Very good video and a fun trip! We just got off a 19 night falklands, south georgia and antarctica expedition with abercromvie & kent on Ponant Le Lyrial. Capacity if 240ish, but only 93 passengers on that cruise . There were 143 crew and a 17 person expedition team. Can't imagine having nearly 500 people on that trip. We were so spoiled! We were lucky to get the drake lake :-). Great food, gorgeous ship. I am sure ypur trip was fun too. . We had numerous lectures each day and a wrap up and preview of next day in the evenings. Cost was $25k per person, included airfare, internal and international, all excursions and drinks, etc. We got to keep our amazing expedition parkas and backpacks as souveniers. A&K is EXCEPTUONAL. We also did kenya and tanzania with them. I would go anywhere in the world with them.
Karen, thank you millions! That really does mean a lot and I am over the moon that so many people are getting to enjoy this gorgeous 7th continent. I so appreciate your comment.
Going in Feb 2024. So much looking forward to it. I go out weekly with the Humpbacks on the Gold Coast when on migration up the east coast of Australia, looking forward to seeing them at home..... and all the ice and the penguins, birds, seals and hopefully other whales (Orca, Minkey, which only rarely get up our way). Didn't expect to find such a high quality video. Well done!
How kind to say my video was high quality! I am an amateur so I did my best. I just wanted to share Antarctica with the world. Lucky you that you get to be with the humpbacks on the Gold Coast!
I've always dreamed of visiting Antarctica after watching all those National Geographic shows. It seems like there's an abundance of wildlife that is best enjoyed from the creature comforts offered by the Roald Amundsen ship while having the ability to get up close and personal with the penguins and pinnipeds. Time to start saving up! 😄
Your video is sure the best among all videos I watched so far. I am going on the same boat same route in Dec 7-18, 2024. Wish me Drake Lake both ways. :-)
I am THRILLED to hear you loved our video and thank you for the lovely compliment. You are going to have the time of your life in December. The ship is pure class. Enjoy the jacuzzi and all the excursions - do it all!
Great video, photos, coverage of trip and options. Thanks for posting the prices; been eyeing Hurtigrutian trips and wondering. Pool overview was great. Science is awsome. Food looks great. I’m going kayaking and camping for sure ;)
Do it! Yes, like you, I like to know prices too, so I am glad this helped. Thank you for the compliments; I only learned how to do iMovie and edit last year so I am happy people are getting some value out of it all. Hurtigruten really is pure class - really hope you get to go!
Me and my wife are planning to visit different places of the 🌎....hopefully someday will visit antarctic also...please continue sharing your vedios...they give happiness and hope
You, my friend, have just made my day! Happiness and hope, I love it! Did you watch ANTARCTICA: 5 Days on the Ice, Part 1? It's the follow up and I'd say it's even better (more penguins!) I don't know if you are in the states or not, but we have lots of U.S road trip videos. We have done all 50 and I have the Wild West and Great Plains up. They are not the popular states like Florida and California but you'd be so surprised by how much there is to do there. I know I was blown away when, previously, I had made fun!
Loved your video! Definitely the best and most informative I have come across. We just booked our trip on the same vessel for Jan to Feb 2026 and we cannot wait! What time of year did you go?
When did you signed up for the trip? Your overall trip costs and extras activities are very reasonable for the quality of your ship. Ours trip in March of 2023 was lot more. You guys got a good deal!. Thanks for sharing your video.
Hi Pat, Thanks so much for watching. We signed up 6 months prior, so last September/October timeframe. How was your trip? Did you see some of the same things?
Thank you for this video series. We are starting to plan out trip to Antarctica. Trying to determine when to go. Could you please tell us the dates for your cruise? I know you posted your videos in April, but you didn’t state when you were there. Thanks.
Thanks so much for watching. It was 1 degree and when we did the polar bear plunge, it was 3 degrees! Did you see that video? There are 3 in the Antarctica series. The other 2 are more about wildlife and scenery.
Yes it was!!! There was a storm on the way back to Argentina and the captain had to veer way east to try and avoid the worst of it. I was so anxious that I had insomnia for 2 days and that's why I had to be sedated. Also, my husband says I am a bit of a baby!
Thermals! Just cheap Walmart fleecy ones are great: socks, t-shirt, leggings. And a GOOD rich face moisturizer as the air is so dry. Also, your hair goes dry and brittle. I wish I had brought some good conditioner or mask because my hair was so flyaway.
Isn't it great? It was a gift but you can buy it online. Just Google it and something will come up. I put a link in one of the first comments way below.

