warmers - microwave with a cup of water so they don't dry out and catch fire. Make sure you seal them well or bugs will live in them. Lanyard - I'd cut the tag off immediately for it being in the way, it should have been sewed the long way into the lanyard so it didn't stick out and high enough it's at the back of the neck. Just saying. Wonderful ideas. I look forward to making the zipper pouch as it stands up, as well as the lanyard and makeup wipes - only I'll make the wipes round using a a round object to trace them like a glass or something smaller. An ID pouch for the lanyard is also a good idea. Joanne has plastic with thick enough gages for that.
Just found your channel. I’m not on any social media so was wondering what are the boxes you are talking about. Love your ideas as I sew things for charity and will make some of them. I am in the UK.
Hi, thank you so much for reaching out. I run a sewing subscription box company - sending monthly curated surprise goody boxes of fabric and sewing gifts. sewhayleyjane.com
I personally wouldn’t recommend flaxseed for the handwarmers. Flaxseed have a tendency to smell fishy once they become rancid. I love all these ideas!!
I made lots of makeup remover pads last year. Important note do not put them in your washing machine unless jn a mesh bag. Your washing will not like it. And it could get expensive 😂. It was for me
Love the little hand warmers. I do larger ones but never thought to do smaller ones. I see the lanyards in my future too. Thanks
So pleased it was useful
Old ironing board covers work well too.

Insulbright is what is used to be heat resistant in pot holders.
It's such a clever fabric!
@@sharonlalli1414 I’ve used for years, never had a problem. I also use in casserole carriers to keep things warm.

Lovely ideas still relevant in 2024 I need to sew a few of these. Anne, Australia 🦘
Absolutely, I think these are all timeless
Cute gifts.

Absolutely, I struggle with the men in my family too - especially making something for them.
The lanyards are a great idea!
Thank you!
Great ideas. I sew to sell and would love some more items that are useful. I use half my proceeds to make things for charities.

Tip about Lavender: the scent from the flowers is quite different from the scent from the stems.
Oooh I'll have to try both out and see the difference
Very nice ideas.
Thank you! 😊
I'm going to make the hand warmers. 😊
Hope you enjoy
I just found your channel. Love the sewing gifts.
Great ideas!
Glad you like them!
Excellent content. Wonderful ideas.
Glad you like them!
For the bean bags, to make it even easier, just cut a rectangle ad fold it in half, one less seam to sew.
Great idea!!
I use waffle fabric for the make up remover pads thinner and dry faster
That's a great idea!
I think I just wrapped up my Christmas gifts to make list! 😂
amazing!!!

I don’t use tea towel or anything but batting and insul-brite. Always insul-brite!
It's such a cool fabric for projects like the oven mitts
Yes. Insulbright and cotton wadding 👍🏻🧵🪡
The apron was lovely I made 2 also great for crafters and artists. Love the e reader case. The reversible bag is my favourite fact quarter make. Thank you Tamlyn and Hayley
Love your vlog. I made an oven mitt after watching your tutorial. Thankyou 😊
Apron is good for speach-language teachers/ pockets for cue cards and picture cards

Yes, yes! I’m loving making some of these, and more, with the fat quarters I’ve received in my subscription boxes! 💗
That's awesome Lynn, thank you for sharing!
Those landyrds need a breakaway clip to be wearable for wearing nursing or teaching. Choking hazard during assault. You could use for keys
That's such a good tip, thank you
Absolutely
Love these ideas! Thanks for sharing!
My pleasure!

That's a great tip thank you! And absolutely, the label can be placed wherever feels best for you! Have fun sewing everything up
Hi Sew Hayley loved your creations but is there any way of getting a PDF of these please. Many thanks ❤❤❤

Great ideas!! Where do you buy the cute label you sewed on the apron?
That was from Little Rosy Cheeks
how about pattern for handles on a cast iron skillet? thank you so much!
Love that idea!!
Great ideas! Can you share where you purchased the label for the apron? Thanks!!
thank you, it was from Little Rosy Cheeks
Where did you get the cute label for the apron be strong, be happy be you?
They are from Little Rosy Cheeks
The microwave bowls are nice gifts. Do they require special batting? I have quilt batting.
Just use COTTON batting.
Use wrap n zap batting.
AND use cotton thread.
Love all the ideas! (The second camera is a bit shaky and giving some motion sickness for me, ouf)
The fat quarter fabrics for the double oven mitt are so cute!! What is the maker and name of it?
Thank you, it was a collection from Craft Cotton Co called Berry Patch
I personally wouldn’t recommend flaxseed for the handwarmers. Flaxseed have a tendency to smell fishy once they become rancid.

Thank you so much for the tip - I didn't know about that
Flaxseed oil is also highly flammable.
Velcro opening in back for safety

Yes I found that one out the hard way too... those and my daughters tiny socks all go in a mesh bag!
We can make a mesh sack part of the gift. ❤️
Doesn’t the rice or lentils smaellwhen you microwave
They have a subtle nutty smell but nothing bad. As long as they stay dry they shouldn't start to smell
