I would love a game like unpacking which alters the story based on what you place where. What gets pride of place. What gets stashed away. How you play determines who you become.

If Guardians of the galaxy wasn't such a surprise and so amazing The forgotten city would have been my GOTY. GOTG was my game of the year. Inscryption and Before your eyes were games I go into right around Christmas and they are both great and unique. ItTakesTwo and Psychonauts 2 were amazing GOTY worthy 3D platformers that are and were an absolute blast

That video has been in my watch later list ever since :) and yes The Forgotten City has been fantastic so far!! Also I look forward to being stuck on Death's Door final boss, I'm not there yet though. Currently more into chill games than action packed ones, so it's on hold right now.

the forgotten city is a time thing city in skyrim 2 though i dont know who took the idea from who or if they are even conections between those to games/mod also there was a rule aswell but you needed to find out what it was because when you tried to escape or attack someone a lot of golden dwemer robots come and kill you and both things end with you in the timetravel room so where this whole journey began
It's the team behind the mod! They made their own studio, took the idea, fleshed it out, added more complexity and a new setting!/characters, and released it as a standalone game!
@@MontyZander wow okay cool to see that even more modders try to make their own games most of them have such genius ideas as you can see here they had such a beautifull story writting in that mod but it was just full of bugs and things not working the way they should so to just make a game out of it is brilliant ☺ and thanks for answering didnt thought i would get a answer at all so i am even more suprised to see one from the creator him self

I personally wouldn't mind a critique of The Game Awards in general, if you think it would do well/was interesting for a topic. At least my rambling may appease the algorithm gods, because capitalism.
For me my top 3 games of 2021 was Tales of Arise (also my goty 2021, won rpg of 2021 as well....would recommend it if you like character driven stories with a lot of cutscenes...will say that the story does drop off a bit in the second half compared to a strong first half and the ally AI can be an issue as they die a lot and the AI strategy menu sucks (worse in the series in fact cause they make it party based rather then customize each AI individually like past games did)...also Anime style in both art and story so not sure how you feel about that...combat is very good and has the best boss fights in the series imo as they're made much more challenging than past games and not punching bags you can combo to death in the first combo they get stuck in), Scarlet Nexus, Ys 9 (only played and completed 7 games last year: those 3, Ender Lilies (ranked 4th), finishing up Trails of Cold Steel 4 (2020 game though...would be my second favorite after 13 Sentinels Aegis Rim which won my goty 2020), Zelda Age of Calamity (2020 game i got in Christmas 2020), and Persona 5 Strikers (came out in 2021 and was the game i liked least that i finished from 2021). Also played, but haven't completed, Alliance Alive HD Switch (not sure if i'll go back to it even though i like the story cause the leveling system is BS...you don't level up instead after every battle you have a random chance of having stats increase or nothing happening at all...you can get why that would turn someone away), Neo the World Ends with You (got this past Christmas that just passed and am at the first 1/3rd fo the game still), Star Ocean the First Departure (plan on replaying all the Star Ocean games before Star Ocean 6 releases), Sekiro (just got for this Chirstmas that just passed and started it a couple days ago....still can't get the parry counter timing down to tell you the truth...did beat the chained ogre (after about 15 attempts, one leading to me being yeeted off the cliff lol) and 2 other bosses though so far). Besides these though also got Bravely Default 2 and Ghost of Tshushima for Christmas but have yet to start them (one to finish one or two of the above games first). As for this year my 3 definite pickups that i will be playing are Elden Ring (about a month to go now...hoping to get Sekiro done before it comes out), Star Ocean 6, and Grandblue Fantasy Re:Link (this one is the one I'm most excited for tbh). Also getting The Legend of Heroes Trails from Zero which will finally get localized from Japan after about a decade (granted won't play immediately as i already played a fan sub a couple years ago...getting it mainly to support the series as it's my second favorite game series after Namco's Tales series). As for maybe pickups; Project Triangle Strategy, Rune Factory 5, Anno Mutationem, Dusk Diver 2, and FF Origin Stranger from Paradise (this one's the one i'm most likely to skip though...well for this year anyway...may pick it up a year or two from now).

I was also never so thankful and sad to get the good ending, (literally) saying goodbye to the characters was so bittersweet! Really looking forward to trying a few of these! Man, my girlfriend and I just couldn’t get into It Takes Two though, which was 100% due to the unexplained and embarrassingly campy storyline… Clearly not the popular opinion, but I’m stunned it won GOTY…
Guardians of the Galaxy, If you like walking around with no gameplay and like listening to npc’s talk, talk, talk, talk, talk, and more talking with a little bit of combat play the “game”.
Village couldn't have been more of a divisive RE title and as you mentioned it has a lot of flaws and personally after thinking about it i found it a disappointing sequel to 7 (mostly gameplay wise) but man i really like it...and ironically the story was the best part for me, even though it's flawed i was Entertained and invested in it all the way till the end and can't wait to see what they bring with Rose. also Great Video! keep up the good work.

I got the impression you would have got a lot out of Selene’s story but oh well, maybe you’ll come back to it in years to come. Who knows? Maybe one day I will view Resident Evil 8 as something more than pure garbage 🤣
@@amahashadow not true, they weren't sued. Take Two filed a dispute so that Hazelight cannot trademark It Takes Two without Take Two giving them permission or Hazelight attempting a lawsuit on their end. even Take Two recognizes that going after It Takes Two any further now would be a PR nightmare.

Returnal is a gorgeous, well-made, fun game. I just really struggle to get much out of roguelikes!
