- Here's my Spring 2016 end of semester parody of Justin Bieber's song "Love Yourself" retitled "Learn Excel". Thanks to all my students for a great semester and to Mark Rogers for inspiring me to do these parodies! Have a great summer!!! See lyrics below:
For all the times you sat up working really late
And those Excels that had you cursing my name
You said it’s way to hard and it hurt your GPA
And now you’re beggin me to raise up your grade
So I simply want to write a song
To remind you all about the things that you learned in this class
Pivot Tables kick...butt
And you got your functions on!
Use countif, sumif, average, even vlookup too
Maybe 3-d charts too
My students don’t like it but then they see the light
And they never like to admit that I was right
And after college they get jobs,
And they see what's going on
But now they know,
That Excel is more a friend than foe
Cause if you want to get the skills you need
Oh, baby, you should go and learn Excel
And if you think I lie, just ask your boss
They’ll tell ya ‘you should go and learn Excel’
Many years from now, when you have left UT
And you use your these skills will you think of me?
You’ll probably rock conditional formatting
Those nested ifs will come in handy you’ll see
So I simply want to write a song

I'm just a cosmetology student and showed this video to my instructor and she almost bust in tears. She said she couldn't play guitar like you and wish that she could do something as cool like this for us

Love it! I am an HR VP for a hospital and I totally agree with you. Candidates must have computer skills. No question about it. I had this conversation with my 16 year old because he hated excel when he took a computer class his sophomore year in high school. I have fond memories of attending UT - graduated MBA'93 - wish all professors were like you! Bravo!!!!!!!
Professor Tuttle, let's just say that after this long, this video is still a major part of my life...whenever UofM's Calc 3 is killing me, I would always turn to this vid, and bam!! My day gets a million times better !!!! :D

Dear Teacher: The future is Alteryx. Teachers love bringing the minds to the future....check out Alteryx and you'll be writing a new song in a quarter because your students will no longer be bored and hate excel.
I work for Certiport, official provider of the Microsoft Office Specialist certifications, and I have to ask - do your students take the MOS exams for Excel?
Some do. We provide the trainings that allow them to work up to it and take test but it's not a required part of course.

wow, this is an amazing video! i would like you to keep up your great work, and one day, you will definitely get somewhere ;) unlike me where i have been doing youtube for almost 9 years, had youtube delete pretty much all of my videos, and don't get much attention, you are doing much better than me. but i hope you have a good day and keep up your work and i will keep working on mine! (it will be slow progress though :/ )

Pivot tables? No way, those things are awful.
Macros are where the real ass kicking is at.
