- Live coverage of a severe weather event which featured catastrophic hail, and 15 tornadoes over the northern half of Alabama. James Spann and Charles Daniel anchored weather coverage from the studio, Brian Peters and John Brown were in the field.
For those outside of Alabama, here's how we can gauge how severe an outbreak is just by looking at James Spann. If his suit jacket is on, we're ok but need to be aware. No suit jacket, be concerned. No jacket and sleeves rolled up, big trouble.
I've been watching alot of James videos recently and I have to agree. It's like when Jim Cantore shows up in your town, you know what's up. Lol I'm in Kentucky and wish we had a meteorologist like James. So jealous lol
@@chaostheory9695 Did you see the commercial Jim Cantore did when he went on vacation at the beach. No bad weather was expected but when people saw him they all ran for the hills because he was there. 😀
@@chaostheory9695 Over the years, Jim Cantore has made frequent visits to where I live in SE NC for hurricanes, so much so, that he purchased a home on one of the islands. Typically, we don't worry so much when Cantore shows up...until he changes the color of his hat..
Every time I see Christopher Sign I almost cry. 😢
James Spann is a national treasure .
Agreed

These videos are so educational.
Can we get James Spann to please teach master class/write a textbook on meteorology, or at least do another TED Talk?
Thanks, James Spann for your hard work!!! Praise God we only had a few injuries. Had all of our JSU students been home, there would have been a lot of casualites!!! We are just so thankful for everyone!!! 204 was impassable for the 1st 24 hrs. It was a scary moment in my life!!!!
I do like how the southern part of the polygon in the Cullman County Tornado Warning that Vinemont is in the warning, but South Vinemont is not in it.
The craziest thing about all of this, is when James said that the storm had hailstones the size of a 5-gallon drum, his slight exaggeration wasn't very far off.
Whoa really???!
Cullman got hit pretty hard by that grapefruit sized hail that occurred last March, and even the EF3 Tornado that touched down in Jacksonville, AL as well!
Thank you so much James spann we where I the ef3 tornado in Jacksonville it was scary ⛈🌪
Gets to the goods at 10:23
I live in munford Alabama and those storms dropped baseball size hail at my house hitting the roof sounding like rocks
He is the best person ever in Alabama
10:42 The first warning
1:16:55 If you're in the polygon, you respect it.
After you have been hit like they were in 2011 you tend to be much more cautious than you were before

Pluto TV you could of put all ur stuff in one comment
That was scary for me, because I had friends in Hartselle. I had moved to Georgia a couple summers prior, but it was scary
This happened on my birthday! Cool!
OfficialLunatic happy belated birthday dude
The weather coverage was excellent, but they should have kept that girl out of the car dealership. Yeah, the cars are all totaled. You don't have to point out that not only the windshields, but the sunroofs, hoods, and rear windshields were damaged too. Keep it simple.
What?
PDS watches are scary as you can be hit at any time
🤗 JIM CANTORA...is the man 🤗!!!

🌞 OH!! don't forget TIM REED🌞...
Poor Dog!
emphasize the word polygon
Well... The hail started real small... And then it got bigger... and then it got bigger.... What yall gonna do now... Were gonna go home. 🤷🏽♂️

Why is the reporter outside when hail is large enough to cause brain damage?!?!?!!!
I think what you should do is if when you have 1 tornado warning at a time, only air your severe weather coverage in the area that is in the polygon.
Malachi Dees technically, you can't do that. When the station goes live, everyone under the reach of ABC3340 gets their coverage, that's how networks work and there's nothing that they can do about that
Yeah and it's also impractical as Sirens are county-wide, and not based on a polygon.
@@newstarcadefan sirens are impractical. I live quite close to my fire department and their fire calls have never once woken me. T.V. and Radio (especially wether radio) are by far the best way to recieve warnings.
@@wxcellstormchasing7619 that is also true, as sirens are supposed to be for outdoor use only.
@@newstarcadefan I chase and the warnings on the radio beat them on my radar app consistently and usually beat the ems on my phone by a few minutes. So in a situation I'd rely on TV and radio first then phone if necessary.
