However, he didn't need many lines to convey his thoughts and emotions, especially when it came to Lan Zhan's unconditional and undying love for Wei Ying. All it took in most of the scenes was a look or facial expression. He expressed every range of emotion to perfection. We could see the "teen angst" or "gay panic" as he found himself falling in love, the annoyance with Wei Ying's "recalcitrant" behavior, the jealousy, the anxiety that he had fallen in love alone, the worry for Wei Ying's safety and the utter despair when he thought he had lost him. These two former boy-band pop stars gave us a masterclass in acting.
Noble, powerful, well-known among all cultivators and just drop-dead gorgeous Lan Wangji standing there with the face of a teenager whose mom caught him smoking is just pure comedy.
In Lan Zan’s eyes at the sight of Wuxian, there was soooooo deep love and longing for him. It was so touching. Wang Yibo is really an amazing actor in portraying the character’s feelings.
tamar It is so romantic how quickly he took to accepting yuan as his own child, done deal no questions asked what is yours is mine and finally ours. Not only he accepts it he jumps straight into dad responsibilities. Buy his son some toys whatever he asks, lets his boy play with him while eating showing patience and care, discipline him on table manners, carry him home safely with his toys so he doesn’t feel scared.
One of the highlights of this chapter is the fact that even though Wei Ying didn't fully accept the music Lan Zhan played for him, he played the Sound of Lucidity to calm Wen Ning down.
Yuan crying, the villagers asking where is his mother and Wei ying coming ahah Also the longing in the eyes of Lan Zhan is so powerful, great actors indeed
I love how complex is the relationship between Wei WuXian and Jian Cheng. They really love each other, but at the same time, Jian Cheng can't understand him and feels betrayed. It's just... Ugh, my heart

Idk how the character develops in the novel but JC in the drama is very dense, aggressive and kind of a tyrant? He wants to keep WWX with him out of brotherly love but also because of his inferiority complex? He's very selfish, trying to preserve the clan's honor and doesn't even try to understand WWX's feelings... He wants WWX to listen to him but he won't listen to WWX...

Jiang Chang has a very complex life, he has the right to not like Weiying to the fullest considering Weiying came into his life randomly yet his father and even sister seemingly favored Weiying more. However, with all that, they still grew with a brotherly love and now, Jiang Chang and Weiwuxian both care for each other but don’t trust each other since they both have secrets. Jiang Chang cares for Weiying but he is not good at expressing feelings with words.
When Yanli said she wanted to go back to lotus cove what I got from it was that she wanted to go back to her family. How it used to be. And when Zixuan said he was willing to build another lotus cove he meant that he was willing/wanted to make another family for/with her. I legit started crying thinking about what happens to them in the end.
This comment gets even funnier when you realise the original line Wei Ying says is "I gave birth to him" but it got mistranslated, Lan Zhan be like: "So I'm the father?!" lol
First I also agree with u but after rereading the novel I changed my mind, just think about this way. Though most of the drama shows how everyone was protected by WWX, but from WWX's childhood untill the moment he broke the relationship with him- Jiangcheng chased the dogs away for WWX, he pays the unpaid bills for WWX with his own money, he also helps WWX avoid his mother's leash....they helped each other countless times, it's just Jiangcheng has a whole clan behind his back..at that situation he couldn't do anything risking his clan.

Everyone in the novel gets to know that WWX gave the golden core to JC but they never knew JC lost his golden core to save WWX and his sister. Also he was still unsure about his feelings towards WWX, because WWX indeed killed his sister and her husband...but later he still kept his flute untill the end wanting to hear WWX's explanation - however, the only thing he heard after waiting 13(wasn't sure if its 13) years was: sorry, I broke the promise. That was quite tragic...
It breaks my heart. I was shipping them so hard and I think they’d been great if Jiang Cheng had more of a backbone and stood up to the other clans for his brother and for Qing. He seriously messed up.
Yuan started to love and respect Lan Zhan as a kid of 5-6 age without knowing who Lan Zhan was and with a faded memory. 13 years later we can see Yuan as Lan Sizhui, he had the same love and respect towards Lan Zhan. While all Lan junior disciples showed respect as well as nervousness towards Hanguang jun due to his strict rigid personality traits, Lan Sizhui was the only one who embraced and loved Hanguan jun’s personality as his guardian.
If I remember it right, in the novel when Wei Ying came the ppl even said “Is that the child’s mom?” After WY said he gave birth to Yuan, the way LZ looked at the two was exactly of a husband/dad to his little family.

Jiang Cheng really can't see what his father wanted him to see, always attacking Wei Ying with that line about playing hero. if only he could forget his ambition of sucking up to other gentry families and help his goddamned brother protect the weak. Maybe they could have argued for them. Maybe the Lan clan would have helped them as well. They could have played the part of benevolent saviours together...I guess plot has to come from somewhere. And Jiang Cheng is so ambitious. Then we have WangXian dads being adorable!
I think it all comes down with how JC's father was always very strict with him but excused WX and like JC's mother always stressed on the fact that hes the future leader and that he has to act in a proper way it really all comes down to the environment each grew up in
even if two people grew up in the same family but had slight changes such as a parent favouring one child over the other, they will grow up to be very different also both of them might have become siblings at a young age but they aren't biological brothers so I feel like the years before they became brothers really play a huge role in which JC might feel like the attention on him is gone even his sister's attention has shifted to WX and she excuses him
also one thing I noticed is that JC felt like no one was on his side when he tried to point out the mistakes WX did, like him acting inappropriately and JC's dad just excusing him. he probably felt ignored and that no one can understand him and that's why he doesn't explain it to WX nor tries to understand WX's train of thoughts
Yes, indeed. Jiang Cheng acted based on his insecurities rather than his strengths unlike Wei WuXian and ended up coming out inferior because of it. He felt inferior to his brother and so he instinctively criticised him.

Well, Spoiler He does find out... Courtesy of Wen Ning. He had a big shock and went around Ynmeng asking people to unsheath Suibian (WWX's sword which sealed itself so that only Wei WuXian can unsheath it). It's in the novel and also adapted in later episode of this drama.

And Jiang Cheng is so ambitious.

I think it all comes down with how JC's father was always very strict with him but excused WX and like JC's mother always stressed on the fact that hes the future leader and that he has to act in a proper way it really all comes down to the environment each grew up in
even if two people grew up in the same family but had slight changes such as a parent favouring one child over the other, they will grow up to be very different also both of them might have become siblings at a young age but they aren't biological brothers so I feel like the years before they became brothers really play a huge role in which JC might feel like the attention on him is gone even his sister's attention has shifted to WX and she excuses him
also one thing I noticed is that JC felt like no one was on his side when he tried to point out the mistakes WX did, like him acting inappropriately and JC's dad just excusing him. he probably felt ignored and that no one can understand him and that's why he doesn't explain it to WX nor tries to understand WX's train of thoughts
Yes, indeed. Jiang Cheng acted based on his insecurities rather than his strengths unlike Wei WuXian and ended up coming out inferior because of it. He felt inferior to his brother and so he instinctively criticised him.
