James is such a HUGE influence on my life. Not only have I been an uber weather fan since a tornado ripped through my city in the 70's...yeah, I'm old(ish)...It is his way of explaining meteorology to people that don't read the weather indexes or charts the way we weather nerds do. He makes it where anyone watching can understand what he is seeing. He did it yet again in the first 43 seconds of this video! He explains perfectly that you will never ever see a tornado on a radar. You can see the spin of the storm (mesocyclone) and you can even see if there are objects in the storm clouds that ain't one of the 3 forms of water (meaning a tornado is probably down and tossing junk into the sky) The actual tornado can only be seen from the ground...However...you can sure be pointed to a conclusion based on what radar is showing you. Keep up your fantastic work Mr. Span! I trust no one more than I trust you for weather...I'd almost move to Alabama just to get my daily forecasts from you!
James and everyone at ABC 33/40 are indispensable members of the media. I don't even live in Alabama, but the impact these people have resonates nationwide.
I like James Spann and I really loved Gary England but unfortunately for some reason I can’t find much of him on TH-cam. I thought Trent Oakerson did a fantastic job very recently during the December tornado that ravaged Mayfield, KY as well as many other places as there was a tornado threat and a tornado on the ground for over 200 miles which is incredible, I know they claim it was multiple tornadoes but e everything I’ve watched made it look like it was one constant tornado
This tornado, which struck 3:48, came less than a half mile from my house. Shady Grove Road received the worst of the damage in my area. The power was out for a few hours.
I was at school during this outbreak. I watched his broadcast on my phone during classes because my S/O has extended family down in these areas. It was awful, but everyone made it unscathed. sad to say that school didn't get cancelled or ended early. college life, sadly.
am i the only one who is geeking out about their camera system having a friggin' windshield wiper on it?!? i mean, its not a terrible idea. but James is right... they do need to replace the wiper blade lol.

James is the man! He can juggle 8 tornados at once and not spill his coffee!
REALLY!
What!? Ten tornadoes? Hold my beer.
James Spann makes me very happy. I really like him.
I like him too, one of the best and one of my favorite meteorologists

@@Tremonti4ever cuz he was active back when most didn't put videos of coverage on TH-cam. He retired in 2013
Its been literally almost 12 years since April 27, 2011 and about 2 years since this outbreak. This man must be really pro at his job
He did the 1993 Palm Sunday outbreak too. James Spann is the guy you want.
I prefer james over any other meteorologist his voice is very soothing
That man has not aged a day. He truly is Weather Gandalf.
Ikr? Even with the stress the people in the weather space are under and how little sleep he gets!!
glad to see you guys have Baron finally after all those years with wsi and maxstorm