Hello, No, that it is not true. There are about 400 - 500 passengers on a Hurtigruten cruise and there is room for ALL passengers on the zodiacs. We were put into different groups and each group is called down to the zodiacs at different times. Our group went out at, let's say, 10 am and the next group went out at 10.30 am and the next at 11 am. We stayed on the continent with the penguins for a couple of hours and then came back to the ship. I would say most people wanted to go out onto the Antarctic continent. A few older people and people with disabilities stayed on the ship and watched from the top decks. But, I promise you: if you want to explore and leave the ship on the zodiacs, there is definitely room. 100%. Nobody is denied. The only limits are with the kayaking or camping excursions overnight. There are only a few places for those excursions. But...you couldn't PAY me to camp in the ice overnight, so I didn't worry! LOL. I hope you get to go!
I know, right? But you'd be first in line after 3 days crossing the Drake Passage. Pretty much any lecture, we were glad of the distraction. The cloud lecture was perhaps the least interesting, I must say.
Isn't it great? It was a gift but you can buy it online. Just Google it and something will come up. I put a link in one of the first comments way below.
Not on this cruise. We weren't near there. The kayaking happens depending on the weather and sometimes the ice is so bad that the ship cannot go to the planned destinations. I am sure on other cruises they kayak there, but you can never guarantee anything due to the changeable weather. The ships have a Plan B, C and D!
Thank You from all us Peasants that will never experience this wonderful adventure 🥰🫵🥳🥳🥳🥳😊🇦🇺 in all seriousness I think this costs are worthwhile! 🥰🫵...
You're welcome! It was a bit pricey, yes. But it was to celebrate Orlando's 50th and it was the one thing he wanted to do. "Life is short; slap it on the credit card" is my philosophy! LOL
Excellent video. Answered many of my questions about Hurtigruten

Very professional and fun, thank you! Your narration is well done with a light touch. Your Brit accent adds interest for this yankee.
That is very kind, thanks Paul. I am beyond thrilled that 7000+ people got to see Antarctica!
New to channel. Lived your video and look forward to exploring with you. Thank you for sharing.
Thanks so much, I am so happy to hear that!

It was my pleasure making the video. I could watch it daily just to see the penguins.
Awesome video!!
I am absolutely thrilled that you enjoyed it! Huge thanks!!
Thanks, much appreciated.

Hi .Kathy,
We went on 1st March 2023 and it was the second to last cruise of the season. It goes from November to March
I do this in January❤❤❤
Just found you! You are both fabulous!
That's great, thanks so much! I always wonder how people find our channel but I am so grateful to have you.
Hey guys! A great video indeed! I know it was cold out there. New subscriber here.
Thanks so much for watching. It was 1 degree and when we did the polar bear plunge, it was 3 degrees! Did you see that video? There are 3 in the Antarctica series. The other 2 are more about wildlife and scenery.
What a fantastic video, thank you for sharing this. Can I ask why you needed to be sedated? Was the Drake Shake that bad?
Yes it was!!! There was a storm on the way back to Argentina and the captain had to veer way east to try and avoid the worst of it. I was so anxious that I had insomnia for 2 days and that's why I had to be sedated. Also, my husband says I am a bit of a baby!
Love the video! My husband and I are big time travelers, so this is definitely something on our list!! What kind of boots did you wear?
Thank you so very much, we appreciate that so much. Boots: the ship gives them to you and they are great, so no need to buy.
Im
Hoping to go next year anything you recommend as a must to wear? Or buy before you go? 🙏

Does Hurtigruten supply the walking sticks?
My wife and I were on the same March 2 expedition cruise on the RA as you. We were in the Humpback Whale group. How about you?
Hi!! We were the orca whales.
I just booked, but need to find my own travel insurance. Any recommendations? Which did you use?
That's wonderful that you're all booked! I don't have any real recommendations for travel insurance, to be honest. Sorry I can't help in that respect.
👍
Can we talk about the hat?😂😂

I have heard this cruise carries about 400 passengers and only few can get down on zodiacs at the landings. Is that true?
