The EV6 was second on our ranking when we shopped for an EV in 2023. We bought a BMW i4 e40 msport instead. The higher price was worth it forl better driving dynamics and interior appointments. Also better efficiency. In the first 40,000 miles of 70/30 highway/local driving, we have averaged 4 mi/kWh in summer and 3.5 in winter. Best numbers are high 4s and the worst is 3.0 when temps are under 10 degrees F. The updated EV6 appears to be improved, but I wish they put more effort into making it more efficient.

Super interesting about the steering calibration. Also I like that Thomas was worried we would think he was just making up the fact the charging flap closes when Drive is selected.
I've always wondered how different this Kia is from the Hyundai Ioniq 5. In my country there are many Hyundai I5 used as taxis, and it is half the price of the KIA. Very good review as always 👏🏻
@autogefuehl thanks for the reply! Seeing the similarities and the shared technology, choosing an Ioniq 5 makes sense in my opinion. The facelifted version is €35.000 and the EV6 is €56.000, discounted. Taxi companies in Albania seem to love them. Many drivers have confirmed to me that these cars are used almost 24/7, and rest only when charging or during routine maintenance. This is a good info to prove the reliability of both these models (since they share tech).

Just recently testdrove this car based on your review of the previous generation. Have to say it was a bit disappointing. The infotainment was not really intuitive, steering too heavy and couldn't find any way to change that, seating also wasn't good longer term, and the ride was too stiff. Even on the Dutch highway it was uncomfortable and those are the best highways in the EU. What I did like were the ADAS systems. The EV6 was very confident in lane keeping and changing lanes. Very impressive. Audio system was also very good. Ultimately though it lost out to the BYD Sealion 7 Excellence AWD.
Ouch. Thanks for another gr8 review,the problem with the ev3 if I’m correct is you only get a heat pump in top trim making it too expensive for what looks like a plastic( made from oil) vehicle.
Since EV's model changes are way way shorter than N.A. vehicles, plus they depreciate immensely, have less materials (also tons of wirings more prone to get brittle) they need to drastically reduce prices. Honestly.
this would be the perfect work car for me - but I wish these EV companies would be more forthcoming with the cost to replace the battery packs....I don't buy a new car every 5 years - more like every 15 years.
I was waiting for that comment 😄 we do the cars that are newly launched no matter which powertrain. That can differ a lot, but it can also be 10 EVs in a row or 10 combustion engines in a row. Depends mainly on the launch schedule
